  • One of the trends on information storage device is focused on the development of micro-optical devices with OFH (Optical Flying Head). Many different types of sliders for OFH and optical component systems have been introduced in the literature. However, the important issue on the mechanical system, which consists of suspension, swing arm and VCM (Voice Coil Motor) part has not been discussed up to date. In this research, we analyses the suspension, which is used for the small form factor MO drive. The analysis is in process two ways. One is probabilistic analysis, another is dynamic shock analysis. Probabilistic analysis is a technique you can use to assess the effect of uncertain input parameters and assumptions on your analysis model. Using a probabilistic analysis you can and out how much the results of a finite elements analysis are affected by uncertainties in the model. Dynamic shock analysis is used for the mobile applications. The mechanical robustness of the suspension simulating the shock responses of a disk-suspension is proposed in this paper.

  • So far the Limit Equilibrium Method has been widely used by way of 2-D slope stability analysis for the evaluation of land slides and slope failures. However recently the evaluation of 3-D slope stability analysis has been comparatively possible owing to the developments of obtaining the terrain data and geological data and of 3-D slope stability analysis softwares. In Japan the evaluation of the 3-D slope stability analysis has been necessary for the stability analysis of the tunnel mouth. In this study we inspected the economic effects introducing the 3-D slope stability analysis for larger scale landslides and slope failures. In case of 3-D slope stability analysis of landslides we acquired the results that we reduce the cost of the countermeasure work of pile work by 40% comparing the 2-D slope stability analysis. Moreover in case of the stability analysis of slope failures we figured out the results that we reduce the cost of the countermeasure work of anchor works by 20%. Furthermore we proved that 3-D slope stability analysis is effective for the stability analysis of tunnel mouths around the sides of landslides and large scale embankment which we could have not evaluated by conventional 2-D section stability analysis.

  • In general, the response spectrum analysis method is widely used for seismic analysis of building structures, and the time history analysis is applied for computation of structural vibration caused by equipments, machines and moving loads, etc. However, compared with the response spectrum analysis method, the time history method is very complex, difficult and time consuming. In this study, the maximum responses for the vertical vibration are calculated conveniently by the response spectrum method. At first, Response spectrum and time history analysis for some earthquake excitations are carried out, and the accuracy of maximum displacements obtained from response spectrum analysis is investigated. Secondly, the process for the response spectrum analysis in excitation is calculated, and the maximum modal responses are combined by CQC method. Finally, results of the proposed method are compared with those of the time history analysis.

  • The seepage quantity analysis of reservoir embankment is very important for assessment of embankment safety. However, the conventional analysis does not consider uncertainty of soil properties. Permeability is known that the coefficient of variation is larger than other soil properties and seepage quantity is highly dependent on the permeability of embankment. Therefore, probabilistic analysis should be carried out for seepage analysis. To designers, however, the probabilistic analysis is not an easy task. In this paper, the method that can be performed probabilistic analysis easily and efficiently through the numerical analysis based commercial program is proposed. Stochastic response surface method is used for approximate the limit state function and when estimating the coefficients, the moving least squares method is applied in order to reduce local error. The probabilistic analysis is performed by LHC-MCS through the response surface. This method was applied to two type (homogeneous, core zone) earth dams and permeability of embankment body and core are considered as random variables. As a result, seepage quantity was predicted effectively by response surface and probabilistic analysis could be successfully implemented.

  • This paper reviewed the temporal changes in the public opinions on nuclear energy in Korea with a big data analysis of nuclear energy-related articles and their comments posted on the portal site NAVER. All articles that included at least one of "nuclear energy," "nuclear power plant (NPP)," "nuclear power phase-out," or "anti-nuclear" in their titles or main text were extracted from those posted on NAVER in January 2010-December 2019. First, we performed annual word frequency analysis to identify what words had appeared most frequently in the articles. For that period, the most frequent words were "NPP," "nuclear energy," and "energy." In addition, "safety" has remained in the upper ranks since the Fukushima NPP accident. Then, we performed sentiment analysis of the pre-processed articles. The sentiment analysis showed that positive-tone articles have been reported more frequently than negativetone over the entire analysis period. Last, we performed sentiment analysis of the comments on the articles to examine the public's intention regarding nuclear issues. The analysis showed that the number of negative comments to articles each month-irrespective of positive or negative tone-was always larger than that of positive comments over the entire analysis period.

  • In this paper, an efficient multipaction analysis method of a manifold multiplexer for satellite applications is presented. While FEM(Finite Element Method) is used for the multipaction analysis of the lowpass filter, the equivalent circuit model is used for the analysis of the channel filters and the manifold. Employing equivalent circuit model for multipaction analysis takes less time than using EM(Electromagnetic) field analysis method while keeping the accuracy of the multipaction analysis. This present analysis method is applied to the manifold multiplexer for Ka-band satellite transponders and the results show that the present method is as accurate as the conventional EM field analysis method.

  • Selecting a railroad line requires the comparative evaluation of various elements. As a systematic approach to this selection it will be necessary to apply the VE study and the LCC analysis. This study proposes a methodology for selecting the optimum line of the ralroad using VE-LCC analysis. The VE study is performed by following four steps : Information analysis, Function analysis, Alternative evaluation, and Optimum plan selection. The economics evaluation in VE study is using LCC analysis and Sensitivity analysis. Cost items in LCC analysis are classified into bridge, tunnel, rail, and earthwork. We could select the optimum alte-rnatives considering not only cost elements hut also various evaluation element in VE-LCC analysis. • The wavelet and semivariogram analysis method are used to identify the city landscape and farmland landscape pattern on the 1m resolution IKONOS images. The results prove that wavelet method is a potential way for landscape pattern analysis. Compared to semivariogram analysis, Wavelet analysis can not only detect the overall spatial pattern, but also find multi-scale and direction structures. In this experiment, the wavelet analysis results indicate: (1) the city landscape image is mainly composed of three level structures whose spatial pattern characters appear at 2m, 16m, 128m and 256m accordingly; (2) the farmland landscape is mainly two scale spatial patterns appearing at the 2m, 128m and 256m. IKONOS Remote sensing, with the high spatial and spectral information, is a powerful tool that can use in many ecological systems research and sustainable management.

  • This study proposes to ensure the seismic stability of an existing switchboard for emergency diesel generator by applying mode analysis, static analysis and dynamic analysis. First, a three dimensional model for the swithboard was made with simplification for mode analysis. Next, The mode analysis for the finite element model of the existing switchboard was performed. The 1st natural frequency below 33 Hz, the seismic safety cutoff frequency, was calculated to be 21.943 Hz. Finally, based on the seismic stability theory, the von-Mises equivalent stresses derived by structural analysis and response spectrum analysis under the normal and faulted conditions were 74.179 MPa and 49.769 MPa, respectively. These are less than specified allowable stresses. So seismic stability was confirmed.

  • The analysis system implementing a serial process from structural vibration to sound radiation has been developed using both the power flow finite element method (PFFEM) known as a new vibrational analysis technique in medium to high frequency ranges and the acoustic boundary element method (BEM) which is effective in analyzing the sound radiation problems. The vibration analysis for arbitrary shape structures composed of plates is performed, and using the vibration energy density obtained from this analysis as the velocity boundary conditions for an acoustic analysis, vibro-acoustic analysis has been processed. To verify the developed system, we select a simple structure model and compare the results of developed system with those of SYSNOISE, and also the developed system is applied for the vibro-acoustic analysis of various structures in shapes.
