  • This paper aims to analyze ecological characteristics of interior design, selecting as the subjects Busan-based construction companies which have a model house, among those that distribute apartments in Busan as of August 2006. Primarily, literature research Is conducted to understand recent trends of interior design for apartment building, present situations and characteristics of ecological design, and prepare environmentally-friendly guidelines and check-list items on the basis of domestic and overseas cases. Collected data in turn is analyzed to assess ecological characteristics of apartment building design in Korea today and present problems and directions for the future.

  • Korean society is changing into aged society with the speed which has never happened by other countries before. This has been the consequence of low birthrate and Increase in life expectancy. However, such social problem result in many studies on elderly environment. The purpose of this study is to systematically analyze empirical studies on elderly environment in Korea, find out research streaming and understand social backgrounds. For this study, content analysis was conducted. Articles of 4 registered academic institute published from 1986 to 2005 were units of analysis. Using keyword through library database systems, the articles were systematically selected. As results, trends of research according to 4 periods were identified. Among them as major trends, expansion of the quantity, expansion to Intoner design, more facilities for dependent elderly appeared. This result showed implications on interior design education and research for aging friendly design.

  • This paper presents the characteristic analysis and the optimal design of a permanent magnetic actuator (PMA) for a vacuum circuit breaker (VCB) using a two-dimensional finite element analysis. The purpose of this research about a PMA is to minimize the breaking time and the volume of the permanent magnet within the limits of the holding force and maximum current in the coil. The conjugate gradient method is used as an optimization algorithm. The node moving technique is iteratively implemented until the design variables of the PMA are optimized. In this paper, the optimal design of a PMA is accomplished to improve the conventional design methods.

  • After revision of law of architecture in 2006, all houses which have more 100 households must has ventilation unit for the indoor air quality. Optimal design of the natural and the mechanical ventilation has being considered. In this paper, it is carried out about optimal design for airflow distribution of total heat exchanger in houses using CFD. As the result, first design of ventilation has some problem in porch area. Adding diffusers in porch area and changing diffuser schedule make more efficient ventilation than original design.

  • Objectives : Bloodletting therapeutics is one of the most popular oriental treatments in Korea. In this study, we operate the Telephone Survey for grasping clinical actual state bloodletting therapeutics in Korea. Methods : The list of the Korean medical doctors with experiences more than 10 years is provided by the Association of the Korean Oriental Medicine. A stratified random sample of Korean medical doctors is drawn for the telephone interviews. We choose a bound on the error of estimation equal to 3.2 percentage, and the sample size is 321 for the national sample. We develop a questionnaire for telephone interviews. We carefully design the questionnaire to minimize non-sampling errors by using the focus group activities and the pretest. We give the details of the results based on the sample design. Also, we present some socialdemograhpic characteristics for the samples. Telephone interviews with them were conducted by the well-trained interviewers of College of Korean Medicine student from 11th May 2006 to 17th May 2006. Results : 1. Two hundred eighty eight(89.4%) out of 322 Korean oriental medical doctors used bloodletting therapeutics. 2. The most common main bloodletting treatment is reported by patients was musculo-skeletal disorder(60.2%). 3. Two hundred ninety one(90.3%) out of 322 Korean oriental medical doctors opposed that commercial using bloodletting without medical diagnosis. Conclusion : Bloodletting therapeutics is one of the most popular oriental treatments in Korea. The majority(89.4%) of Korean medical doctors used bloodletting therapeutics in this survey.

  • Recirculation for the unreacted fuel is necessary to improve the overall efficiency of the fuel cell system and to prevent fuel starvation since the fuel cell for a vehicle application is a closed system. In case of the automotive fuel cell, the ejector which does not require any parasitic power is good for the performance improvement and easy operation. It is essential to design the customized ejector due to the lack of the commercial ejector corresponding to the operating conditions of the fuel cell systems. In this study, the design methodology for the ejector customized to an automotive fuel cell is proposed. The model based sensitivity analysis prevents the time-consuming redesign and reduces the cost of developing ejector. As a result, the customized ejector to meet the desired performance within overall operating range has developed for the PEMFC automotive system.
