Loewe Craft Prize is currently the most influential craft contest. During the contest, contemporary craftworks, as art with excellent aesthetic value, are selected as finalists but there are no enough studies on them as subjects. This study aimed to investigate contemporary textile pieces found in the fashion brand Loewe's Craft Prize, a Loewe Foundation Craft Prize and elucidate their expressive characteristics. The methodology of the study was a qualitative study that derives the expressive characteristics of the works within the scope of the study through case analysis along with theoretical reviews. The selection of research subjects was based on 22 works of textile pieces among the works selected as finalists for the last six years since the first year of the prize in 2016. The analysis of textile pieces showed first, the emphasis on traditional expression, second, the development of new expressive techniques for the material, and third, the pictorial character revealed in flat pieces. The expressive characteristics of contemporary textile art shown in the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize, derived based on such results were, first, the confirmation of the unique capabilities of craft through the inheritance of tradition, second, the rediscovery of textile properties through material experimentation, and third, the possibility of expanding the field of textile due to the pictorial character.

This study concerns the demand for Korean textile products in the USA, Japan, EU from 1997 to 2000. The conclusion from this study is that demand for Korean textile products in the USA, Japan, and the EU will steadily decline through to the year 2000. And with this conclusions, in order to rejuvenate the textile industry, we have to consolidate the system of production and proceed with the rationalization of management departments in the industry and the reduction of costs and develop new products. Also, the global policy strategy of the textile industry should be strongly promoted on order to make the textile industry a strong industry in the 21 century.

A methacrylate monomer having phospholipid polar group and cell membrane structure is known as highly biocompatible. Based on these properties, new biocompatible multi-functional textile finishing agent was developed using phospolipid copolymer. 2-Methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPCE) was synthesized using 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), 2-chloro-2-oxo-1,3,2-dioxaphospholane (COP) and triethylamine (TEA), and then polymerized to prepare MPCE copolymer by radical polymerization using azobisisobutyronitrile(AIBN). The structures of MPCE was characterized by FT-IR and 1H NMR and will be evaluated as textile finishing agent in further study.

A study on the structural change in the U.S. textile industry. The U.S. textile industry has undergone significant changes over the last fifty years, including a steady decline in the relative scale of domestic production, employment reduction, and increased competition from imported products. In order to weather a crisis, the responses of the U.S. textile industry have been made such as investment in technology, specalization in the textile and apparel industries. The textile and apparel industries have taken steps to increase labor productivity through automations to speed management to create and introduce new products and new methods, and have lowered indirect overhead costs. Regarding these response of the U.S. and other situation of world textile and apparel trade market, much of the sense of crisis that pervades korean textile and apparel industries has to do with the problem of adjusting corporate policy.
