  • The Logistic cone is studied as a most desirable for the software testing effort. Assuming that the error detection rate to the amount of testing effort spent during the testing phase is proportional to the current error content, a software-reliability growth model is formulated by a nonhomogeneous Poisson process. Using this model the method of data analysis for software reliability measurement is developed. After defining a software reliability, This paper discusses the relations between testing time and reliability and between duration following failure fixing and reliability are studied SRGM in several literatures has used the exponential curve, Railleigh curve or Weibull cure as an amount of testing effort during software testing phase. However, it might not be appropriate to represent the consumption curve for testing effort by one of already proposed curves in some software development environments. Therefore, this paper shows that a logistic testing- effort function can be adequately expressed as a software development/testing effort curve and that it gives a good predictive capability based on real failure data.

  • Servohydraulic shaking tables are being increasingly used in the field of earthquake engineering. They play a critical role in the advancement of the research state and remain one of the valuable tools for seismic testing. Recently, the National Earthquake Engineering Research Center, CGS, has acquired a 6.1m x 6.1 m shaking table system which has a six degree-of-freedom testing capability. The maximum specimen mass that can be tested on the shaking table is 60 t. This facility is designed specially for testing a complete civil engineering structures, substructures and structural elements up to collapse or ultimate limit states. It can also be used for qualification testing of industrial equipments. The current paper presents the main findings of the experimental shake-down characterization testing of the CGS shaking table. The test program carried out in this study included random white noise and harmonic tests. These tests were performed along each of the six degrees of freedom, three translations and three rotations. This investigation provides fundamental parameters that are required and essential while elaborating a realistic model of the CGS shaking table. Also presented in this paper, is the numerical model of the shaking table that was established and validated.

  • MVC(Model-View-Controller) architecture is well-known for high maintainability and it makes efficient development possible. Recently, it has been applied in many fields such as web, desktop and mobile applications. Therefore, effective testing for this architecture is strongly needed. Although much research has been done, there was not much efforts for exploiting MVC architecture in GUI testing. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a scheme for efficient and accurate GUI testing for MVC based applications. In this study we separate original state diagrams into view state diagram and model-controller state diagram. Then, we present a case study showing the effectiveness of our proposed scheme.

  • In general, accelerated life testing is performed to reduce testing time. But it is difficult to apply accelerated life testing to a system besides components. This paper developed a software which estimates reliability measures of the system from results of accelerated life testing of components building the system. This software can handle the system with a large number of components and complex topology. Multiple failure modes of a component were also considered in this software. Based on the software, reliability measures of a gearbox example at several conditions were estimated from the accelerated life testing results of three components of the gearbox.

  • In this paper, we consider two components system in which the lifetimes follow the bivariate Pareto model with random censored data. We assume that the censoring time is independent of the lifetimes of the two components. We develop large sample tests for testing independence between two components. Also we present simulated study which is the test based on asymptotic normal distribution in testing independence.

  • In this paper, we consider some approximate testings for the reliability of the stress-strength model when the stress X and strength Y each depends linearly on some explanatory variables z and w, respectively. We construct a bootstrap procedure for testing for various values of the reliability and compare the power of the bootstrap test with the test based on Mann-Whitney type estimator by Park et.al.(1996) for small and moderate sample size.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the problem of goodness of fit testing based on nonparametric function estimation techniques for the random censorship model. The small and large sample properties of the proposed test, $E_{mn}$, were investigated and it is shown that under the proportional hazard model $E_{mn}$ has higher power compared to the powers of the Kolmogorov -Smirnov, Kuiper, Cramer-von Mises, and analogue of the Cramer-von Mises type test statistic.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of testing for parameter change in time series models based on a cusum of squares. Although the test procedure is well-established for the mean and variance in time series models, a general parameter case was not discussed in literatures. Therefore, here we develop the cusum of squares type test for parameter change in a more general framework. As an example, we consider the change of the parameters in an RCA(1) model. Simulation results are reported for illustration.

  • Although impact hammer is widely used as a convenient excitation tool in structural modal testing, little is known about the dynamic charateristics of its impulse mechanism. Transmission of the impulsive force to the structure depends on the dynamic properties of the impact hammer as well as the stiffness of the tip. An improved dynamic model of the impact hammer is proposed in this study with numerical simulations based on this model. (omitted)
