  • On-Board diagnostic systems are installed in passenger cars and light trucks on today. During the 1970's and early 1980's manufacturers started using electronic means to control engine functions and diagnose engine problems. This wa primarily to meet EPA emission standards. The CARB requires that, by model year 1996, all vehicle sold in California contain a certain minimum "On-Board Diagnostic" capability to diagnose emissions-related failures of the engine control system. These diagnostic requirements have been designated as OBD with a goal of monitoring all of the emissions-related components on-board the vehicle for proper operation. Part of the intent of CARB´s OBD program is that a single diagnostic tester can be used to read the diagnostic information from any OBD-compliant vehicle. A tester which ...

  • For this study, a new hydraulic control unit which designed in compact compared to the currently manufactured hydraulic control unit for ABS has been introduced and its experimental model has been made. Based on the basic principle as ABS using braking force characteristics against slip ratio of tire, half car model bench tester were designed and made to make an analysis of braking effect of the new hydraulic control unit. Experiment for slip ratio characteristics of tire has been carried out using half car model bench tester and with the results of this experiment and control experiment of the new hyraulic control unit, the experiment result of the characteristics of tire and control experiment were compared to find out their correspondence. And furthermore, slip ratio characteristics of the new hydraulic control unit has been studied based on the experiment result of slip ratio characteristics of tire through simulation and compared with experiment result.

  • Through the understanding of the change of productivity and the ability of error recovery according to aging and the assessment and analysis of them, we may take this research to contribute to make a design for the road-map to help set up the policy of employment for old generation. For this we have taken an experiment of the coordination tester for 100 person who are chosen randomly and analysed the collected data using SAS, which is one of widely used statistical analysis packages. The main results are as follow: $\circledcirc$ The result of regression between the working speed and the length of the correction of error shows independence. (pr>0.2029). $\circledcirc$ The regression between age and working speed is statistically significant. (pr<0.0001) $\circledcirc$ The relation between age and the length of the correction of error is not significant. (pr>0.9123).

  • In this study, the correlations of the two frictional testers have been investigated; one is the KES-FB4 system, the other is the Fabric-on-Fabric Frictional tester which was devised by authors. According to the results, the correlation between the frictional coefficients measured by the two testers has been shown highly as the load increased. But the effect of roughness of fabric surface was not dearly revealed in this study. The frictional characteristics of fabric woven from filament yarns were different with those of fabric woven from spun yarns. And, like the other materials, the effect of load on fabrics used in this experiment was related with the frictional force between two fabrics. The frictional behaviors, however, were obviously different with harder material because the frictional coefficients were not constant as the load increased.

  • The equipment is used for testing the electrical characteristics of solar cells that were connected to be a solar panel, which can be found anywhere of solar power plant. This device was built from power switch devices f3r sinking the high current of the solar panel. The processor is a controller, which controls the quantity of the current, which flow through the switching devices and collect the characteristic of the solar panel. The tester can measure the current, voltage, temperature, and light intensity, which are main factors that affect the electrical characteristics of solar cells. 12 bits resolution signal converter is used to change the measuring levels so we can change measuring levels to 4096 levels, and these data are stored in tile memory. The equipment can also calculate the maximum power of the solar system panel.

  • Impact tester was build up to evaluate the characterization of CFRP laminate plates under the low velocity impact. The tests were conducted on several laminates of different ply orientation A system was budded for the impact strength of CFRP laminates in consideration of stress wave propagation theory using drop-weight impact tester as one of impact test. Results indicate that absorbed energy of quasi-isotropic specimen having four interfaces is higher than that of orthotropic laminates with two interfaces. Also the damage area was measured with ultrasonic C-scanner on some samples. In the specimens the relationship was linear between damaged area and absorbed energy to some degree. Absorbed energy in the specimen that ply number, interface number and fiber stacking sequences is same but having hybrid is higher than that of orthotropic laminates without hybrid.

  • This paper presents the optimal design of a high-speed (200[km/h]) Linear Synchronous Motor which will be used as a propulsion system of a dynamic tester for catenary-current collection used in railways. Motor performance, especially detent force minimization on various design schemes has been investigated in detail by using FEM (Finite Element Method). Simulation-based DOE (Design of Experiments) method is also applied in order to reduce the large number of analysis according to each design variable and consider the effect among variables. The optimal design in all aspects is proposed by an optimization algorithm using a regression equation derived from the simulation-based DOE and the performance is verified by FEM.

  • The flash point of liquid solution is one of the most important flammability properties that used in hazard and risk assessments. Minimum flash point behaviour (MFPB) is showed when the flash point of a liquid mixture is below the flash points of the individual components. In this paper, the lower flash points for the flammable binary system, n-decane+n-octanol, were measured by Pensky-Martens closed cup tester. This binary mixture exhibited MFPB. The measured flash points were compared with the values calculated by the Raoult's law and the optimization method using van Laar and UNIQUAC equations. The optimization method were found to be better than those based on the Raoult's law, and successfully estimated MFPB. The opimization method based on the van Laar equation described the experimentally-derived data more effectively than was the case when the prediction model was based upon the UNIQUAC.

  • In this paper, a method which can detect tracking caused by the insulation deterioration of conduct wiring, is proposed. The computer which take experiment data is learned by neural network algorithm, which has recently been used for the load recognition. The proposed method in our study can be applied to the development of several measuring equipments such as hot-line insulation tester, car earth tester for the detection of tracking under hot-line state.

  • The lower flash points for the flammable binary systems, 2-propanol+formic acid and 2-propanol+n-butyric acid, were measured by Cleveland open cup tester. The optimization method using van Laar equation and the Raoult's law were used to estimate the lower flash points and were compared with experimentally-derived data. The calculated values based on the optimization method were found to be better than those based on the Raoult's law.
