  • TINA is the Open Networking Architecture which as newly introduced software architecture shares the network managements and the service managements on the Distributed Processing Environment. In this paper, based on the concepts and principles defined up to now, we implement and test the CM(Connection Management) Package included in CM which is one of the six functional areas into which TINA Management Architecture is devided. Before the implementation we learn the basic concepts accepted by the four architectures in TINA, and medelling concept of the CM. The interfaces of eaxh information objects explain the functions of computational objects implemented, and the message flows among the computational objects show the connection setup and release procedures.

3D finite element modelling of composite connection of RCS frame subjected to cyclic loading

  • Composite special moment frame is one of the systems that are utilized in areas with low to high seismicity to deal with earthquake forces. Composite moment frames are composed of reinforced concrete columns (RC) and steel beams (S); therefore, the connection region is a combination of steel and concrete materials. In current study, a three dimensional finite element model of composite connections is developed. These connections are used in special composite moment frame, between reinforced concrete columns and steel beams (RCS). Finite element model is discussed as a most reliable and low cost method versus experimental procedures. Based on a tested connection model by Cheng and Chen (2005), the finite element model has been developed under cyclic loading and is verified with experimental results. A good agreement between finite element model and experimental results was observed. The connection configuration contains Face Bearing Plates (FBPs), Steel Band Plates (SBPs) enveloping around the RC column just above and below the steel beam. Longitudinal column bars pass through the connection with square ties around them. The finite element model represented a stable response up to the first cycles equal to 4.0% drift, with moderately pinched hysteresis loops and then showed a significant buckling in upper flange of beam, as the in test model.

Factors Associated with Burnout for Nurses Working in Hematology-oncology Wards (혈액종양병동 간호사의 소진에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine factors related to burnout of nurses at hemato-oncology wards. Methods: The participants were 134 nurses working at hematology-oncology wards in three tertiary general hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire that consisted of personal characteristics, occupational stress, satisfaction and burnout. Using a SPSS/WIN 12.0 program, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression procedures were employed. Results: The mean score of burnout reported by the participants was $3.15{\pm}0.50$ (range 1~5), showing the highest scores in the area of physical burnout ($3.53{\pm}0.57$). The satisfaction with nursing profession was found to be the most impact on the burnout of the hematology-oncology ward nurses (${\beta}$=-.533), followed by occupational stress (${\beta}$=.351) and years of clinical experiences (${\beta}$=-.154). Conclusion: Given the findings, the sorts of strategies to increase the satisfaction with nursing profession and decrease their occupational stress are required, particularly for newly employed nurses.

Development of automated scoring system for English writing (영작문 자동 채점 시스템 개발 연구)

  • The purpose of the present study is to develop a prototype automated scoring system for English writing. The system was developed for scoring writings of Korean middle school students. In order to develop the automated scoring system, following procedures have been applied. First, review and analysis of established automated essay scoring systems in other countries have been accomplished. By doing so, we could get the guidance for development of a new sentence-level automated scoring system for Korean EFL students. Second, knowledge base such as lexicon, grammar and WordNet for natural language processing and error corpus of English writing of Korean middle school students were established. Error corpus was established through the paper and pencil test with 589 third year middle school students. This study provided suggestions for the successful introduction of an automated scoring system in Korea. The automated scoring system developed in this study should be continuously upgraded to improve the accuracy of the scoring system. Also, it is suggested to develop an automated scoring system being able to carry out evaluation of English essay, not only sentence-level evaluation. The system needs to be upgraded for the improved precision, but, it was a successful introduction of an sentence-level automated scoring system for English writing in Korea.

Development of a Dan J eon Breathing Model for Health Promotion in Middle-aged Women (중년여성의 건강증진을 위한 단전호흡 모형 개발)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a Dan Jeon Breathing Model and to identify effects of the developed Dan Jeon Breathing Model for maintenance and promotion of health and improvement of health problems in middle-aged women. Method: This study was constructed with two procedures. The first procedure was to develop appropriate movements for middle-aged women, performing a focus group discussion and developing a Dan Jeon Breathing Model in qualitative research. The collected data from focus group discussions was categorized for fitting movements. The second procedure was to verify and conclude a Hypothetic Dan Jeon Breathing Model through a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group pre-post test design. Result: The developed Dan Jeon Breathing Model was composed of 28 preparation movements to accept Ki comfortably, 10 breathing movements to accumulate Ki for activation of metabolic function in organs and 14 finishing movements to transmit activated Ki to organs. It took 40 minutes to do them. In the Second procedure, the score of physical health (t=4.205, p=.000), psycho-social health(t=3.292, p=.002) and physical strength of the experimental group(t=5.905, p=.000) was higher than that of the control group. Conclusion: The Dan Jeon Breathing Model developed in this study is the correct health promotion model for middle-aged women, their demand, developmental traits and health problems.

Seismic Behavior of Slender Coupling Beams Constructed with High-Performance Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composite (고성능 섬유 보강 시멘트 복합체(HPFRCC)를 적용한 세장한 연결보의 내진거동 평가)

  • The hysteretic behavior of diagonal reinforced coupling beams is excellent during earthquakes. However, construction of the diagonal reinforced coupling beams is difficult due to complex reinforcement details required by current code procedures (ACI 318-11). Due to the detail requirement, reinforcement congestion and interference among transverse reinforcement always occur during construction field. When the aspect ratio of the beam is large, the interference of reinforcement becomes more serious. The objective of this paper is to simplify the reinforcement details of slender coupling beams by reducing transverse reinforcement around the beam perimeter. For this purpose, high- performance fiber reinforced cementitious composites are used for making coupling beams. Experiments were conducted using three specimens having aspect ratio 3.5. Test results showed that HPFRCC coupling beams with half the transverse reinforcement required by ACI 318-11 provided identical seismic capacities to the corresponding coupling beams having requirement satisfying the requirement specified in ACI 318-11.

Bridge widening with composite steel-concrete girders: application and analysis of live load distribution

  • A bridge widening technology using steel-concrete composite system was developed and is presented in this paper. The widened superstructure system consists of a newly built composite steel-concrete girder with concrete deck and steel diaphragms attached to the existing concrete girders. This method has been applied in several bridge widening projects in China, and one of those projects is presented in detail. Due to the higher stiffness-to-weight ratio and the rapid erection of composite girders, this widening method reveals benefits in both mechanical performance and construction. As only a few methods for the design of bridges with different types of girders are recommended in current design codes, a more accurate analytical method of estimating live load distribution on girder bridges was developed. In the analytical model, the effects of span length, girder pacing, diaphragms, concrete decks were considered, as well as the torsional and flexural stiffness of both composite box girders and concrete T girders. The study shows that the AASHTO LRFD specification procedures and the analytical models proposed in this paper closely approximate the live load distribution factors determined by finite element analysis. A parametric study was also conducted using the finite element method to evaluate the potential load carrying capacities of the existing concrete girders after widening.

Multivariate Procedure for Variable Selection and Classification of High Dimensional Heterogeneous Data

  • The development in data collection techniques results in high dimensional data sets, where discrimination is an important and commonly encountered problem that are crucial to resolve when high dimensional data is heterogeneous (non-common variance covariance structure for classes). An example of this is to classify microbial habitat preferences based on codon/bi-codon usage. Habitat preference is important to study for evolutionary genetic relationships and may help industry produce specific enzymes. Most classification procedures assume homogeneity (common variance covariance structure for all classes), which is not guaranteed in most high dimensional data sets. We have introduced regularized elimination in partial least square coupled with QDA (rePLS-QDA) for the parsimonious variable selection and classification of high dimensional heterogeneous data sets based on recently introduced regularized elimination for variable selection in partial least square (rePLS) and heterogeneous classification procedure quadratic discriminant analysis (QDA). A comparison of proposed and existing methods is conducted over the simulated data set; in addition, the proposed procedure is implemented to classify microbial habitat preferences by their codon/bi-codon usage. Five bacterial habitats (Aquatic, Host Associated, Multiple, Specialized and Terrestrial) are modeled. The classification accuracy of each habitat is satisfactory and ranges from 89.1% to 100% on test data. Interesting codon/bi-codons usage, their mutual interactions influential for respective habitat preference are identified. The proposed method also produced results that concurred with known biological characteristics that will help researchers better understand divergence of species.

Development of Social Capital Scale in Participant Sports (스포츠 참여자의 사회자본 철도개발 적용)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a scale of social capital in participant sports. To achieve the purpose of this study Socal Capital Scale by Fukuyama(1996), Shane(2005), Kim(2003), Park & Kim(2000), Jung & Shim(2004) was translated and modified to use in participant sports. Throughout the research procedures including back translation, expert meeting, pre-test, sampling, data analysis. Result of this study are as follows First, SCSPS(social capital scale in participant sports) was consisted with four sub-domains such as social network, norms, trust, information share, and position improvement. Second, based on outputs form SEM, it was indicated that model used to develop SCSPS had relatively good fit with significant scores of model indices. Finally, reliability and validity of the scale also showed relatively high scores.

  • The increasing of power and processing speed and miniaturization of central processor unit (CPU) used in electronics equipment requires better performing thermal management systems. A typical thermal management package consists of thermal interfaces, heat dissipaters, and external cooling systems. There have been a number of experimental techniques and procedures for estimating thermal conductivity of thin, compressible thermal interface material (TIM). The TIM performance is affected by many factors and thus TIM should be evaluated under specified application conditions. In compact packaging of electronic equipment the chip is interfaced with a thin heat spreader. As the package is made thinner, the coupling between heat flow through TIM and that in the heat spreader becomes stronger. Thus, a TIM characterization system for considering the heat spreader effect is proposed and demonstrated in detail in this paper. The TIM test apparatus developed based on ASTM D-5470 standard for thermal interface resistance measurement of high performance TIM, including the precise measurement of changes in in-situ materials thickness. Thermal impedances are measured and compared for different directions of heat dissipation. The measurement of the TIM under the practical conditions can thus be used as the thermal criteria for the TIM selection.
