  • The purpose of this dissertation is to study the physical properties of cellular rubber products for industrial use. Vulcanization characteristics were investigated by usingcure curve that had obtained by means of Rheometer. The results of physical properties, vulcanization characteristics and foaming states are as follows. 1. The test results for vulcanization characteristics of NR compounds indicated that in the recipe R-1. When accelerator D is used, the optimum conditions of vulcanizate are obtained, while formula R-2 and R-3 have shown higher torgue at curing time, $1{\sim}2$ minutes. Cellular rubber product test in terms of compression set and compression deflection has also met the requirements of SAE. 2. For SBR compounds, S-1 formula was the best in terns of vulcanization characteristics, and for the blowing structure of cellular rubber products, formula S-3 in which accelerator M is added was fair. All other test results, such as compression set and compression deflection properties met SAE requirements. 3. NBR compound (N-1) including accelerator TT was the best in terms of vulcanization characteristic and also blowing structure. All other properties listed above met requirements, particulary for oil resistance test. 4. In the test of EPDM compounds, when mixed accelerator, M and TT, is used(formula E-1) the best results were obtained. Since EPDM is hydrocarbon elastomer, oil resistance test failed. All other properties met the requirement specified in SAE.

  • This pape presents the efficient test data compression method considering test power dissipation in scan test of IP core. There are many researches about test data compression using scan slice selective encoding except power dissipation. We present the new algorithm that assigns the don't care value to be a minimal hamming distance between adjacent slices. Experimental results show that the power dissipation is reduced.

  • This paper presents a compression-friendly low power test scheme in EDT environment. The proposed approach exploits scan slices reusing to reduce the switching activity during shifting for test scheme based on linear decompressor. To avoid the impact on encoding efficiency from resulting control data, a counter is utilized to generate control signals. Experimental results obtained for some larger ISCAS'89 and ITC'99 benchmark circuits illustrate that the proposed test application scheme can improve significantly the encoding efficiency of linear decompressor.

  • In this study, in-plane and out-plane compression tests of aluminum foam and honeycomb sandwich composites were carried out. Through these tests, the relationships of load-displacements were analyzed and the compression characteristics were compared with each other. The specimens were compressed with the speed of 1mm/min by using the universal testing machine. Experimental procedures were taken with photograph by the camera and load cell data were stored into computer. Test results showed that buckling was occurred at the aluminum foam core and honeycomb core according to the increase of load. In the in-plane compression test, the maximum load of aluminum foam specimen was similar with that of honeycomb sandwich. The property of honeycomb was better than that of the foam in consideration of specific gravity. In the out-plane compression test, compression maximum load of aluminum honeycomb sandwich composite was higher than that of aluminum foam sandwich composite.

  • The Brazilian test has been widely used to determine the indirect tensile strength of rock, concrete and other brittle materials. The basic assumption for the calculation formula of Brazilian tensile strength is that the elastic moduli of rock are the same both in tension and compression. However, the fact is that the elastic moduli in tension and compression of most rocks are different. Thus, the formula of Brazilian tensile strength under the assumption of isotropy is unreasonable. In the present study, we conducted Brazilian tests on flat disk-shaped rock specimens and attached strain gauges at the center of the disc to measure the strains of rock. A tension-compression bi-modular model is proposed to interpret the data of the Brazilian test. The relations between the principal strains, principal stresses and the ratio of the compressive modulus to tensile modulus at the disc center are established. Thus, the tensile and compressive moduli as well as the correct tensile strength can be estimated simultaneously by the new formulas. It is found that the tensile and compressive moduli obtained using these formulas were in well agreement with the values obtained from the direct tension and compression tests. The formulas deduced from the Brazilian test based on the assumption of isotropy overestimated the tensile strength and tensile modulus and underestimated the compressive modulus. This work provides a new methodology to estimate tensile strength and moduli of rock simultaneously considering tension-compression bi-modularity.

  • Corestone rock mass has complex characters because it is made up of stronger and stiffer corestone in a weaker and softer matrix. Physical model corestone rock mass made up of stiffer corestone in weaker matrix were tested in uniaxial compression and numercal modelling analysis The result of the uniaxial compression tests showed that increasing the corestone proportion generally increased the modulus of deformation. And the strength decreased in the lower corestone proportion, but it increased in the higher proportion(45%, 65% corestone by volume). The strength and the modulus of deformation were not affected by different size coretone on the same proportion. The result of the numerical modelling analysis showed similar trend compared with the result of the result of the uniaxial compression test. But though the result of th uniaxial compression test is similar to the result of the numerical modelling analysis, it's unreasonalble to apply the results of this paper to in situ corestone rock mass. So mere laboratory tests including triaxial test and the other numerical program analyses are necessary to apply the results to in situ corestone mass

  • A simple and effective compression method is proposed for multiple-scan testing. For a given test set, each test pattern is compressed from the view of slices. An encoding table exploiting seven types of frequently-occurring pattern is used. Compression is then achieved by mapping slice data into codewords. The decompression logic is small and easy to implement. It is also applicable to schemes adopting a single-scan chain. Experimental results show this method can achieve good compression effect.

  • This research examines the eccentric compression performance of composite columns composed of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC)-filled square steel tube and profile steel. A total of 17 specimens on the composite columns with different recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) replacement percentage, RAC strength, width to thickness ratio of square steel tube, profile steel ratio, eccentricity and slenderness ratio were subjected to eccentric compression tests. The failure process and characteristic of specimens under eccentric compression loading were observed in detail. The load-lateral deflection curves, load-train curves and strain distribution on the cross section of the composite columns were also obtained and described on the basis of test data. Results corroborate that the failure characteristics and modes of the specimens with different design parameters were basically similar under eccentric compression loads. The compression side of square steel tube yields first, followed by the compression side of profile steel. Finally, the RAC in the columns was crushed and the apparent local bulging of square steel tube was also observed, which meant that the composite column was damaged and failed. The composite columns under eccentric compression loading suffered from typical bending failure. Moreover, the eccentric bearing capacity and deformation of the specimens decreased as the RCA replacement percentage and width to thickness ratio of square steel tube increased, respectively. Slenderness ratio and eccentricity had a significantly adverse effect on the eccentric compression performance of composite columns. But overall, the composite columns generally had high-bearing capacity and good deformation. Meanwhile, the mechanism of the composite columns under eccentric compression loads was also analysed in detail, and the calculation formulas on the eccentric compression capacity of composite columns were proposed via the limit equilibrium analysis method. The calculation results of the eccentric compression capacity of columns are consistent with the test results, which verify the validity of the formulas, and the conclusions can serve as references for the engineering application of this kind of composite columns.

  • In this study, laboratory test, in-situ vane shear test and piezocone penetration test in the study area were conducted to investigate the engineering characteristics of soft soils at Cheongra District, Songdo District in Incheon City, the west coast of Gyeonggi province, and Sihwa District in Ansan city. The correlations among compression index, and in-situ vane shear test, and cone resistance were obtained. The variations of liquid limit, plasticity index, water content and compression index with respect to depth exhibit strong similarity. This means that they have strong correlations, which can be used to evaluate the local characteristics of the study area. Thus, the correlations between compression index and physical properties were analysed to investigate the engineering characteristics of soft soil in the study area. The relationships between the measured piezocone factor by empirical methods, and undrained shear strength obtained by triaxial compression test or in-situ vane shear test were compared. It shows the significant correlation and piezocone factors, $N_{kT}$are suggested for the study area.
