Characterization of Increases in Volumetric Water Content in Soil Slopes to Predict the Risk of Shallow Failure (토사비탈면 표층붕괴 위험 예측을 위한 체적함수비 증가 특성 연구)

  • The characteristics of volumetric water content changes in soil slopes were studied here in an effort to identify the signs of heavy rain causing shallow slope failure. Volumetric water contents in cases with and without shallow failure were measured in flume and test-bed experiments. Measurement data from 282 experiments of both types revealed that the volumetric water content gradient in shallow failure events ranged from 0.072 to 0.309. In non-failure cases, the range was 0.01~0.32. Therefore, this one specific value cannot predict shallow slope failure. However, as the volumetric water content gradient increased, there was a clear tendency to shallow failure. By using this trend, criteria for four warning levels are suggested.

Analysis of the surface sterilization effect of disinfectants (소독제 별 표면소독 효과 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the number of bacteria before and after the use of surface disinfectants, demonstrate the bactericidal effect of surface disinfectants, and emphasize on the importance of surface disinfectants by recognizing the importance of infection control in dentistry. Chlorhexidine, hydrogen peroxide, ethanol, and chemical disinfectants are commonly used in dentistry. NaOCl was selected as the experimental group, and the bacterium test results obtained by comparing the table without surface sterilization as a control group showed that all disinfectants had an effective bactericidal effect (p<0.05). In the growth inhibition test comparing the experimental and control groups, all results were 100%, proving the effectiveness of surface disinfectants. The results showed that all surface disinfectants preferred and used by medical institutions were effective. Therefore, all surface disinfectants used in the experimental group were effective for surface disinfection for infection control. Dental clinicians should be aware of the necessity of disinfection of surfaces, such as table, chairs, and unit chairs, and make an active effort to ensure that both clinicians and patients are safe from infection.

  • K University of engineering college awarded degrees to workers for major of electrical and electronics in the degree-linked work-study parallel system for the first time in February 2020. In this study, the progressed process to the stage of producing group graduation works for graduates and completing the results in an engineering thesis system were presented. The questionnaire consisting of 39 questions was conducted with the subjects, and the results of the responses were compared and analyzed with the results of full-time students in the same major who graduated in the same year. Statistical analysis was attempted by dividing the five representative response questions by group, but the number of people in each group was less than 30, so the normality test of response results and statistical analysis by parametric methods were limited. However, it was judged that a one-sample t-test was possible. Focusing on this method, it was confirmed that there was a difference of 0.8 points or more between the groups on an average 5-point scale in response items related to the number of changes in the subject of the work, the satisfaction among the members, and the effort to guide the work. And the measures to deal with these differences were suggested.

Detection of Source Code Security Vulnerabilities Using code2vec Model (code2vec 모델을 활용한 소스 코드 보안 취약점 탐지)

  • Traditional methods of detecting security vulnerabilities in source-code require a lot of time and effort. If there is good data, the issue could be solved by using the data with machine learning. Thus, this paper proposes a source-code vulnerability detection method based on machine learning. Our method employs the code2vec model that has been used to propose the names of methods, and uses as a data set, Juliet Test Suite that is a collection of common security vulnerabilities. The evaluation shows that our method has high precision of 97.3% and recall rates of 98.6%. And the result of detecting vulnerabilities in open source project shows hopeful potential. In addition, it is expected that further progress can be made through studies covering with vulnerabilities and languages not addressed here.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest an improvement plan for the practical evaluation method used to determine the national technical qualification in field of flower design to improve its development. First, an advisory committee was formed, after which comparisons, an analyses and matching were conducted of the currently used national technical qualifications and competency units and the competency unit elements of the National Competency Standards in an effort to strength practical skills and industrial field abilities in the field of flower design. Second, we visited an industrial site to understand the practical and technical aspects as well as the facilities and equipment used in the flower design field. The status of workers in the industrial field in the field of flower design was then analyzed. Through this process, practical examination questions were developed for improve the evaluation method. In addition, to ensure a properly configured result, a pilot test was conducted involving those majoring in the field of flower design. To investigate the feasibility of the developed exam, a survey focusing on targets related to flower design was conducted. Based on the results, by suggesting an improvement plan for the practical evaluation method of national technical qualifications in the field of flower design, it is possible to improve knowledge, technical aspects, and literacy, allowing us to train outstanding technical professionals. In the end, this study can be expected to contribute to the improvement of the flower design industry.

  • This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the epidemiological trends and challenges in managing tuberculosis (TB) in livestock in Korea from 2013 to 2022. Tuberculosis, caused by the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, is a significant zoonotic disease affecting cattle, deer, and other domesticated animals. Despite the initiation of a test-and-slaughter eradication policy in 1964, TB has continued to persist in Korean livestock, particularly in cattle and deer. This study used data from the Korea Animal Health Integrated System and provincial animal health laboratories to analyze TB incidence in various livestock including different cattle breeds and deer species. The results from 2013 to 2022 showed a peak in TB cases in 2019 with a subsequent decline by 2022. The study highlighted a significant incidence of TB in Korean native cattle and the need for amore inclusive approach towards TB testing and control in different cattle breeds. Additionally, the study underscored the importance of addressing TB in other animals such as goats, wildlife, and companion animals for a holistic approach to TB eradication in Korea. The findings suggest that while the test-and-slaughter strategy has been historically effective, there is a need for adaptation to the current challenges, and learning from successful eradiation stories on other countries like Australia. A collaborative effort involving an expanded surveillance system, active private sector participation, and robust government support essential for the efficient eradication of TB in livestock in Korea.

Classification of Aβ State From Brain Amyloid PET Images Using Machine Learning Algorithm

  • Background and Purpose: Analyzing brain amyloid positron emission tomography (PET) images to access the occurrence of β-amyloid (Aβ) deposition in Alzheimer's patients requires much time and effort from physicians, while the variation of each interpreter may differ. For these reasons, a machine learning model was developed using a convolutional neural network (CNN) as an objective decision to classify the Aβ positive and Aβ negative status from brain amyloid PET images. Methods: A total of 7,344 PET images of 144 subjects were used in this study. The 18F-florbetaben PET was administered to all participants, and the criteria for differentiating Aβ positive and Aβ negative state was based on brain amyloid plaque load score (BAPL) that depended on the visual assessment of PET images by the physicians. We applied the CNN algorithm trained in batches of 51 PET images per subject directory from 2 classes: Aβ positive and Aβ negative states, based on the BAPL scores. Results: The binary classification of the model average performance matrices was evaluated after 40 epochs of three trials based on test datasets. The model accuracy for classifying Aβ positivity and Aβ negativity was (95.00±0.02) in the test dataset. The sensitivity and specificity were (96.00±0.02) and (94.00±0.02), respectively, with an area under the curve of (87.00±0.03). Conclusions: Based on this study, the designed CNN model has the potential to be used clinically to screen amyloid PET images.

A Study on the Relation between Dynamic Deflection Modulus and In-Situ CBR Using a Portable FWD (소형FWD를 이용한 노상토의 동적변형계수와 현장 CBR의 상관 연구)

  • The road construction, as part of effort to ease the worsening traffic, has been underway throughout the nation, while the existing road has been increasingly losing its load carrying capacity due to such factors as heavy traffic and weathering. In the case of site, the soil type, plasticity index, and specific gravity were SC, 12.2%, and 2.66, respectively. The maximum dry density, optimum moisture content and modified CBR were $1.895g/cm^3$ (Modified Compaction D), 13.6%, and 16.2%, respectively. A correlation of coefficient expressed good interrelationship by 0.90 between the CBR estimated from a dynamic penetration index of dynamic cone penetrometer test and a deformation modulus converted from a dynamic deflection modulus obtained from a portable FWD test.

Influence of Female Undergraduates upon Sociality and College Life Satisfaction (여대생의 사회성과 대학생활 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to understand about the influence of female undergraduates health behavior and health state upon sociality and the influence of sociality upon college life satisfaction. The subjects were 335 female junior-college students with major related to public health in Busan, Daegu, and Gyeongnam and were carried out questionnaire survey on general characteristics, sociality, college life satisfaction, health behavior, health status, and internet addiction. An analytical method was made through chi-square test, t-test, one-way ANOVA, ANOVA for trend, and structural equation modeling(SEM). As a result, the influence of accountability had the greatest influence as sub-factor. Accountability and age had a positive correlation(p<0.001). Accountability was low when self-cognitive body shape was very thin(p=0.005). In sociality, full age(p<0.001), self rated health(p<0.001), and physical education instruction for the 3rd grade of high school(p=0.004) showed direct effect. Also, sociality showed direct influence upon college life satisfaction. The older age, the higher self rated health, and the more instruction for the 3rd grade of high school led to the higher sociality, thereby having been indicated to be higher in college life satisfaction. Accordingly, a multi-dimensional effort is judged to be necessary for reinforcing physical education activity for high school students and for improving their quality of life as a plan for increasing college life satisfaction.

Association between oral health status and oral health impact profile(OHIP-14) among the community elderlies (노인의 객관적 구강건강상태와 주관적 구강건강수준간의 관련성)

  • Objectives : This study was attempted in order to grasp oral health level according to socio-demographic characteristics in elders in some communities, and to evaluate oral health status and its association. Methods : The subjects in this study were performed with 235 people, who were over 65 years and resided in Daejeon Province, from June 20 to July 10, 2011. An individual interview was held, and they got a dental checkup. As for data analysis, chi-square test, t-test, one-way ANOVA, pearson correlation were utilized. Results : The older age in the whole research subjects and the lower educational level led to the less remaining teeth and the larger missing teeth index. The decayed missing filled teeth index and the decayed missing filled teeth rate were higher in more women and older age and in the lower educational level. Tooth mortality rate was higher in the older age, the lower educational level, and the group of living together with spouse. The maxillary-mandibular fixed-bridge status in the mouth was indicated to be the highest in the full-denture mounting ratio as for elders in over 80 years old. Oral Health Impact Profile(OHIP-14) average score was $56.05{\pm}11.64$ in the whole research subjects The decayed missing filled teeth index and the decayed missing filled teeth rate showed significantly positive correlation with the decayed missing filled teeth rate, tooth mortality rate and showed significantly negative correlation with OHIP-14. Tooth mortality rate showed significantly negative correlation with OHIP-14 Oral Health Impact Profile(OHIP-14) showed significantly positive correlation with its factors. Conclusions : Accordingly, the policy effort is considered to be necessary that implements in elders in order to spend active senescence, and that elders' health and oral-health behavior can be implemented continuously and preventively through classification according to elders' physical function.
