  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the influence of effort-reward imbalance and job satisfaction on turnover intention among hospital nurses. Methods: Data were collected from January 28 to February 10, 2022, from 237 nurses from five hospitals including clinics, general hospitals, and tertiary care hospitals located in B city. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, the Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression analysis, using SPSS/WIN 26.0. Results: The average of the effort-reward ratio, an indicator of effort-reward imbalance, was 1.67±0.66, and 86.5% of the participants had a value of 1 or more. The mean job satisfaction and turnover intention were 3.32±0.48 and 3.69±0.89 on a 5-point scale, respectively. Multiple regression revealed that factors affecting turnover intention among hospital nurses included effort-reward imbalance (β=.30, p<.001) and job satisfaction (β=-.32, p<.001), and these variables explained 29.0% of turnover intention. Conclusion: These findings indicate that effort-reward imbalance and job satisfaction are associated with turnover intention. Therefore, to decrease the turnover intention of hospital nurses, interventions and policies should be prepared to resolve the nurse's effort-reward imbalance and increase job satisfaction at regional or national level hospitals.

  • The purposes of this study was to identify the dimensions of salesperson's effort and to examine the effect of salesperson's effort on relationship quality and customer intent to relationship continuity of middle upper class older female customers. The subjects used for the study were 202 middle upper class older female customers over 55 years living in Seoul. Factor analysis, paired t-test, multiple regression analysis and path analysis were used for statistics analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, 5 factors were identified for the dimensions of salesperson's effort in older female customer's perception: attentiveness/product competence/effective access/friendliness/ special treatment. The salesperson's effort perceived most importantly was friendliness. Second, the salesperson's effort perceived by customer had direct and indirect effects on customer intent to relationship continuity; indirect effect mediated by relationship quality was larger than the direct one. Relationship quality was proved to have a crucial role in customer intent to relationship continuity. The influences of dimensions of salesperson's effort were also investigated. The effective access affected considerably on customer intent to relationship continuity.

  • The current study focuses on the effect of the end shape of steel pipe piles on installation effort and bearing resistance using the pressing method of installation under dense ground conditions. The effect of pile rotation on the installation effort and bearing resistance is also investigated. The model steel piles with a flat end, cone end and cutting-edge end were used in this study. The test results indicated that cone end pile with the pressing method of installation required the least installation effort (load) and showed higher ultimate resistance than flat and cutting-edge end piles. However, pressing and rotation during cutting-edge end pile installation considerably reduces the installation effort (load and torque) if pile penetration in one rotation equal to the cutting-edge depth. Inclusion of rotation during pile installation reduces the ultimate bearing resistance. However, if penetration of the cutting-edge end pile equal to the cutting-edge depth in one rotation, the reduction in ultimate resistance can be minimized. In comparing the cone and cutting-edge end piles installed with pressing and rotation, the least installation effort is observed in the cutting-edge end pile installed with penetration rate equal to the cutting-edge depth per rotation.

  • Unit testing is one of the test levels, which tests an individual unit or a group of related units. Recently, in Agile Development or Safety-critical System Development, the unit testing plays an important role for the qualities. According to the definition of unit testing, it is supposed to be done by the developers of units. That is because test models for the unit testing refers to the structure of units, and others but its original developers hardly can understand the structures. However, in practice, unit testing is often asked to be done without the original developers. For example, it is when faults are revealed in customer sites and the development team does not exit any more. In this case, instead of original developers, other developers or test engineers take a product and test it. The unit testing done by a non-developer, who is not the original developer, would cause some difficulties or cause more cost. In this paper, we tests an open source, JTopas, as a non-developer, with building test models, implementing test codes, and executing test cases. To fit this experiment to practical testing situations, we designed it based on the practices of unit testing, which were surveyed through SPIN(Software Process Improvement Network). This paper analyzes which part of unit testing done by non-developers needs more effort compared to the unit testing done by original developers. And it concludes that Agile Development contributes on reducing the extra effort caused by non-developers, since it implements test codes first before developing source code. That means all the units have already included their own tests code when they are released.

  • Most of the proposed SRGMs are required to perfect debugging based on removal of defect as soon as the detection of defects in system tests. But the detected defects are corrected after few days as a fixed time or induced new fault in software under the imperfect debugging environments. Solving these problems, we discussed that the formal software reliability model considered testing-effort for the fault detection and correction of software defects, and then using this model we have estimated of the software reliability closed to practical conditions.

  • Many software reliability growth model(SRGM) have been proposed for past several decades. Most of these propositions assumed the S/W debugging testing efforts be constant or even did not consider them. A few papers were presented as the software reliability evaluation considering the testing effort was important afterwards. The testing effort forms which have been presented by this kind of papers were exponential, Rayleigh, Weibull, or Logistic functions, and one of these 4 types was used as a testing effort function depending on the S/W developing circumstances. We consider the methology to evaluate the SRGN using least square estimator(LSE) and maximum likelihood estimator(MLE) for those 4 functions, and then examine parameters applying actual data adopted from real field test of developing S/W.

  • Proper door effort is required for the safety of passenger and pedestrian while securing door operating convenience. 3D finite element analyses for a hybrid door checker were carried out to estimate door checker arm resistance force. And, from the estimated door checker arm resistance force and theoretically calculated self-closing force, door effort was predicted. The analysis results at checker arm peaks showed excellent correlation with the test results. Also, in order to reduce solving time, a modified model with simple spring element was investigated. Finally an equation to easily calculate checker arm resistance force from checker arm shape and spring constant was suggested and its usefulness in early design stage was discussed.

  • Door effort was calculated for a new door checker with torsion bar spring and integrated checker case by FE analysis. A hybrid checker arm which has peaks and valleys only on the upper surface was adopted to reduce noise in operation and make operation with more distinctive steps. The checker arm was modeled using shell elements to estimate both the longitudinal and the lateral resistance force by checker arm. By combining the checker arm resistance force obtained from analysis and the door self-closing force by the theoretical calculation, door effort was predicted to show the good correlation with test results. In addition the unrolling effect of roller model was investigated and a new roller type for more smooth rolling was studied.

  • Many software reliability growth models(SRGM) have been proposed since the software reliability issue was raised in 1972. The technology to estimate and grow the reliability of developing S/W to target value during testing phase were developed using them. I propose the methology to evaluate the SRGM using least square estimator and maximum likelihood estimator for those 4 functions, and then examine parameters applying actual data adopted from real field test of developing S/W.
