  • K-$BEtest^{(R)}$ is a well known program for bioequivalence test using a $2{\times}2$ design. Lee et al.(1998) and Park et al.(1999) suggested a $3{\times}3$ and $3{\times}2$ design, and also discussed their benefits. We developed a computer program, called BioEquiv, which can analyze some complex experimental designs such as, $3{\times}3$ design and $3{\times}2$ design including a standard $2{\times}2$ design. This program is a user-friendly one and overcomes the disadvantages of K-$BEtest^{(R)}$. The detailed statistical formula and structure of BioEquiv are presented with some examples. The comparison between K-$BEtest^{(R)}$ and BioEquiv are given with actual data analysis. BioEquiv is able to present a table of ANOVA test over some complex experimental designs. Moreover K-$BEtest^{(R)}$ and BioEquiv draw the same result when data consists of $2{\times}2$ design.

  • Rapid prototyping technology has been widely applied to the design process in the industry. This technology made it easy to generate a prototype which acts like a real product in logic. However, this technology has not been validated sufficiently as a usability test method. The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis : There was no significant difference between a real product and its prototype. An experiment was designed to test it statistically. a microwave oven was selected and its prototype was generated using a rapid prototyping tool. Six subjects used the microwave oven and another six subjects used the prototype to perform five scenario tasks. As a result, there was significant difference between the real product and prototype in success rate, task completion time, and number of buttons pressed. The prototype was more difficult to operate than the real product. Therefore we should be careful when we apply rapid prototyping. technology. In the discussions, the causes of the difference were identified and some guidelines were suggested for who wants to apply rapid prototyping tool to the usability test.

  • Purpose: This study carried out the Quality by Design (QbD)6σ process to verify the effectiveness and equivalence of the finished D-antigen quantitative test method, and compared the OFAT-based method validation and test result acceptance criteria with the Analytical Quality by Design (AQbD)-based method validation and test method. This is a study on how to reduce the risk of delay in permit change by increasing the reliability of permit data in the existing method by statistically analyzing the results. Methods: With the QbD6σ process, the effectiveness and equivalence of the D-antigen quantitative test method were verified with the data of the existing test method and the new test method. Results: Method validation tests are performed based on AQbD. Critical Method Parameters are identified through risk assessment, and single/combined actions are verified by designing and performing tests for Critical Method Parameters (analysis of variance, full factorial design method). Method validation can be effectively accomplished with the QbD6σ process. Conclusion: The use of QbD6σ can be used to achieve satisfactory results for both pharmaceutical companies and regulators by using appropriate statistical analytical methods for method validation as required by regulatory agencies.

  • A software engineering process has been developed for the design of safety critical software for Wolsong 2/3/4 project to satisfy the requirement of the regulatory body. Among the process, this paper described the detail process of validation testing peformed to ensure that the software with its hardware, developed by the design group, satisfies the requirements of the functional specification prepared by the independent functional group. To perform the test, test facility and test software ore developed and actual safety system computer was connected. Three kinds of test cases, i.e., functional test performance test and self-check test were programmed and run to verify each functional specifications. Test failures ore fedback to the design group to revise the software and test result were analyzed and documented in the report to submit to the regulatory body. The test methodology and procedure were very efficient and satisfactory to perform the systematic and automatic test. The test results were also acceptable and successful to verify the software acts as specified in the program functional specification. This methodology can be applied to the validation of other safety-critical software.

  • Background: Air-purifying, tight-fitting facepieces are examples of respiratory protective equipment and are worn to protect workers from potentially harmful particulate and vapors. Research shows that the presence of facial hair on users' face significantly reduces the efficacy of these devices. This article sets out to establish if an acceptable seal could be achieved between facial hair and the facepiece. The team also created and investigated a low-cost "pressure testing" method for assessing the efficacy of a seal to be used during the early design process for a facepiece designed to overcome the facial hair issue. Methods: Nine new designs for face mask seals were prototyped as flat samples. A researcher developed a test rig, and a test protocol was used to evaluate the efficacy of the new seal designs against facial hair. Six of the seal designs were also tested using a version of the conventional fit test. The results were compared with those of the researcher-developed test to look for a correlation between the two test methods. Results: None of the seals performed any better against facial hair than a typical, commercially available facepiece. The pressure testing method devised by the researchers performed well but was not as robust as the fit factor testing. Conclusion: The results show that sealing against facial hair is extremely problematic unless an excessive force is applied to the facepiece's seal area pushing it against the face. The means of pressure testing devised by the researchers could be seen as a low-cost technique to be used at the early stages of a the design process, before fit testing is viable.

  • The butterfly valve has been used over all industries. It has been studied to improve its performance through the theoretical analysis and the test in industry. Though products adopted those improvements have been sold in markets, manufacturers often launch products without the life test. One reason is because of the long development period and financial difficulties. The other is the lack of the design and fabrication experiences on building the life test equipment. Thus, this study has been researched for the design and fabrication of our life test equipment, and developed and improved the equipment to check the leakage of the valve with the naked eyes during the test.

  • Integrated performance test of Chemical and Volume Control System was successfully performed in 1994. However, an extensive effort to correct hardware and software problems in the letdown line was required mainly due to the lack of adequate simulation code to predict the test accurately. Although the LTC computer code was used during the YGN 3'||'&'||'4 NSSS design process, the code can not satisfactorily predict the test due to it insufficient letdown line modeling. This study developed a numerical model to simulate the letdown test by modifying the current LTC code, and then verified the model by comparing with the test data. The comparison shows that the modified LTC computer code can predict the transient behavior of letdown system lese very well. Especially, the model was verified to be able to predict the "Stiction (composition of stick and friction)" phenomena which caused instantaneous fluctuations in the letdown backpressure and flowrate. Therefore, it is concluded that the modified LTC computer code with the ability of calculating the "Stiction" phenomena will be very useful for future plant design and test predictions.predictions.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to suggest an environmental test plan for reducing early failure. Methods: We study the preferred test design and tests that are performed substantially in the company. We investigate the environmental profile on the actual supply chain and identify the effectiveness for this test design. Results: Proposed sequential test designed to implement the supply chain on the environment profile showed more effective results compared to existing tests. Conclusion: Suggested sequential test in this paper will be an effective guidance for the given environment test.
