Development of A Test Apparatus for Control Rod Drive Mechanism in Nuclear Power Plants

  • In this paper, a DSP-based test apparatus for Control Rod Drive Mechanism (CRDM) that is used in nuclear power plants is described. Using this apparatus, we can test the mechanical and electrical characteristics of CRDM and obtain some information about how to improve the CRDM further and how to design a power controller to actuate the CRDM. Since firing angles can be directly applied to the gate-drive circuits of thyristors in the power controller by using this apparatus, the maximum and minimum values of firing angles within available limits are easily measured. Also step-current inputs help us investigate each coil's response characteristics. Therefore, we can easily find the range of control gains which enables a stable CRDM operation in insertion and withdrawal actions at high speed, mid speed, and low speed. Since this apparatus has a test mode in which an insertion or withdrawal action is divided into several phases so that the current command for each phase is given step by step, we may judge whether the CRDM works as expected or not. We also describe a fault detection capability of the test apparatus for the power controller by using discrete Fourier transform.

간이 차음시험장치 개발 (Development of a Simplified Test Apparatus for Measuring Sound Transmission Loss)

  • This study deals with the performance of a simplified test apparatus for measurement of sound insulation of panels. In order to investigate its performance, results from experiment and theory of the sound transmission loss for single and double panels are compared. Comparative results show that in evaluation of the sound insulation performance, the test apparatus has a cumbersome problem at the low frequency region, i.e. below 315 ㎐, presumably because of the poor diffuse sound field in the chambers. Meanwhile at the high frequency, it shows a considerable results comparable to the theoretical prediction. One of the objective of this study that compares measured results between a real reverberation chamber and a simplified test apparatus, by using a specimen of a sandwich panel. It shows qualitatively resonable agreement from which one can find a potential to provide a design tool.

퀸스톤 제일의 시간의존적 변형거동 (Time-dependent Deformation Behaviour of Queenston Shale)

  • 본고는 팽장성 암석들의 시간의존적변형의 측정을 위한 실험장치와 실험고과에 관해서 설명한다. 새로운 실험장치들은 개선된 일축벽축하의 팽난시험, 일축 인장하의 인창시험과 이축 응력하의 팽 복시험을 위해서 제작하였다. 본 실험장치들은 암반파착시 지반에 작용하는 단순화된 헌력상태하에 있는 암반의 시간의존적 변형을 제 수직방향에서 측정한다. 지난 몇년간에 걸쳐서 얻은 실험결과에 의하면 본 실험장치들은 세공적으로 작동하는 것으로 나타났다. 실험결과로 보면, 퀸스톤 체일(Queenston shale)의 자유변형조건하에서의 시간의존적 변형 거동은 층리면과 수직인 방향에서는 층리면과 평행인 방향에서보다 약간 더 많은 역접이 일어나는 이방성적 거동을 보인다. 한 방향에 응력을 받을 때에는 응력이 작용하는 방향은 물론 그와 수직되는 방향의 역장성변형이 억제된다.

소형궤도 차량 제어를 위한 모의실험 장치 설계 (A Design of a Simulation Apparatus for the Control of the Personal Rapid Transit(PRT) Vehicles)

  • This paper presents a design of a simulation apparatus to evaluate an operational control algorithm for the PRT system. PRT systems require very short headways to increase the line capacity and a very reliable vehicle control algorithm for avoidance of the impact between vehicles. Therefore, it can be said that the development of an reliable operational control algorithm for the PRT systems is much more important than that of the hardware configurations. In this paper an apparatus is proposed which is composed of virtual vehicles, a central control system, a man-machine interface and monitoring device, making it possible for the designed operational control algorithm to be implemented and tested. For the test of the proposed apparatus a test operational control algorithm is designed and the experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed simulation apparatus for test and evaluation of the PRT operational control algorithms.

  • In this paper, a test apparatus for reliability evaluation of a rotary compressor has been suggested with a short-cycle concept. $CO_2$ refrigerant is adopted for this cycle to avoid phase change during cycle operation. Evaporator is not necessary in short-cycle. Utilizing a short-cycle, the test apparatus was built on the purpose of evaluating the reliability of each rotary compressor on the conveyer belt of the factory. The primary validation of the test apparatus is discussed by analyzing the experimental heat balance data. Additional validation was performed through the overload continuous operation test where the wear rate of the $CO_2$ short-cycle was found to similar to that of the R22 normal-cycle. The reliability evaluation test apparatus with a short-cycle in present investigation was found simple and efficient in the view of reducing sample numbers, costs, and test time in analyzing the reliability of rotary compressors.

A novel dual stress/strain-controlled direct simple shear apparatus to study shear strength and shear creep of clay

  • Direct simple shear test is an effective method to measure strength and deformation properties of soil. However, existing direct simple shear apparatus have some shortcomings. The paper has developed a novel dual stress/strain-controlled direct simple shear apparatus. The novel apparatus has the following advantages: A rectangular specimen is used that effectively avoid common issues associated with conventional cylindrical specimens, such as specimen tilting. The utilization of deformation control rods ensures a uniform shear deformation of the specimen. Vertically integrated force transmission structure is improved that avoids issues arising from changes in pivot points due to lever tilting. Incorporating this novel direct simple shear apparatus, shear strength and shear creep tests of clay were performed. Shear strength parameters and shear creep behaviors are analyzed. The results of these experiments show that the novel apparatus can measure accurately the shear rheological properties of soil. This study provides strong guidance for studying the mechanical properties of soil in engineering practice.

정압(CD)조건 직접전단시험에 있어서 시험기의 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improvement of Shear Test Apparatus in the Direct Shear Test Under Constant Pressure)

  • 직접전단시험은 측방변위 구속형의 일면·단순전단시험과 측방변위 비구속형의 비들림 전단시험으로 대별된다. 현재까지도 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 직접전단시험은 시험기 및 시험방법과 결과의 해석 등에 몇 가지의 문제점이 있었으며, 특히 사질토에서는 강도가 과대하게 평가되는 등의 지적이 있었다. 또한 시험기구상의 제약으로부터 전단과정 중 진행성 파괴를 일으키는 점, 공시체내의 전단변형량과 전단응력이 일정하지 않기 때문에 전단변형량을 정의할 수 없는 점 등이 있다. 한편 단순전단시험은 직접전단시험의 장점을 그대로 가지면서, 공시체에 일정한 전단변형을 전달할 수 있기 때문에 전단에 대한 응력-변형량 관계를 얻을 수 있는 이상적인 시험법이라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 단순전단시험은 그 구조상, 시험기제작이 어려운 점 등 아직도 실용적인 시험기의 완성에는 도달하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 간이 전단시험방법 및 시험기의 문제점을 개선한 개량형 일면전단 시험기의 제작과 일본 지반공학회 토질시험법의 기준화과정에서 얻은 시험결과를 바탕으로 시험기의 개요와 시험법의 개선, 정압조건의 시험결과에 대해 서술하였다.

마운트의 음향강성 측정을 위한 시험장치 개발 (A Development of the Test Apparatus for Measuring the Acoustic Stiffness of Resilient Mounts)

  • Resilient mounting is effective measures to reduce the structure-borne noise and radiated noise for many applications. The acoustic stiffness (frequency-dependent stiffness) of resilient mounts is an important parameter required in order to model vibration isolation with high accuracy. It is general to use measurement method for obtaining acoustic stiffness of complex resilient mounts under static preload. In this paper, the principles of measuring acoustic stiffness were described and the developed test apparatus was introduced. Also, the feasibility of the test apparatus is illustrated by measurement results of a resilient mount.

  • In this paper, we propose a test method to evaluate the reliability of the recliner sofa in the early stage of production. In order to develop the test method, we analyzed the failure mechanism occurring in the field and designed the performance test, environmental test, accelerated life test methods based on the analysis of failure mechanism. The failure mechanism is reproduced by applying the designed test. The reliability of the recliner sofa can be verified at the production stage through the proposed test method.

관입식 통수능 실험의 수치해석 (Numerical Analyses about Test Results of Discharge Capacity Apparatus Using Penetration Method)

  • This thesis is results of numerical analyses about test results of discharge capacity apparatus using penetration method. Applicability of numerical approach with FEM technique, using Cam-clay model, was confirmed by analyzing the results of standard consolidation test before analyzing test results of discharge capacity apparatus using penetration method. Thus, input parameters for the model was convinced to be appropriate. For numerical analyses about test results of discharge capacity apparatus using penetration method, identical initial and loading conditions during tests were applied to simulate test results correctly. Effects of ground disturbance resulted from installment of vertical drains on the behaviors of consolidation were also simulated. Applicability of numerical approach was investigated by comparing test results with numerical ones. As results of them, both of consolidation settlement were found to be in good agreements so that its applicability was confirmed. As results of numerical estimation, degree of consolidation with the condition of considering smear zone was found to be delayed, compared with results without smear zone. On the other hands, parametric numerical analyses of changing parameters related to smear zone such as permeability and size of smear zone and permeability of vertical drain were also carried out.
