Determinants of Amount of Service Use in Community-Based Long-term Care for Elders (노인장기요양보험 재가서비스 이용량 결정요인)

  • Purpose: This study was done to explore factors related to amount of service use for elders with long-term care needs. Methods: A descriptive-correlation design was used. The sample included 259 elders and their primary caregivers who had cared for the elders for at least 6 months. Data on long-term care need assessment, service use and interviews with primary caregivers were analyzed. Results: There was no significant relationship between the sociodemographic characteristics and the amount of services use. Amount of service use differed significantly by Long-term care classification. The mean scores for class 1, 2 and 3 were 22.68, 21.47 and 17.87 days respectively. Primary caregiver relationship with the elders and the number of family-friend helpers were also significant. Multivariate regression analysis showed that gender, marital status, activities of daily living, cognitive impairment, and secondary caregiver support explained 17% of the total variance of service use among these elders (F=3.50, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that critical factors including secondary caregiver support and individual background, and other functional dependencies except for physical function should be considered in accurately predicting the amount of service use for community dwelling elders with long-term care needs.

Relationship between Cognitive Function, Self-esteem, and Depression among Patients in Long-term care Hospitals (요양병원 노인환자의 인지기능, 자아존중감 및 우울과의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between cognitive function, self-esteem, and depression among patients in long-term care hospitals. Methods: The study participants were 159 patients from 2 long-term care hospitals in Kyungki province. Data were collected from January 2 to February 5, 2013, by conducting across-sectional descriptive survey using a structured questionnaire administered by researchers. Results: Cognitive function and depression were significantly different according to age, education level and marriage. Self-esteem was significantly different according to education level and economic status. Self-esteem was significantly positively correlated with cognitive function, which in contrast showed a significant negative correlation with depression. Among our subjects, those older than 80 years showed low cognitive function and those with low educational attainment showed high scores of depression. Conclusion: We conclude that, elderly patients in long-term care hospitals who have low educational attainment should be carefully monitored, especially by nurses, for cognitive function and depression. In addition, nurses should have constant communication with their patients. Moreover, long-term care hospitals should apply early detection of and a management system for cognitive impairment and depression among their patients.

  • The objective of this paper is to investigate the relationship between the short-term creep rupture time and the creep rupture properties at three different elevated temperatures in STS304 stainless steel. Uniaxial constant stress creep rupture tests were performed on the steel to observe the creep rupture behaviors at the elevated temperatures of 600, 650 and 700, according to the testing matrix. It is very important to predict creep life in practical creep design problems. As one of the series of studies on the statistical modelling of probabilistic creep rupture time and the development of creep life prediction techniques, the relationship between applied stress and creep rupture behaviors, such as creep strain rate and rupture time, were investigated. In addition, the Monkman-Grant relationship was observed between the steady-state creep rate and the creep rupture time. The creep rupture surfaces observed by SEM showed up dimple phenomenon at all conditions.

The Impact of the RMB Exchange Rate Expectations on Foreign Direct Investment in China

  • Purpose: As a major economy attracting foreign investment, China is currently facing significant international economic pressure due to the appreciation of the RMB. Additionally, China is at a critical period of socio-economic development, where foreign direct investment (FDI) plays an indispensable role in stabilizing economic growth, adjusting industrial structure, and promoting economic transformation. Research design, data and methodology: This paper focuses on the relationship between RMB exchange rate expectations and FDI. It examines the magnitude of their relationship through empirical research using cointegration tests, Granger causality tests, and BVAR (Bayesian Vector Autoregression) analysis. Results: The comprehensive study of the empirical results in this paper concludes that there is a long-term cointegrated relationship between China's RMB exchange rate expectations and foreign direct investment, indicating that their relationship is stable in the long run. It is also found that RMB exchange rate expectations have a significantly positive impact in the short term, but this impact is not significant in the long term. Conclusions: The paper also considers the possibility of establishing a China-EU Free Trade Area in the future and offers policy recommendations regarding RMB exchange rate expectations and foreign direct investment.

  • This study aims to analyze a relationship marketing of freight forwarders, and based on this, customer's satisfaction, trust, and long-term relationship orientation are additionally analyzed. Through previous research, a relationship marketing of freight forwarders is considered, at the same time, the key factors of a relationship marketing is divided into reputation, physical feature, size, and professionalism. Targets of survey are companies which are registered in Korea complex transportation forward association. And a total of 292 questionnaires are collected from freight forwarder in Basan and Kyongnam from November 7 through November 18 in 2011. The result of hypothesis testing, show that relations between freight forwarders and customers is mightily important. In the future research, what effects of maintaining relation between freight forwarders and customers should be analyzed.

  • This paper presents an incentive system to reduce response time from a supplier. The incentive system is expressed as a contract between an assembler and a supplier who have a long-term relationship. We produce the optimal payment scheme and expected total cost, when the assembler is farsighted. We show that the farsighted assembler obtains higher effort level from the supplier than the myopic assembler. We also show that the expected total cost of the farsighted assembler is smaller in the long run, although it is initially higher than that of the myopic assembler.

  • In this paper, the long-term reliability for 1.25G transceiver in use of high speed optical access network is investigated. High temperature storage tests and accelerated life tests are used to long-term reliability. Accelerated aging test have been during 3,000 hour of the three accelerated aging conditions by caused high temperature stress. Mean life is assumed to follow the Arrhenius relationship and analysis from the failure data obtained in the accelerated aging conditions.

The important factors for the successful logistical relationship are customer orientation, service timeliness, reciprocal dependability, keeping long-term relationships, and logistics cost savings.   • The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors of conflict formation, conflict resolution type, and relationship performance between convenience store franchise headquarters and franchise stores operated by the franchise system located in the metropolitan area. The conclusion could be summarized as follows. First, according to factor analysis based on the previous research, the factor of conflict between convenience store headquarters and franchisee was tied to three factors such as goal disagreement, doctrinal discrepancy, and interdependence, whereas conflict resolution type was linked to three factors such as cooperation type, attack type, and avoidance type. Finally, the relationship performance is tied to three factors: financial performance, long-term cooperation, and non-financial performance. Second, as a result of Hypothesis 1, the interdependence was positively correlated when the cooperative type was the dependent variable. The target discrepancy was significantly positive(+) when the aggressive type was the dependent variable. The interdependence was significantly negative(-) when the avoidance type was the dependent variable. There also was a significantly positive(+) relationship in the target disagreement. Third, for Hypothesis 2, it is shown that target inconsistency is negative(-) for all cases where financial performance, long-term cooperation, and non-financial performance are dependent variables. Fourth, for Hypothesis 3, when the financial performance is the dependent variable, only the cooperative type shows a positive(+) relationship. On the other hand, when the long-term cooperation and the non-financial aptitude are the dependent variables, the cooperative type has a significant positive(+) relationship.
