This study has attempted to derived an optimum fiber replacing ratio for practical use by measuring tensile strength and length deformation followed by variation of fiber replacing ratio among the basic characteristics of HPFRCC in order to evaluate the possibility of practical use of HPFRCC. As a result of performing experiment and research, the optimum replacement ratio was determined at the fiber replacing ratio of 1.5% when compressive strength, tensile strength and tensile stress-strain curve.

Rapid Prototyping (RP) technology has been advanced to fabricate initial prototypes from various materials. Stratasys′ Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is one of the typical RP processes that provide functional prototypes of ABS plastic. In order to predict the behavior of final ABS parts, it is critical to understand the material properties of the raw FDM process material, and the effect that FDM build parameters have on the FDM part. In this paper, we seek to characterize the properties of ABS parts fabricated by the FDM 1650. Using the Design of Experiment (DOE) approach, the process parameters of FDM, such as raster orientation, air gap, bead width, color, and model temperature were examined. Tensile strengths of crisscross specimens, 〔45°/-45°〕, cross specimens, 〔0°/90°〕, and directionally fabricated tensile specimens (〔0°〕 and 〔90°〕) were measured and compared with the injection molded FDM-ABS P400 material. For the FDM parts made with a -0.003"air gap, the typical tensile strength ranged between 50 percent and 83 percent of the strength of injection molded ABS P400. From the experiments, a couple of build rules for designing FDM parts were obtained.
This study has been carried out to determine the change of mechanical properties and microstructures by the heattreatment to relieve the residual stresses for gray cast irons. The results have been obtained from the experiment as follows; 1) The annealing above $600^{\circ}C$ for the stress relieving of gray cast iron decrease the tensile strength and hardness 2) The decrease reates of tensile strength and hardness of gray cast iron after annealing above $600^{\circ}C$ are increased with increasing the holding time. 3) The gray cast iron containing the elements of Mn, Cr has increased the heating temperature for the decrease of tensile strength and hardness. 4) The decrease of mechanical properties by annealing are assumed that the formation of ferrite takes placed from the decomposition of eutectoid cementite in the matrix.
This study was conducted to explore the tensile strength models in granular soil at the full range of unsaturated state. Direct tension experiments were carried out with a newly developed direct tension technique. The measured experimental data were compared with theoretical models developed by Rumpf and Schubert for monosized ideal particulate solids at the unsaturated state. To do this, the soil-water characteristic curve obtained from a suction-saturation experiment was used to define the unsaturation state and the negative pore water pressure with different water content levels, which are important factors in theoretical tensile strength models. The nonlinear behavior of the tensile strength for unsaturated granular soil at the pendular state is appropriately simulated with Rumpf's model. For the funicular and capillary states, the predicted trend by Schubert's model is properly matched with the experimental data: tensile strength steadily increases and reaches a maximum value and then decreases until it reaches zero. This comparison supports the concept that the tensile strength of unsaturated real granular soil can be approximately simulated with theoretical models.

Theoretical and experimental study of the unconfined penetration (UP) test was conducted to suggest a new test method (referred to as IUP, Improved Unconfined Penetration) for determination of the tensile strength of compacted sand-bentonite mixtures. The tensile strength of compacted mixtures can be calculated from limit analysis based on the theory of perfect plasticity. The measurement errors in new test method were reduced by improving the UP device. Preliminary experiment results indicate that the tensile strength increases with increasing the disk size, loading rate and pH level. In addition, the disk diameter with 25.4 mm and the loading rate with 0.5%/min~1%/min are most suitable condition for the IUP test. The reliability of IPU test was verified by through the fact that good agreement between the IUP and conventional split tensile test results is observed.

A new method of evaluating critical damage values of commercial materials is presented in this paper. The method is based on the previous study of the methodology [1] of acquisition of true stress-strain curves or flow stress curves over large strain from the tensile test in which the flow stress is described by the Hollomon law-like form, that is, by the strain dependent strength coefficient and the strain hardening exponent. The strain hardening exponent is calculated from the true strain at the necking point to meet the Considere condition. The strength coefficient is assumed to be constant before necking and represented by a piecewise linear function of strain after necking. With the predicted flow stress, a tensile test is simulated by a rigid-plastic finite element method with higher accuracy of less than 0.5% error between experiments and predictions. The instant when the fracture begins and thus the critical damage is obtained is determined by observing the stress variation at the necked region. It is assumed that the fracture due to damage begins when the pattern of stress around the necked region changes radically. The method is applied to evaluate the critical damage of a low carbon steel.
The load transfer mechanism and load-bearing capacity of cast steel joints for H-shaped beam to square tube column connection are studied based on the deformation compatibility theory. Then the monotonic tensile experiments are conducted for 12 specimens about the cast steel joints for H-shaped beam to square tube column connection. The findings are that the tensile bearing capacity of the cast steel joints for beam-column connection depends on the ring of cast steel stiffener. The tensile fracture happens at the ring of the cast steel stiffener when the joint fails. The thickness of square tube column has little influence on the bearing capacity of the joint. The square tube column buckles while the joint without concrete filled, but the strength failure happens for the joint with concrete filled column. And the length of welding connection between square tube column and cast steel stiffener has little influence on the load-bearing capacity of the cast steel joint. Finally it is shown that the load-bearing capacity of the joints for H-shaped beam to concrete filled square tube column connection is larger than that of the joints for H-shaped beam to square tube column connection by 10% to 15%.

Heating pipes burst was occurred in the apartment complex that was applied floor radiant heating system. There were two opinions for the cause of the bursted heating pipes that was the flaw during construction and defects in the product and also there were conflicting among them. Officials analyzed it in order to investigate the cause of the rupture. Tensile test results showed different tensile strength between the lower part of heating pipe and the upper part of heating pipes. The lower tensile strength is maintained while the top was not secured. The reason why rupture heating pipes is that flow velocity isn't secured and then the air get stagnant. Stagnant air makes hardening. It is caused rupturing. The proper flow rate was confirmed 0.166 m/sec after experiment. It isn't make stagnant air inside heating pipes.

Cable member in structure is tension systems in which the load carrying members transmit loads to support system by tensile stress with no compression or flexure allowed. Cable system have been widely used large span structure roof, air-supported structure, prestressed membrane, cable network roof, suspension structures, guyed tower, ocean platforms, suspension bridges. Cable member can transmit loads by the edge connected system such as socket, swaging, mechanical splice sleave, clip, wedge, loop splice etc. This study will shown an experimental results on the strength of connection socket of cables. In the results of experiment, most of cable connection specimen occurred the failure at the connection socket part before the cable arrived at tensile failure load.
Welding is very popular method for joining two or more metals. However, welding causes residual stress and distortion and these give a bad influence to the structure strength. In this paper, TIG welding technique was performed to investigate the joint characteristics of AISI321 steel. For its evaluation, the orthogonal array method and variance analysis were applied with three factors of electric current, travel speed and argon gas and also three levels of each factor to tensile tests for optimum design. From the results, the increaser weld speed the narrower bead width and the lower weld penetration. The increaser electric current the brighter argon gas and the wider bead width. Also weld speed influenced most on the tensile strength and presumption range of tensile strength at optimal condition from reliability 95% was estimated to $635.02{\pm}14.64$. In addition the increaser weld speed and electric current the fracture occurred around bead vicinity.
