  • The problem addressed in this paper is the accurate tracting of a dynamic target using outputs from a forward - looking infrared(FLIR) sensor as measurements. The important variations are 1) the spread of the target intensity pattern in the FLIR image plane, 2) target motion characteristics, and 3) the rms value and both spartial and temporal correlation of the back - ground noise. Based on this insights. design modifications and on - line adaptation copabilities are incorporated to enable this type of filter track highly maneuverable targets such as air-to-air missiles, with spatially distributed and changing image intensity profiles, against, background clutter.

[3]. • In the development of sheet-handling machinery, it is important to predict the static and dynamic behavior of the sheets with a high degree of reliability. Flexible media is very thin, very light and very flexible so it behaves geometric nonlinearity of large displacement and large rotation but small strain. In this paper, static and dynamic analyses of flexible media are performed by dynamic FEM considering geometric nonlinearity. Mass and tangent stiffness matrices based on the Co-rotational(CR) approach are derived and numerical simulations are performed by full Newton-Raphson(FNR) method and Newmark integration scheme.

  • In this paper, we propose a 4-transistor active pixel sensor(APS) with a novel correlated double sampling(CDS) circuit for the purpose of extending dynamic range. Dual sampling techniques can overcome low-sensitivity and temporal disparity problems at low illumination. To accomplish this, two images are obtained at the same time using different sensitivities. The novel CDS circuit proposed in this paper contains MOS switches that make it possible for the capacitance of a conventional CDS circuit to function as a charge pump, so that the proposed APS exhibits an extended dynamic range as well as reduced noise. The designed circuit was fabricated by using $0.35{\mu}m$ 2-poly 4-metal standard CMOS technology and its characteristics have been evaluated.

  • This paper describes the principle behind Crank Angle Analysis, as implemented by Bruel & Kjaer in the Non-Stationary Spatial Transformation of Sound Fields (NS-STSF) system. The NS-STSF system combines a Time Domain Holography measurement on for example an engine with two simultaneously recorded Tacho signals. The Tacho signals provide the crankshaft angle and the RPM at the instant of each instantaneous output (snap-shot) from Time Domain Holography. As a result, the system allows precise analysis of the temporal and spatial relation between the acoustical emission (or the vibration pattern) and the mechanical events during an engine cycle. Some results from a measurement on a DaimlerChrysler engine are presented.

  • Listening effort represents the listener's attention, stress, required cognition resource, and mental exertion to understand a speech in various situations. Recently, it has been focused to evaluate an effectiveness of hearing aids and cochlear implant. The physiologic measures, such as heart rate, skin conductance, electroencephalography, and pupil dilation, have been used to objectively measure listening effort. In this study, we investigated the feasibility of temporal and spectral heart rate variabilities to measure listening effort to understand speech in the presence of background noise. The results showed that several heart rate variabilities significantly increased as increasing background noise level. Finally, the heart rate variability can be used as an objective tool to measure listening efforts.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a band stop filter (BSF) for pre-processing of image sequences before encoding. By pixel-wise temporal filtering of the image sequences using the BSF, the bandwidth and noise of the signal are reduced, while preserving the image quality in view of human visual perceptions. As a result, when compared to the original image sequences, te pre-filtered image sequence requires lower bit-rates for encoding, while there is not much degradation in quality. Also, it has been shown that the proposed BSF causes less smearing and blurring than the conventional recursive low pass filter for bandwidth and noise reductions.

  • Coherence describing the similarity between physical quantities of two signals is a very useful tool to investigate the temporal and spatial characteristics of signals propagating in underwater acoustic waveguide. Ambient noise measurements were made by the vertical received array consisting of three hydrophones as part of the KIOST-HYU joint acoustics experiment, and the coherence for the underwater ambient noise was analyzed. In this paper, the coherence results in cases that the generator in the research vessel was off and turned on are presented. The coherence estimated in the case of the generator operation mode are compared to the predictions obtained using the theoretical model with the directional density function dominated by vertical components propagating downward from the ship. In the case of the generator switch-off, the results are compared to the model predictions with directional density function including the effects of sea surface noise and long-distance shipping noise.

  • Even though MCG has many advantages over ECG, MCG signa)s are easily corrupted by external magnetic noises Since multi-channel MCG signals are recorded simultaneously at many spatial positions, it is effective to apply spatial fitters as well as the conventional temporal filters to remove external magnetic noises. The spatial filters can be designed by utilizing the fact that the noise signals caused by external noise sources are more spatially correlated than the original MCG signals. In this paper, we introduce a spatial filtering method for the noise reduction in MCG based on the principal component analysis. Healthy volunteer study results obtained with a 61-channel MCG system are presented.

  • In heterogeneous networks SVC (Scalabile Video Coding) will be used for IPTV service. This paper analyses how to determine the optimal inter-layer reference scheme according to final level to be displayed in hybrid scalable coding which consists of spatial, quality and temporal layer. It determines where to stop layering quality layer stacks in lower spatial layer according to the relationship between noise induced by loss of high frequency component eliminated by filter in order to get rid of aliasing when spatial layering is processed and noise induced by quantization when quality layering is processed. This paper shows the choice of the level of layering between spatial and quality to get better coding efficiency and then presents what is needed for determining it.
