고속 자유/벽 제트 영역에서의 총온도 특성 고찰 (Total temperature investigation in free & wall jet regions)

  • 고속의 자유 제트 및 표면 충돌시 나타나는 벽제트 내에서의 총온도 분포가 측정되어졌다. 자유제트에서는 노즐 출구로부터 측정거리를 달리하며(Z/D=1,2,4,6) 외기를 포함하여 총온도 분포가 측정되었으며, 제트와 외기간 전단층에서의 에너지 분리현상을 확인하였다. 벽제트 영역에서는 충돌거리가 짧은 경우에 대하여 반경위치를 달리하며(R/D=1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2.0) 총온도 분포를 측정하여 벽제트 경계 및 벽근방에서의 에너지 분리현상을 확인하였으며, 단열벽면온도 분포와 이를 비교$\cdot$검토하여 설명하였다.

  • This study was carried out to analyze the microstructure characteristics of electrolyte membrane through XRD, SEM and AC impedance measurement for using in high temperature steam electrolysis(HTE). It was investigated that thermal stability and electric characteristics by sintering condition using dry and wet process, and confirmed growth of particle and density change by sintering temperature. The sintering temperature and behavior had an effect on the relative density of the ceramic and the average grain size. The more amount of dispersant in organic compound increase, the more the density increased. But the binder was shown opposite phenomenon. It was analyzed that electrolyte resistance and electrical characteristics using AC impedance. The electrical properties of YSZ grain boundary changed with the sintering temperature.

  • Projection-based stereolithography is divided into constrained-surface and free-surface type according to controlling liquid layer. The constrained-surface type has a uniform layer thickness due to the use of a projection window, which covers the pattern generator such as liquid crystal display. However, the adhered resin on the projection window causes trouble and requires great separation force when the cured layer is separated from the window. To minimize the separation force, we developed a system to measure the separation force. The influence of material covering the pattern generator and the resin temperature is investigated in the system. Several structures according to the resin temperature and the velocity of z-axis elevation are compared. As a result, the fabrication condition to minimize the separation force reduces the process time.

  • The oil separation in an oil separator is one of the most important characteristics for proper compressor operation. In this study, a gravity type of oil separator is used. Oil separation characteristics has been investigated for $CO_2$/PAG mixture in the range of oil concentration 0 to 5 weight-percent and the mixture temperature range of $5^{\circ}C$ to $15^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$ to $90^{\circ}C$. The results obtained indicate that the oil separation is increased with an increase in the oil concentration. It is also found that the oil separation in liquid state is increased with an increase in the mixture temperature while the oil separation in gas state is decreased.

  • Lubricant oil is needed in air conditioning and refrigeration system because the compressor requires oil to prevent surface to surface contact between its moving parts, to remove heat, to provide sealing, to keep out contaminants, to prevent corrosion, and to dispose of debris created by wear. Thus, the oil separation in an oil separator is one of the most important characteristics for proper compressor operation. In this study, a gravity type of oil separator is used. Oil separation characteristics have been investigated for $CO_2$/PAG mixture in the range of oil concentration 0 to 5 weight-percent and the mixture temperature range of $0^{\circ}C$ to $15^{\circ}C$ at 50 bar and $70^{\circ}C$ to $90^{\circ}C$ at 80 bar. 볼텍스 튜브의 에너지 분리 현상에 관한 수치해석 연구 (Study of Energy Separation Mechanism in Vortex Tube by CFD)

  • The "energy separation phenomenon" through a vortex tube has been a long-standing mechanical engineering problem whose operational principle is not yet known. In order to find the operational principle of the vortex tube, CFD analysis of the flow field in the vortex tube has been carried out. It was found that the energy separation mechanism in the vortex tube consists of basically two major thermodynamic-fluid mechanical processes. One is the isentropic expansion process at the inlet nozzle, during which the gas temperature is nearly isentropically cooled. Second process is the viscous dissipation heating due to the high level of turbulence in both flow passages toward cold gas exit as well as the hot gas exit of the vortex tube. Since the amount of such a viscous heating is different between the two passages, the gas temperature at the cold exit is much lower than that at the hot exit.

  • Pyroprocessing uses various molten salts during electrochemical unit processes. Reaction products after the electrochemical processes must contain a significant amount of residual salts to be separated. Vacuum distillation is a common method to separate the residual salts; however, its high operation temperature may cause side reactions. In this study, a simple rotation technique using centrifugal force was suggested to separate the residual salts from the reaction products at relatively low temperature compared to the distillation technique. When a reaction product container with porous wall rotates inside a vessel heated above the melting point of the residual salt, the residual salt in the liquid phase is separated through centrifugal force. It was shown that the $LiNO_3-Al_2O_3$ mixture can be separated by this technique to leave solid $Al_2O_3$ inside the container, with a separation efficiency of 99.4%.

  • A capillary electrophoresis method for the separation of carvedilol and its metabolites enantiomers using cyclodextrins as the chiral selectors was developed. The effect of several types of cyclodextrins, concentration and capillary temperature for enantiomer resolution were investigated. Best results were obtained by 15 mM carboxymethyl-${\beta}$-cyclodextrin in the run buffer. Also the effect of capillary temperature on efficiency was assessed. The optimized method was applied for separation of chiral carvedilol and its three metabolites.

  • Temperature and pH conditions were studied for an effective biosurfactant production by Pseudomonas aeruginosa YPJ-80. Efficient methods of biosurfactant separation were also investigated. pH-uncontrolled experiments at 35$^{\circ}C$ and an initial pH of 8 resulted in the best cell growth (3.6 g/L) and biosurfactant production (0.073 g biosurfactant/g cell). Biosurfactant separation was most efficient using solvent extraction with chloroform/methanol (2:1 vol%) followed by acidification using 1N HCl.

  • Freezing of turbulent water flow between two horizontal cooled parallel plates with the separated region has been investigated experimentally. The flow separation was induced by vertical plates (two-dimensional plates) situated at the inlet of the rectangular channel. The degree of flow separation was varied by employing vertical thin plates with various heights. Three kinds of the vertical plates with 8.0, 9.8 and 12.5 mm in height were utilized. The Reynolds number and cooling temperature ratio were ranged from $3.45\times10^3 to 1.73\times10^4$ and 7.0 to 20.0 respectively, The measurements show that the flow separation influenced remarkably on the local ice formation characteristics. The location of the first ice layer and the average heat transfer at the ice surface were found be correlated as a function of the Reynolds number, the cooling temperature ratio, and the orifice height ratio.
