EXAFS study for the ordering of manganese in $La_{0.7}Ca_{0.3-x}Ba_xMnO_3$

  • Lanthanum manganites have been extensively studied for the application to magnetic devices since the colossal magnetoresistance of these compounds has been observed [1]. The critical temperatures, Tc, of manganites La/sub 0.7/Ca/sub 0.3-x/Ba/sub x/MnO₃ increased as the content of Ba increased except the abrupt jump near the critical concentration. The step like behavior of the critical temperature for a similar compound has been known to be related to the structural phase transition [2]. To understand the step like behavior of Tc, the EXAFS technique is applied to the La/sub 0.7/Ca/sub 0.3-x/Ba/sub x/MnO₃ compound system. The ordering between the manganese and oxygen was examined by this method. The EXAFS analysis shows that the coordination numbers were not changed before and after the phase transition, the bonding distance between manganese and oxygen is about 1.94 ± 0.02 Å, which is consistent with other work [3] and the Debye waller parameters were about σ²= 0.0037 ± 0.0005 Ų for x=0.0 and x=3.0, respectively. The value of Debye-Waller parameter for x=0.09 is about σ² = 0.0050 ± 0.0005 Ų in about phase transition concentration. Based on the Debye-Waller parameters, it is shown that the ordering between manganese and oxygen is significantly reduced near the phase transition concentration.

  • $^{13}C$ spin-lattice relaxation times were measured for n-alkanes of moderate chain length, ranging from n-octane to n-dodecane, under the condition of proton broad-band decoupling within the temperature range of 248-318 K in order to gain some insight into basic features of segmental motions occurring in long chain ploymeric molecules. The NOE data showed that except for methyl carbon-13 dipole-dipole interactions between $^{13}C$ and directly bonded $^1H$ provide the major relaxation pathway, and we have analyzed the observed $T_1data$ on the basis of the internal rotational diffusion theory by Wallach and the conformational jump theory by London and Avitabile. The results show that the internal rotational diffusion constants about C-C bonds in the alkane backbone are all within the range of $10^9\;-10^10\;sec^{-1}$ in magnitude while the mean lifetimes for rotational isomers are all of the order of $10^{-11}\;-10^{-10}$ sec. Analysis by the L-A theory predicts that activation energies for conformational interconversion between gauche and trans form gradually increase as we move from the chain end toward the central C-C bond and they are within the range of 2-4 kcal/mol for all the compounds investigated.

  • This investigation was carried out on the study of Ferrite formation by aerial oxidation of Fe $(OH)_2$ suspension of aqueous solution containing heavy metal ions. In this study the optimum reactionary condition of the Ferrite formation in Batch reactor wa studied by aerial oxidation which are subjected to various reaction time and temperature, under the different kinds of R(2NaOH/$FeSO_4$) Values, pH, Air flow rate, and $Fe^2+/M^2+$ mole ratio. The optimum condition for the Ferrite formation in Batch reactor was such that residence Time was 90 min., Temperature $65{\circ}$C, pH 11.0, Air flow rate 2.0l/min and $Fe^{2+}/M^{2+}$ mole ratio 4.0, which was observed by X-Ray diffraction analysis. The relation R-value, pH and ORP affecting the formation of Ferrite is that the jump step in pH 11.0, when a amount of NaOH is added, is steady state to the formation of Ferrite. Effect of R-value of $FeSO_4$ and $FeCl_2$ on the formation of Ferrite in different from each other the optimum condition of the in different from each other the optimum condition of the $FeCl_2$ is R-value 0.7, pH 11.0 and the $FeSO_4$ R-value 1.2, pH 11.0.

$Cu_{1-x}Ge_{1-y}Fe_{x+y}O_3$계의 자기적 및 Mossbauer 분광학적 연구 (Magnetic Properties and Mossbauer Studies of $Cu_{1-x}Ge_{1-y}Fe_{x+y}O_3$System)

  • Spin-Peierls(SP) 전이를 하는 CuGeO3에서 Cu 이온과 Ge 이온을 자성 이온인 Fe 이온으로 일부 치환시킨 Cu1-xGe1-yFex+yO3계를 제조하여 전이온도 전후에서 자기적 특성과 결정학적 특성의 변화를 밝히기 위하여 자기감수율과 Mossbauer 스펙트럼을 측정 분석하였다. 결정구조는 모든 시료가 직방정계(orthorhombic)였고 격자 상수는 Fe의 치환량이 증가할수록 a축과 c축만 약간 감소하였다. 온도를 내리면서 측정한 자기감수율의 값이 12.5K 근처에서 급격히 감소하는 SP 전이를 나타냈는데 이 온도는 Fe의 치환량이 많아질수록 약간씩 낮아졌다. Mossbauer 스펙트럼은 Fe3+ 이온에 의한 두 개의 Zeeman sextet와 한 개의 이중선이 중첩되어 나타났는데 특히 SP 전이 온도(Tsp)에서 Mossbauer변수들이 불연속이었다. 즉, Tsp이하에서 두 번째 Zeeman선의 자기장이 크게 증가했고 이중선의 사중극자 분열값(QS)과 이성질체 이동값(IS)도 증가했는데, 이를 Tsp에서 이중체 형성에 따른 이온들의 위치 이동 계산 결과와 비교하여 초교한 상호작용, 대칭성 및 공유 결합성 등의 변화와 관련시켜 해석하였다.

$BaTiO_{3}$ PTC 서미스터 입계의 전기적인 특성 (The Electrical Characteristics of the Grain Boundary in a $BaTiO_{3}$ PTC Thermistor)

  • $BaTiO_{3}$ PTC 서미스터를 제조하여 그 전기적 특성을 조사하였다. PTC 서미스터의 저항률은 $20^{\circ}C$에서 $200^{\circ}C$까지 $20^{\circ}C$ 간격으로 측정되었다. 이 시편의 ac 복소 임피던스 분석을 통하여 PTC 서미스터의 입계저항, 입계정전용량, bulk 저항 등을 조사하였다. 전자현미경을 사용하여 grain을 확인하고 평균 입경을 구하였으며 측정된 평균 입경은 $3.8{\mu}m$에서 $8.8{\mu}m$까지 되었다. 평균 입경은 소결온도가 높을수록 커지는 경향을 보였으며 최대저항률 증가비는 $4{\times}10^{5}$ 정도였다. Bulk 저항률은 소결온도가 $1340^{\circ}C$ 이상일 경우는 측정온도가 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 측정온도가 증가할수록 입계저항은 n의 지수함수적으로 증가하였으며, 입계정전용량은 감소하고, 입계의 전위 장벽은 증가하였다. 입계전하밀도는 측정온도가 올라갈수록 증가하였으나, 측정온도가 약 $110^{\circ}C$ 이상일 경우 더 이상 증가하지 않았다.

  • $(1-x)BaTiO_3-x(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})TiO_3$ ($0.01{\leq}x{\leq}0.10$) ceramics were fabricated with muffled sintering by a modified synthesis process. Their positive temperature coefficient of resistivity (PTCR) characteristics were investigated systematically. All specimen showed a perovskite structure with a tetragonal symmetry. Both the lattice parameter of a and c axes were slightly decreased with increasing $(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})TiO_3$ (BNT) content. Grain growth was achieved when the incorporated BNT was increased to 6 mol% and the inhibition of grain growth is considered to be due to the appearance of Ba vacancy ($V^{"}_{Ba}$) in the $(1-x)BaTiO_3-x(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})TiO_3$ ($0.08{\leq}x$). With 4 mol% BNT addition, room temperature resistivity decreased to $48 \Omega{\cdot}cm$ and a resistivity jump ($\rho_{max}/\rho_{min}$) was as high as $1.1{\times}10^4$, respectively. Curie temperature was also increased to $171^{\circ}C$ with increasing BNT content.

  • The influences of Na and K content on the crystal phase, the microstructure and the electrical property of $BaTiO_3$-based thermistors was found to show typical PTC effects. The crystal phase of powder calcined at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 4hrs showed a single phase with $BaTiO_3$, and the crystal structure was transformed from tetragonal to cubic phase according to added amounts of Na and K. In XRD results at $43^{\circ}\sim47^{\circ}$, the $(Ba_{0.858}Na_{0.071}K_{0.071})(Ti_{0.9985}Nb_{0.0015})O_{3-\delta}$ showed (002) and (200) peaks but the $(Ba_{0.762}Na_{0.119}K_{0.119})(Ti_{0.9975}Nb_{0.0025})O_{3-\delta}$ showed (002), (020) and (200) peaks. In sintered bodies, those calcined at $600^{\circ}C$ rather than at $1000^{\circ}C$ were dense, and for certain amounts of Na and K showed rapid decreases in grain size. In relative permittivity, the curie temperature due to the transformation of ferroelectric phase rose with added Na and K but decreased in terms of relative permittivity. In the result of the R-T curve, the sintered bodies have curie temperatures of about $140^{\circ}C$ and the resistivity of sintered bodies have scores of $\Omega{\cdot}cm$; the jump order of sintered bodies was shown to be more than $10^4$ in powder calcined at $1000^{\circ}C$.

인삼(人蔘)과 향부자(香附子)의 항우울효과(抗憂鬱效果)에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Antidepressant Effect of Ginseng Radix Alba and Cyperi Rhizoma)

  • Ginseng Radix Alba and Cyperi Rhizoma were investigated for their anti-depressant effects. For this purpose, forced-swimming test, tail suspension test, hot plate test, reserpine-induced hypothermia, aggressive behavior test were performed. In addition, the brain content of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid(a metabolite of serotonin), the monoamine oxidase activity, anticonvulsant effect, sleep enhancement effect were determined. The results are as follows: In the forced swimming test, Ginseng Radix diminished the duration of immobility by 45.5% compared to the control group, while Cyperi Rhizoma showed weaker effect (12.4% reduction) at 2g/kg. In the tail suspension test, the effect of Ginseng Radix(43.7% reduction) are also better than that of Cyperi Rhizoma(15.6% reduction) at 2g/kg. In the hot plate test, Ginseng Radix showed no difference as compared to control, while Cyperi Rhizoma increased the jump latency time by about 25% after administration for 10 days. In the reserpine-induced hypothermia test, both drugs slowly dropped the body temperature compared to the control group, especially the rate of hypothermia of Ginseng Radix was 24.0% at 1g/kg. In the aggressive behavior test, both drugs delayed the onset time, decreased the duration and frequency, of which effects were better in Cyperi Rhizoma. The content of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid in mice brain was slightly increased in Ginseng Radix, while Cyperi Rhizoma increased its level almost to the control group. Both drugs inhibited the monoamine oxidase activity in a dose-dependent manner, but the effect(51.2%) of Cyperi Rhizoma was more potent than the effect(11.8%) of Ginseng Radix. In the pentobarbital-induced sleep test, Cyperi Rhizoma exhibited no significant difference against the control group, while Ginseng Radix showed about two-fold enhancement at 2g/kg. The anticonvulsant effect of both drugs delayed the onset time, shortened the duration of convulsion and diminished the lethality, but Ginseng Radix were better than Cyperi Rhizoma.

지반의 동결조건을 고려한 열전도 구성방정식과 유한요소해석 (Heat Transfer Equation and Finite Element Analysis Considering Frozen Ground Condition the Cyclic Loading)

  • 동절기 온도가 영하로 떨어짐에 따라서 지표면 부근의 수분을 포함한 흙은 공극속의 수분이 얼음으로 변하면서 부피가 팽창하고, 이렇게 팽창된 지반은 주변 구조물에 영향을 미쳐 지반 구조물의 안전에 위험한 영향을 초래할 수 있다. 동상현상은 토립자, 간극수, 공기로 구성된 다상(multi phase) 구조 속에서 동결이 형성됨에 따른 수분의 이동과 수분이 얼음으로의 상변화(phase change) 등 다변수의 복합적인 물리적 현상을 포함하고 있기 때문에 현재까지 다차원 수치해석에 구성방정식으로 사용할 수 있는 검증되고 신뢰성 있는 모델은 아직도 연구 단계에 있다. 본 논문에서는 간극수의 상변화에 따라 갑작스러운 열용량 증대로 발생하는 수치해석상의 문제를 극복할 수 있는 효율적인 간편식을 유도하고, 포화된 토사나 다공성 암반이 동결할 때의 거동을 재현할 수 있는 열전도 구성방정식과 해석법을 제안하였다. 제안된 식을 사용한 수치해석 결과는 알려진 이론해 및 실내 모형시험 결과와 잘 일치하였다.

Micro shock tube 유동에 대한 유한 격막 파막과정의 영향에 관한 수치 해석적 연구 (Numerical Simulation of the Effect of Finite Diaphragm Rupture Process on Micro Shock Tube Flows)

  • 최근, micro shock tube는 Micro combustion, Micro propulsion, Particle delivery systems 등과 같은 다양한 공학응용분야에서 사용 되고 있다. Micro shock tube 에서 일어나는 유동 특성은 아주 작은 레이놀즈수 와 높은 누센수의 영향으로 인해 잘 알려진 기존의 macro shock tube 유동 특성과 상당한 차이가 나타난다. 또한 기존의 많은 shock tube의 순간적 과정으로 간주되는 격막파막 과정은 micro shock tube의 격막 근처의 유동장과 충격파 형성을 결정하는 중요한 요인이 될 것이다. 본 논문에서는 micro shock tube를 모사하기 위해 축 대칭, Maxwell's 슬립속도 조건과 온도 변화 경계 조건을 적용하여 수치 해석을 수행 하였다. 또한 유동장과 충격파 형성에 대한 유한 파막 과정의 영향을 자세히 조사 하였고, 결과로부터 충격파 강도는 micro shock tube를 통해 전파됨에 따라 급격히 감소하였다.
