R600a를 이용한 소형 멀티형 냉장고 시스템의 성능특성에 대한 실험적 연구 (Performance characteristics of a multi type refrigerator)

  • Various types of refrigerators become popular in the market such as a common refrigerator, kimchi refrigerator and wine cellar. It is required to develop a multi function refrigerator which has different purposes in each evaporator. In this study, the performance of a multi type refrigerator system, which consists of one machine room and three evaporators, was measured in a bench type multi refrigerator. The multi type refrigerator system was tested by varying the number of refrigerator cabinet, refrigerant charge amount, temperature condition. Based on experimental data, the multi type refrigerator showed better performance than the conventional refrigerator(single type) At the same external load condition, the COP of the multi type refrigerator was $1.22{\sim}1.29$, but the COP of the single type refrigerator was 1.0.

  • Because of the ozone layer depletion and global warming, new alternative refrigerants are being developed. In this study, evaporation heat transfer characteristics of carbon dioxide flowing upward in a vertical micro-fin tube have been investigated by experiment. Before a test section, a pre-heater is installed to adjust the inlet quality of the refrigerant to a desired value. The micro-fin tube with outer diameter of 5 mm and length of 1.44 m was selected as the test section. The test was conducted at mass fluxes of 318 to $530\;kg/m^2s$, saturation temperature of -5 to $5^{\circ}C$, and heat fluxes of 15 to $30\;kW/m^2$. As the vapor quality increases, the heat transfer coefficients of carbon dioxide are increased, and the heat transfer coefficients increase when the heat fluxes and saturation temperatures increase, and there was not much of influence of mass flux on the heat transfer coefficients.

  • This paper is dedicated to the development of cooling devices such as mLHP with Fan-Fin system limited by noise and vibration. As we know, Heat pipe has the limitation of cooling capability to cool down the electronics. It is bounded by capillary and thermal limitation but heat load that it has to deal with is increasing. Especially Today's electronic technology has a tendency to integrate lots of function into the small piece of a processor like Dual core having 35W heat load for mobile and desktop computer respectively. There is an optimum operating condition of temperature, below $70^{\circ}C$, during the maximum heat load, 35W. There is the motivation needed to develop the new type of cooling devices and we can discuss about the new challenge beyond heat pipe.

  • The liquid cooling effect of a natural convection type radiator by using the PCM has been investigated experimentally. The radiator size is $423{\times}295{\times}83$ mm and PCM container size is $398{\times}270{\times}26$ mm. The objective is elapsed time higher than maximum time to reach for maximum operating temperature of a general liquid cooling radiator. This study, in order to study on the effects of the phase-change phenomenon, carried out the various mass flow rate, input electric power, ambient and melting point of three type PCM. For the above experimental parameter, the melting time was performed about 180/250/560 min at input power 150 W and ambient $30^{\circ}C$ from using the three type PCM(PCM_S1/S2/S3) respectively. Furthermore, the effects of the thermal dissipation was decreased higher input power than lower input power at heating block and melting time of PCM. However, the effects of mass flow rate did not nearly affect of the thermal performance especially.

  • This present study is to evaluate the cooling performance of a water-to-refrigerant ground source heat pump system(GSHP) under actually operating condition. 1 unit is selected among 10 units of the GSHP in the building to analyze the performance. The average cooling COP of the GSHP at the part load of 64% is 8.2, overall system COP is 6.19. In the GSHP system, the cooling temperature of the condenser is lower compared to the air source heat pump system. Conclusively, the cooling performance of the GSHP is higher than the air source heat pump system by 80%.

  • Greenhouses should be heated during nights and cold days in order to fit growth conditions in greenhouses. Ground source heat pump(GSHP) or geothermal heat pump system(GHPs) is recognized to be outstanding heating and cooling system. Horizontal GSHP system is typically less expensive than vertical GSHP system but requires wide ground area to bury ground heat exchanger(GHE). In this study, a horizontal GSHP system with thermal storage tank was installed in greenhouse and investigated as performance characteristics. In the daytime, heating load of greenhouse is very small or needless because solar radiation increases inner air temperature. The results of study showed that the heating coefficient of performance of the heat pump ($COP_h$) was 2.9 and the overall heating coefficient of performance of the system($COP_{sys}$) was 2.4. Heating energy cost was saved 76% using the horizontal GSHP system with thermal storage tank.

  • In the present study, the cooling and heating operation characteristics of a multi-heat pump have been experimentally investigated for the number of the indoor units(A, B, C) and the operating conditions. The heat pump was controlled by an inverter scroll compressor. The performance of the heat pump was measured by the multi-calorimeter of an air enthalpy method. Cooling and heating capacities and COPs were obtained at the cooling and heating temperature conditions and the setting temperatures of an indoor unit. With increasing the operation frequency of the compressor, the cooling and heating capacities of the heat pump increased linearly. The operation frequency region of the compressor was different as the combination of the indoor unit and the cooling/ heating condition.

  • The experimental implementation for different heating systems, district heating and separate heating and power, is discussed in the analysis of the characteristics of energy-usage in apartment complex. Total 20 families are chosen for the experiment, 10 for the district heating and the others for separate heating and power. Among the 10 families, the operating temperature was forced to be controled within certain range of temperatures for 5 ones, and it was left as usual for the other ones. The configuration and general features of each facilities and data acquisition systems are mentioned in brief and the technical specifications for it are also described. The analysis for the experiment results of this investigation is going to be carried out and published in a subsequent paper.

  • This paper presents the measuring technique for local heat transfer coefficients using a copper sensor in a rod bundle with mixing vanes. A copper sensor consists of a cartridge heater and four pieces of thermocouple. The Heater is located at the center of the copper sensor and thermocouples measure the surface temperature of the copper sensor. Unheated copper sensor and heated copper sensor are able to measure the local heat transfer coefficient at the position where the heated copper sensor is installed. However the entire region of a rod bundle is actually not heated, the decay of local heat transfer coefficients measured represents overestimated value rather than an actual value. The calibration curve for local heat transfer coefficients is presented using the correction factor calculated by CFD.

  • Effective use of available energy sources is of general concern along with the issues of global warming and unstable oil price. As one of the effort to recover waste heat from industrial facilities effectively, researchers have interest in a technology called organic Rankine cycle(ORC), in which the working fluid is some organic liquid instead of water. Known to have poor efficiency already, this old technology is considered to give an innovative solution to utilizing low grade energy sources, by improving the efficiency. Nano fluidics, coatings and the use of additives are the examples of these efforts. In the present study, we present simulated performance of a horizontal tube type condenser geometry. N-hexanr and isopentane are compared to water vapor case under 1 atm and the inet cooling water temperature of $20^{\circ}C$. EES(Engineering Equations Solver) is used for the present work.
