A Study on the Conflict Between the Call for Journalists' Phone Records and the Shield Law: Focusing on the Review of Paragraph 2, Article 13 of the Act of Protection of the Secrecy of Correspondence (기자의 통화내역 조회와 취재원 보호 간의 갈등: 통신비밀보호법 제13조 제2항 논의를 중심으로)

  • Korean citizens enjoy not only the freedom of communication but also the secrecy of electronic communication. Article 18 of the Constitution of the Republic of Korea prescribes that the secrecy of correspondence should not be infringed. Namely, all citizens enjoy guaranteed privacy of correspondence. But many people have been experiencing the infringement of those rights. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate whether Paragraph 2, Article 13 of the Act on Protection of the Secrecy of Correspondence infringes on the constitutional rights of privacy of electronic communication. The results of this study indicate that the law violates the Constitution. Paragraph 3, Article 12 (Personal Liberty, Personal Integrity) of the constitution stipulates that "Warrants issued by a judge through due process (upon the request of a prosecutor) have to be presented in case of arrest, detention, seizure, or search." However, prosecutors, the police, and National Intelligence Service have made numerous inquiries calling for the journalists' telephone records without warrants issued by a judge. So, this study suggests that the paragraph should be amended to be compatible with the Constitution. Meanwhile, journalists should make a more concerted effort to protect their news sources in exercising constitutionally protected freedom of the press.

  • We can foresee the rapidly growing of users by development of VoIP service what can transmit a audio traffic with low cost among a lots application using internet. VoIP needs a standardized protocol that is able to do signaling for offering high quality of services such as mobility, universal number, multiparty conference, voice mail, automatic call distribution. At the present time, a base composition elements of SIP(Session Intiation Protocol) are developing for offering VoIP based SIP in the inside and outside of the country, because SIP of IETF which has a strength from 'fast connection', 'parsing' & 'easy to compile' points of view. This paper suggests a type of Hybrid SIP Server for providing some services as 'a reducing load of SIP server that process a request method from users', 'efficiency of managing networks', 'offering services to many users'.

  • Many people is preferred to mVoIP which offers call telephone-quality and convenient UI as well as free of charge. On the other hand, security of mVoIP is becoming an issue as it using Internet network may have danger about wiretapping. Although traditionally encryption algorithm of symmetric key for security of voice data has been used, ECC algorithm of public key type has been preferring for encryption because it is stronger in part the strength of encryption than others. However, the existing way is restricted by lots of operations in poor mobile environment. Thus this paper proposes the efficiency of resource consumption way by reducing cryptographic operations.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the customer demand for design development of digital convergence furniture in the living space of the ubiquitous home. This study used the individual survey method and was collected from July 1 to 20, 2008. The frequency and percentage were used for data analysis by SPSS window's 12. The results of the study were as follows: The first, a lot of survey targets were 30-40 years old, university graduates, over 50,000,000 won in annual income and 30-40 pyung in house size. The second, what types of activity were carried out in the living room were acquisition of knowledge>entertainment activity>communication activity>household chores. The third, what types of furniture were used in the living room were A/V furniture>table>sofa>computer table>bookself. The forth, customers preferred to picture telephone service in sociality, home-theater service in entertainment and home appliances remote control service in information service. The fifth, the digital functions which can integrate with the living roon furniture, in the item for A/V furniture, was front door control function which recognizes visitors with the screen. In the item for table was function to search internet and for sofa was self purification function. Finally, the digital convergence furniture is not only for one activity but also for various types of activities that can comprehensively function to materialize the concept of comfortable furniture in the living space.

  • The purpose of this study is to survey the status of oral care of adult patients with disabilities and satisfaction degree of outpatient general anesthesia for dental treatment. 30 adult patients who underwent general anesthesia for dental treatment at clinic for the disabled in Seoul National University Dental Hospital enrolled for telephone survey. Many patients (83.3%) had mental problems to do social communication. And someone of family members (mainly mother) had cared for the patient but there was only one patient who got regular oral care. The satisfaction level of outpatient general anesthesia and nursing care for dental treatment was very high(100%).

  • Spasmodic dysphonia is a chronic, focal, movement-induced, action-specific dystonia of the laryngeal musculature during speech. It can have a profound effect on quality of life, severely limiting people's communication, especially via telephone and in noisy backgrounds. Spasmodic dysphonia (SD) is usually of the adductor type characterized by glottic contractions causing tightness and voice breaks with forced-strangled voice, but it may also be abductor type or, much less commonly, mixed. Treatment options for adductor spasmodic dysphonia (ADSD) include voice therapy, surgical procedures, and botulinum toxin injections (Botox). The use of Botox injected into the laryngeal muscles remains the "gold standard" treatment for reducing the vocal symptoms of ADSD and Botox induces a temporary paresis of the laryngeal muscles and provides short-term relief of symptoms. Repeated injections of the laryngeal muscles, generally every 3-4 months, are required for continuous relief of symptoms. Improvement in vocal function has been reported after use of Botox injections, though a completely normal voice is rarely achieved. In this hospital, 1,030 patients have been enrolled for Botox injection therapy so far (May, 2012). In this review article, I'd like to present my personal experience of management of spasmodic dysphonia mainly by Botox injection.

Optimal Wave Source Position Determination Based on Wave Propagation Simulation (전자파 영향 평가를 통한 최적의 전파 기지국 위치 결정 방법)

  • In this paper, we proposed a method to determine optimal wave source for mobile telephone communication. The approach is based on wave propagation simulation. Given a wave source we can determine wave propagation effects on every surfaces of wave simulation environment. The effect is evaluated as a cost function while the source’s position x, y, z work as variables for a parameter optimization. Wave propagated 3 dimensional space generates reflected waves whenever it hits boundary surface, it receives multiple waves which are reflected from various boundary surfacers in space. Three algorithms being implemented in this paper are based on a raytracing theory. If we get 3 dimensional geometry input as well as wave sources, we can compute wave propagation effects all over the boundary surfaces. In this paper, we present a new approach to compute wave propagation. First approach is tracing wave from a source. Source is modeled as a sphere casting vectors into various directions. This approach has limit in computing necessary wave propagation effects on all terrain surfaces. The second approach proposed is tracing wave backwards : tracing from a wave receiver to a wave source. For this approach we need to allocate a wave receiver on every terrain surfaces modeled, which requires enormous amount of computing time. But the second approach is useful for indoor wave propagation simulation. The last approach proposed in this paper is tracing sound by geometric computation. We allow direct, 1-relfe tion, and 2-reflection propagation. This approach allow us to save in computation time while achieving reasonable results. but due to the reflection limitaion, this approach works best in outdoor environment.

  • In the traditional telephone services, the settlement method for usage of facilities has been systematically and reasonably arranged based on the cost. Through the advanced technology, the telecommunication services such as the convergence of voice-data, wire-wireless, communication-broadcasting, etc are offering. So, new settlement method in the broadband convergence network (BCN) should be necessary. This paper suggests inter-companies settlement method in the broadband network using interconnection bandwidth and transmission distance factor. By reflecting the facility cost weight on each BCN level, the cost settlement for various services can be easily done. As the settlement model for BCN, the inter-companies interconnection and settlement can be normalized by interconnection bandwidth and transmission distance factors.

  • Lawful interception (LI) involves legally accessing private communication such as telephone calls or email messages. Numerous countries have been drafting and enacting laws concerning the LI procedures. With the proliferation of portable Internet services such as the IEEE 802.16e wireless mobile networks, surveillance over illegal users is an emerging technical issue in LI. The evermigrating users and their changing IP's make it harder to provide support for seamless LI procedures on 802.16e networks. Few studies, however, on seamless LI support have been conducted on the 802.16e mobile networks environments. Proposed in this paper are a seamless LI architecture and algorithms for the 802.16e networks. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed architecture improves recall rates in intercepting mobile user, when compared to the existing LI architectures.

  • Recently, the use of Smartphones has been widespread and changed our lives positively. Smartphones which are called as PC in the hand and spread general people rapidly are becoming a medium to use generally various functions such as internet, work, multimedia, etc. beyond the simple function of telephone communication in the past. However, the excessive use of Smartphones has also produced many side effects. The purpose of this study is to examine the Smartphone Addiction on Daily Life Impact. This model tests various theoretical research hypotheses relating to Self-Esteem, Enjoyment, Flow, Social Impact, Smartphone Addiction and Daily life impact. The proposed model is analyzed to target 299 University Students and Smart Partial Least Square(PLS) 2.0 have been utilized for deriving the study results. The Result of Hypothesis testing are as follows. First, Self-Esteem negatively influence Smartphone Addiction. Second, Enjoyment, Flow and Social Impact positively influence Smartphone Addiction. Third, Smartphone Addiction positively influence Daily Life impact. This Research makes a basic research for smart phone addiction papers that will be investigated a lot in the future.
