The aim of this study was to examine the effect of telephone follow-up on glycemic control, lipid profiles. and treatment method in diabetic patients with depressive symptoms over one year follow-up period. Twenty-two diabetic patients attended the structured diabetes education program between March 2004 and February 2005 and completed a questionnaire using the Beck Depression Inventory(BDI) to measure depressive symptoms. The patients showed depressive symptoms with the criterion being a BDI score at least 16. The intervention was applied to the telephone follow-up for one year. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon signed rank test and McNemar test. The patients decreased their mean glycosylated hemoglobin(HbAlc) levels by 1.9%(p=0.001). There was a significant mean change in the fasting blood sugar(FBS) level, with a mean change of -61mg/$d{\ell}$(p=0.008). These findings indicated that the telephone follow-up may be effective in the HbAlc and FBS control.

인터넷 전화는 VoIP를 이용하는 전화 방식으로서 VoIP 단말이 인터넷에 연결되어 있다면 저렴한 요금과 다양한 부가서비스가 가능한 방식이다. 하지만 인터넷 전화를 관리하기 위한 시스템들은 대규모의 VoIP 서비스 사업자들이나 대기업에서의 사용을 목적으로 하여 개발되어 오면서 설치 및 관리의 편의성 부분이 결여되어 있으며, 이러한 문제점들은 VoIP 단말 설치를 어렵게 하여 인터넷 전화 보급에 장애가 되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하고자 VoIP 단말들의 설정 관리를 목적으로 하는 자동 프로비저닝 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 이 시스템은 SOHO 환경과 같이 소규모 VoIP 환경에서 VoIP 단말들을 쉽게 설치하고 관리할 수 있도록 지원한다.

The impaired person and the elderly who has hearing loss have been continuously increased and these people's desire for participating society as a producer has been increased also. So they strongly request the aid device which can compensate their handicap. The healing aid telephone is one of the basic aid devices that helps the hearing impaired to communicate with other people and to acquire useful information. We design the new model of the hearing aid telephone and test it's efficiency in three fields - electrical, speech perception, user test. From the result of the test we certify that the new model is better for the hearing impaired to understand the meaning of telephone speech than the old general models. We expect that the advanced healing aid telephone can be developed by the research about speech perception characteristics of the hearing impaired in engineering and clinical side.

This paper presents a valuation methodology for optional calling plan contracts on free-phone calls in the telephone industry. Utilization of the model is not limited to valuation and consequent decision making for the subscribers; it provides a useful guideline for telephone companies in designing calling plans and assessing subscribers' behavior.

This paper studios billing mechanisms of value-added telephone services In Korea and major foreign countries. The billing methods of toll-free phone service, voice Information service, one number service, personal number service and calling card service ate compared with each other. The results show that several differences are identified among service providers due to the difference of the regulation, numbering mechanism and underlying networks employed. This paper also provides implications and suggestions to incumbent Korean value-added service providers and regulators

Considering the globalization and the development of regional culture, culture and design become more and more closely connected. With the popularity of mobile phone, it has been in close contact with our lives. Mobile phone is changing our way of life, it also has become a culture, and is reflected in a period in different countries and different ethnic's cultural traditions and lifestyle. This paper has studied a remote AMR(Automatic Meter Reading) system using the power line and the telephone line as a communication media and the digital power meter. In the developed system, because we have used the power line and telephone, the facility is very easy and then its cost is not expensive. The system includes following elements: a digital power meter, an indoor communication system using a power line modem and a telephone line interface system for sending data to the utility company.

It is the aim of the placement studies of telephone exchanges to provide facility plans which give the most economic investiment time and size to satisfy the future telephone demand of the area. Main subjects of the stuies are usually the optimal number, locations, service areas, final capacity of the telephone exchanges. This paper explains about the basic methodologies and algorithms expressed in PLAX, a software developed by KETRI to tackle the placement problem in urban areas.

As a preliminary study for improving recognition performance of the connected digit telephone speech, we investigate feature parameters as well as channel compensation methods of telephone speech. The CMN and RTCN are examined for telephone channel compensation, and the MFCC, DWFBA, SSC and their delta-features are examined as feature parameters. Recognition experiments with database we collected show that in feature level DWFBA is better than MFCC and for channel compensation RTCN is better than CMN. The DWFBA+Delta_ Mel-SSC feature shows the highest recognition rate.

One of the most important problems in speech recognition is to detect the presence of speech in adverse environments. In other words, the accurate detection of speech boundary is critical to the performance of speech recognition. Furthermore the speech detection problem becomes severer when recognition systems are used over the telephone network, especially wireless network and noisy environment. Therefore this paper describes various speech detection algorithms for continuous digit recognition system used over wire/wireless telephone networks and we propose a algorithm in order to improve the robustness of speech detection using useful band selection under noisy telephone networks. In this paper, we compare some speech detection algorithms with the proposed one, and present experimental results done with various SNRs. The results show that the new algorithm outperforms the other speech detection methods.
