  • In recent years, one of the main trends of GIS is to construct and provide realistic and human-perceptible information of spatial object using video data. The rapid progress of wireless mobile technology makes the multimedia source using video data possible on mobile environment. Instead of traditional map-based service, video-based location services, that provide video data as location context, would be of interest in connection with various mobile applications requiring location service, such as telematics, LBS, etc. In this paper, we present the location service system using geo-referenced video on wireless mobile environment.

  • In this paper, CCF(Call Control Function), functional entity for basic call processing in SSP(Service Switching Point), is designed and implemented. This functional entity can provide the IN(Intelligent Network) services which are included in CCITT CS-1(Capability Set-1), near-term process for IN Architecture. UIO(Unique Input Output) method, one of the thest sequence generation methods for the finite state machine, is used for the implementation test of this functional entity.

  • A Telepresence service is an advanced video conferencing service at aimed providing remote users with the feeling of being present together at a particular location for a face-to-face group meeting. The effectiveness in this type of meeting can be further increased by automatically recognizing the audiovisual behaviors of the video conferencing users, accurately inferring their level of engagement from the recognized reactions, and providing proper feedback on their engagement state. In this paper, we review the recent developments of such engagement analysis techniques being utilized in various applications, such as human-robot interaction, content evaluation, telematics, and online collaboration services. In addition, we introduce a real-time engagement analysis framework employed in our telepresence service platform for an increased participation in online group collaboration settings.

  • The signaling protocol for B-ISDN should support variety of services including point-to-pont single-connection call, point-to-point multi-connection call and point-to-multipoint connection call. an efficient signaling protocol for point-to-point multi-connection call based on ITU-T Recommendation Q.298X is presented in this paper. Sequential establishment of madatory and optional connections and common routing scheme for synchronization, along with separation of information elements for establishement of multi-connection call are included in the proposed signaling protocol. Limited network resources can be used more efficiently by proposed sequential establishement of mandartory and optional connection for point-to-point multi-connection call which can provide multimedia services. And common routing can be provided effectively by proposed common routing scheme for connectios requiring synchronization like as video-phone and video-conference.

  • Using Asynchronous Transfer Mode(ATM) which is a high-bandwidth, low-delay, cell switching and multiplexing technology, Broadband-Integrated Services Digital Network (B-ISDN) can support communication services of all kinds. To evaluate the performance of ATM networks, traffic source models to meet the requirements are demanded. We can obtain random traffic distribution for ATM networks by using the Cellular Automata (CA) which have effective random pattern generation capability. In this paper we propose an algorithm using 2-D LHCA to generate more effective random patterns with good random characteristics. And we show that the randomness by 2-D LHCA is better than that of the randomness by 1-D LHCA.

  • Recently, the services using position information of moving objects is embossed. Theses services needs the moving objects databases to manage moving object data with efficiency. To build the moving object databases, we must develop the moving object engine to mange, store, and search the spatio temporal data of moving object. The moving object engine has to support query syntax to search data that suitable for user need like LBS, Telematics, ITS, vehicle management system. In this paper, we design and implement the moving object engine to support service with moving object data. The moving object engine is able to support system environment that users are able to get the moving object data easily even they don't know complex data structure.

  • In this paper we wanted to implement a reliable ISDN PABX that could maintain the user's voice and data communication services, even when there might be an unexpected system error. In order to implement the fault-tolerance we made this ISDN PABX composed of an active and a standby side by duplicating the main control parts. Whenever a critical error occurs in the active side, it makes side exchange so that the standby side as anew active side continues to proceed the currently active voice or data services. Finally, through the performance evaluation we proved that user's voice or data communication can be serviced without any sense in spite of an system error.

  • In providing with low speed multimedia services, a call blocking rate is greatly varied according to the transmission rate, and thereofr, the call blocking rate is remarkably increased for a service having a high transmission rate compared to a service having a low transmission rate. This paper presents three methods of solving this problem; Packing Scheme in which available channels distributed to each frequency channel are concentrated on one frequency channel and a call having a high transmission rate is assigned to the frequency channel; Queuing Scheme in which queuing is assigned to calls under service is temporarily reduced and a call having a high transmission rate is allowed. The result of performance analysis for 13 Kbps and 128 Kbps service through computer simulation showed that the call blocking rate for 128 Kbpx service was reduced by tens of percent accoring to loads.

  • In ubiquitous computing environment, OSGi has applied to many areas such as digital mobile phones, vehicles, telematics, embedded appliances, residential gateways, industrial computers, desktop PCs, and high-end servers including mainframes. Therefore, interoperability is required for remote OSGi services which are built on various devices. In this paper, we proposed a method which was able to interoperate remote OSGi services using RMI paradigm. RMI is a representative middleware technology in distributed computing environment. The suggested method is based on the standard OSGi technology. It is possible to provide remote OSGi service registration, finding, and binding methods which were suitable for the OSGi service-oriented architecture. We also provided reliability of the dynamic remote OSGi services by maintaining consistent properties of them, and we could provide location transparency of the remote OSGi services by generating proxy bundles and proxy services dynamically.

  • One of the most popular services of Telematics is a shortest path finding from a starting point to a destination. In this paper, a dynamic shortest path finding system with forecasting result of traffic flow in the future was developed and various experiments to verify the performance of our system using real-time traffic information has been conducted. Traffic forecasting has been done by a prediction system using Bayesian network. It searched a dynamic shortest path, a static shortest path and an accumulated shortest path for the same starting point and destination and calculated their travel time to compare with one of its real shortest path. From the experiment, over 75%, the travel time of dynamic shortest paths is the closest to one of their real shortest paths than one of static shortest paths and accumulated shortest paths. Therefore, it is proved that finding a dynamic shortest path by applying traffic flows in the future for intermediated intersections can give more accurate traffic information and improve the quality of services of Telematics than finding a static shortest path applying by traffic flows of the starting time for intermediated intersections.
