A Study on the Synchronous Signal Detection and Error Correction in Radio Data System (RDS 수신 시스템에서 동기식 신호복원과 에러정정에 관한 연구)

  • Radio data system is a next-generation broadcasting system of digital information communication which multiplexes the digital data into the FM stereo signal in VHF/FM band and provides important and convenient service features. And radio data are composed of groups which are divided into 4 blocks with information word and check word. In this paper, radio data receiver is developed which recovers and process radio data to provide services. Then we confirm that 7dB SNR is required to be 10S0-5TBER of demodulation. Deconding process of shortened-cyclic-decoder has been simulated by computer. Also, the time-compression (by 16 times) method has been adopted for the RDS features post-processing. Via the error probability calculation, simulation and experimentation, the developed receiver system is proved to satisfy the system specification of EBU and implemented by general logic gates and analog circuits.

  • This paper presents performance evaluation of a new high speed inter-processor communication(HIPC) network for large capacity and high performance digitral switching system. The HIPC structure implements the fast reservation and concurrent arbitration technique (modified round-robin arbitration). The performance evaluation of HIPC was performed by not only computer simulation but also numerical approximation method which was derived for a single server multi-queue system with nonexhaustive cyclic service. The approximation results are almost same with that of computer simulation. The TDX-10 basic callscenario was applied to the HIPC netowrk and analyzed. these results were compared with TDX-10 IPC and shows that the difference of th emean waiting time in the TX buffer of NTP node increases sharply according to the increase of the message arrival rate.

  • Personal Communication Networks will be composed of ATM-based broadband ISDN in the future. However, unlike the wired networks, many challenges will arise in the wireless communication service such as PCS. These callenges are frequency alteration of cell routing path, relatively very high error rate at transmission over the wireless interface, etc. Particularly, the alteration of cell routing path caused by handoff makes temporary deterioration of QoS. In this paper, the signaling flows of handoff scenarios which may occur on Personal Communication Networks are presented, and verified by Pertri-Net toolkit. In addition, the cell flow control scheme which minimizes the lagging gap between cells and maintains the cell sequence during handoff is proposed. The proposed scheme can be summarized as the differentiation of normal queue and handoff queue, and the cell flow control between these queues. For verification of the proposed scheme, we used two approaches, which are mathermatical manipulation and SLAM simulation.

Multiplexing scheme for forward signaling channels in wireless cellular networks (이동통신망의 전향 신호 채널을 위한 다중화 방식)

  • We consider connection-oriented wireless cellular networks such as the second generation wireless cellular networks and wirelss ATM networks. In these networks, a separate forward signaling channel is provided for the transmission of paging and channel allocation packets. When a call destined to a user is requested, all the base stations in the user's current location area broadcast the corresponding paging packet across forward signaling channels. By slot mode operation and paging group allocation for fusers in a location area, we can reduce relative power consumption level at battery-operated terminals. However, a sthe number of paging groups is increased for lowering relative power consumption level, a paging packet experiences higher delay to access the forward signaling channel. For the pre-negotiated quality-of-service level, paging packet delay level must be limited. In this paper, we consider static and dynamic multiplexing schemes for paging packets, and develop an analytical method for calculating paging packet delay and relative power consumption levels. Using this analytial method, we investigate the effect of network parameters on the paging packet delay and relative power consumption levels.

  • In this paper, we implement the function of the IEEE802.2LLC(logical link control) sublayer one of the 7layers in MAP(manufacturing automation protocol), a standard communication protocol for manufacturing automation. With the assembly language we designed the class 3 function based on the IEEE standards and verified on the network adaptor hardware. In this experiment, we tested the function using the simplified variables considering that the retransmission value was chosen to be 1 and the life-time of the transmission variable infinite. According to the result of the service procedures, we confirmed that user data were transmitted to the corresponding station without any error.

  • This paper describes a design and implementation of the DFR(Document Filing and Retrieval) system. one of applications of DOAM(Distributed Office Application Model) which is the international standard in ISO(International Standards Organization). On the basis of the international standard, the DFR system is implemented on SUN workstation and PC/386 with C language, and its implementation is verified by tracing the association descriptor and primitives of service elements when its operation is tested between client and server. The result of this study shows that the DFR system can be implemented on the basis of the international standard, and makes a contribution toward the establishment of functional standards for the DFR system.

  • The propagation prediction within a cell coverage in land mobile radio service is very important. The propagation loss is presented in a A+B logS110TR form, where both A and B are the parameter as function of the frequency and the antenna height and R is the distance of between base and mobile station. The propagation prediction is Cheju area is not easy, because a great number of peaks are found here and there at the foot of the Hanla Mt. The characteristics of radio propagation in Cheju area are measured for the Seorum transmitter site. The formular of correction which is regard to the configuration of the ground is presented, and the predicted values are compared with the measured one.

  • Protocol specifications and service definitions for distributed open system applications are defined using ASN.1. Therefore, to implement an open system application likes MHS, it is necessary to have well defined encoding/decoding modules which translate ASN.1 protocol specifications into their transfer syntaxes. However, that work is usually tedius, time consuming, and error prone. In this paper, we designed and implemented a new ASN.1 tool set which includes a new ASN.1 run-time library, called HY BER/DER, and an enhanced ASN.1-to-C compiler, called HYASNC$^{+}$. HYASNC$^{+}$ automatically generates C language encoder/decoder stub files and heder files for basic ASN.1 types and subtypes defiend in X.208 recommandation, and all X400 MHS system macro definitions. And, we evaluated the performance of HYASNC$^{+}$ compiler and HY BER/DER run-tiem library, and tested the interoperability of ASN.1 run-time library.

  • This paper proposes a new buffer management scheme to service delay-sensitive traffic and loss-sensitive traffic fairly in ATM networks. The proposed scheme uses tow buffers for delay-sensitive traffic and loss-sensitive traffic. To satisfy the average delay time of delay-sensitive traffic, cells in real-time buffer are served first. When congestion occurs in nonreal-time buffer, low loss priority cell in real-time buffer can be pushed out by high loss priority cell in nonreal-time buffer can be transferred to real-time buffer considering threshold value in real-time buffer. Using computer simulation, the existing methods and proposed scheme are compared and analyzed with respect to cell loss rate and average delay time. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme have superior performance to conventional schemes.

  • In this paper, a timer thresholds tuning algorithm is proposed, satisfying the required response time for traffic with time-critical applications and asynchronous traffic in FDDI network. Under light and medium load, priorities and timer thresholds play a minor role for medium access control. In these cases all quenes are served exhaustively with a ver high service probability and the packet loss probability approaches almost zero. Under overload condition, however, the performance of the FDDI Network is completely determined by the selection of the timer thresholds. The timer thresholds tuned by mathematical results is confirmed by simulation results using SIMAN/UNIX package. The allocation of guaranteed bandwidth can be controlled easily by tuning the timer thresholds according to the proposed rules.
