Korea Telecom provides a wide range of communicat ion services and plays an important role in bring advanced technologies to the society. Increasing needs for utility management lead up to develop a Telephone Outside plant Management System(TOMS) which combines facility management with Geog¬raphic Information System (GIS). TOMS is a powerful, flexible and effective outside plant facility management system. TOMS provides value added applic¬at ion softwares and easy-to-use user interfaces which make TOMS eas i ly adapted and extended to the individual sites. TOMS is now in use in 30 percent of central offices and will be used nation-wide by 1996.

CDLIB system, a CD-ROM network system constructed in the KTRC, made all the users connected with KTRC TRAN share the many CD-ROM drives and the massive information on the CD-ROM discs. The system is composed of CD-ROM network server, file server and the software which allows the users to retrieve CD-ROM discs through the network. This system has the following strong points : cost-effectiveness in the aspect of sharing the CD-ROM resources in the LAN environment and high system performance.

통신대역폭 거래(Bandwidth Trading, BT)는 국제적으로 1 조 달러 이상의 잠재적 시장을 보유한 사업 분야로, 특히 통신사업자에게는 비용절감과 새로운 수익창출의 기회를 제공한다. 그러나 아직까지 BT 에 대한 체계적인 연구는 국내/외를 막론하고 초기단계에 있다. 본 논문은 먼저 차세대 All-IP 인프라 환경에서 통신대역폭이 상품화되는 경향을 살펴본다. 또한 BT 허브(exchange hub) 역할을 할 제 3자 기반의 BTS(BT System)을 제안한다. 마지막으로 제안된 BTS 환경에서 통신사업자의 수입을 극대화하는 BTE(BT Engine)을, Markov 의사결정모형을 적용하여 개발한다.

본 연구는 DBMS에서의 Disk I/O 종류별, 옵션별 특성 및 성능 분석을 하고 이를 실제 시험을 통하여 검증하였다. Raw Device와 Quick I/O 등이 뛰어난 성능을 보여주었으나, UFS(Uxis File System)의 사용 및 관리의 용이성을 고려하여 특성에 맞는 DiskI/O 구성 방식이 필요함을 제시하였다.

Remote management and control system for LMDS wireless CATV network which is being developed at SK Telecom is developed. This system is composed of central control division located at head center and remote units for remote transceivers equipped in base stations and repeaters. It monitors the state of the remote transceivers and controls the operations using PSTN for iterface. Remote transceivers whould be equipped in pairs, and the operations are exchanged automatically in case of emergency situations. the remote units are designed not only to perform commands form central control division, bet to inform emergency situations such as disorder and power failure. This system works well, which is established at Central research center in SK Telecom with remote units such as BTX, PPTX, and PPRX. This system could be utilized in other applications requiring remote control through sligh modifications.

International Roaming is a kind of telecommunication service that enables subscribers use the same mobile number when they go abroad and access other service provider's network. International roaming call is made through three network parts-home (original service provider) network, intermediate network, and local (overseas service provider) network. It is not possible to monitor every section of whole roaming service network because service providers do not provide their network management information to other service providers. The limitation causes harsh problem when a service anomaly arises and operators have to confirm the reason of failure. To solve this problem, we propose a scheme that deduces roaming service status of each overseas service provider using internal network management information. SK telecom implemented a international roaming service management system based on the scheme using performance measurement of signaling points, roaming service nodes, and charging data from existing network management systems.

In this paper, we propose a VQ codebook design of speech recognition feature parameters in order to improve the performance of a distributed speech recognition system. For the context-dependent HMMs, a VQ codebook should be correlated with phonetic distributions in the training data for HMMs. Thus, we focus on a selection method of training data based on phonetic distribution instead of using all the training data for an efficient VQ codebook design. From the speech recognition experiments using the Aurora 4 database, the distributed speech recognition system employing a VQ codebook designed by the proposed method reduced the word error rate (WER) by 10% when compared with that using a VQ codebook trained with the whole training data.

본 논문은 기존의 수동적인 DHCP 가입자관리 시스템에서 탈피하여 중앙인증서버를 통한 통합가입자 관리방안에 대한 연구를 통해 새로운 자동화된 가입자관리 시스템을 제안하며, 가입자관리에 필요한 시스템을 각각의 기능별로 나누어 분산 처리함으로써 시스템의 안정성과 효율성을 높임과 동시에 ' 운영자의 개입을 배제하는 자동화' 라는 요소에 초점을 맞추어 기존의 시스템과의 차별적인 다양한 처리방안과 시스템 설계에 대한 방안을 제시한다.

In this paper we present the development of CITIS(Contractor Integrated Technical Information Service) reference model system which can be utilized for electronic commerce among enterprises. For the physical analysis target model, we selected switching system businesses of Korea Telecom. From analysis of life-cycle business process and data, we derived CITIS reference model containing CITIS To-Be model and CITIS scenario. Derived CITIS reference model is generalized so that it can be used not only for switching system businesses but other business areas regarding CITIS implementation. On the base of the derived CITIS reference model, We also developed CITIS information management system and CITIS-support workflow system as CITIS reference model system. Developed CITIS reference model system supports information and business process sharing among enterprises on internet and it does make a contribution to expansion of CITIS which is moving from conceptual research towards real implementation phase.

The dynamic capabilities of sensing market signals, creating new opportunities and reconfiguring resources and capabilities to new opportunities in a rapidly changing economic environment determines the competitiveness of the enterprise to create added value and survival. This study conceptualized a two-stage performance measurement framework based on the casual model of resource (input)-process-performance (output). We have developed a 'Process capability index' that reflect the dynamic capabilities factors as a key intermediary product linking resource inputs and performance outputs in enterprise performance measurement. The process capability index consists of four elements : manpower (level of human resource), operation productivity, structure and risk management. The DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) model was applied to the developed performance indicators to analyze the branch office performance of a telecom company. Process capability efficiency (stage 1) uses resource inputs to reach a certain level of process capabilities. In performance result efficiency (stage 2), the process capabilities are used to generate sales revenues and subscribers. The two-stage DEA model derives intermediate output values that optimize the individual stages simultaneously. Some branch offices in the telecom company have focused on process capability efficiency or some other branch offices focused on performance result efficiency. Positioning map using two-stage efficiency decomposition and benchmarking can help identify the sources of inefficiencies and visualize strategic directions for performance optimization. Applications of two-stage DEA in conjunction with the case study that are meaningfully used in performance measurement areas have been scarce. In particular, this paper has the contribution to present a new performance measurement model considering the organization theory, the dynamic capabilities.
