Two new marine sponges of family Tedaniidae, Tedania (Tedon iu) songakensis n. sp. and Tedania (Tedonia) sasuensis n. sp. were collected from Jeju Island and Chuja Island, Korea between 2004 and 2005. T. (T.) songakensis n. sp. is similar to T (T.) purpurescen Bergquist and Fromont, 1988 based on its type of spicules, but is distinguished from growth form and size of small onychaetes. The growth form of this species is massive, and is compared with thin encrusting of Tedania (T.) purpurescen. The onychaetes of the new species is twice as long as that of T. (T.) purpurescen. T. (T.) sasuensis n. sp. is closely related to T. (T.) connectens (Bronsted, 1924) in type of spicules. However, it is different in size of onychaetes and growth form. The large onychaetes of new species is larger than that of T (T.) connectens. The small onychaetes of new species is smaller than that of T. (T.) connectens. The growth form is massive in new species, but thick encrustins in T.(T.) connectens. And T. (T.) songakensis n. sp. is similar to T. (T.) sasuensis n. sp. in growth form. However, the former is widely different from the latter in shape, color and size of all spicules.

The sponge specimens were collected from Geojedo Island, Korea During from 1994 to 1998 with fishing nets or by scuba divers. They were identified into 34 species of 25 genera in 15 families, of which the one species, Tedania rhoi is a new speices, and Clathria (Axociella) simae is new to the Korean fauna. This species were redescribed.

본인은 1984년 6월부터1985년 5월까지 서해연안(작약도, 대천, 안면도, 안흥)과 남해연안의 삼천포를 중심으로 한 부근섬(신수도, 늑도, 비진도, 충무) 및 거제도, 제주도 등지에서 채집된 재료 90여점과 그간 미해결로 보류되어있던 기존 표본들을 동정분류한 결과 26 종의 기록종과 3 종의 한국 미기록종(Spongia officienalis , S. zimmocca, Tedania Tublifera)이 밝혀졌다. 기록종 가운데 Esperiopsis uncigera 와 Hymeniacidon sinapium은 재검토되었다.

A large number of Demospongiate have been collected from 18 localities in Cheju Island and its adjacent waters during the period from 1970 to 1991. The identified Demospongiae consist of 67 species, 40 genera and 30 families. Among them 11 species were new to Koera; Oxeostilon fernaldi, Microciona gradalis, Tedania ignis, Haliclona koremella, Adocia neens, Callyspongia variabilis, Suberites axinelloides, Anthosigmella raromicrosclera, Epipolasis kushimotoensis, Acanthella insignia, and Spongosorites salimonensis.
