Characterization of the Stress-optic Properties of Ceramics by Terahertz Time-domain Spectroscopy

  • This paper introduces a rapid measurement technique for the stress-optic coefficient, using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. First we propose a design combining a four-point bending device with a scanning stage to streamline the loading process. Then we detail the measurement principle and outline the signal-processing algorithm. The experiments are carried out on Al2O3, a representative ceramic material. The experimental data reveal that the refractive index of Al2O3 exhibits a linear decrease with increasing stress. This work supplies an efficient method for stress measurement rooted in the stress-optic effect.

  • The practical value of the third place using ubiquitous digital technology has been increasing rapidly, therefore it is inevitable to educate students of spatial design in the interdisciplinary education system based on the unified technology of digital in order to cultivate leading designers to adapt new era of spatial design. After a research for the unified form of spatial planning and case studies of foreign educations, this study addresses the issues to classify the interdisciplinary teaching form into three educational categories digital interactive education, digital unified education and digital creative education. Finally, the study proposes the basic form of the ideal and futuristic education of spatial design with the distinguished results after conducting the model curriculum by the above categories.

  • In this paper, we consider the characteristics of information technology sectors women. By surveying IT women worker, we attempted to define the attributes of them and examine the problems and what they are needed to IT education following the changes in the highly competitive information technology industry. Especially, we used data mining tools says association analysis to analyze for the Women Information Scientist Association of Korea(WINSA) provides IT worker women with education packages and what is the general culture course from the point of IT employment view. The data was analyzed by SAS enterprise tools.

Survey about continuing education after graduation of dental technician (치과기공사의 졸업 후 계속교육에 관한 조사)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine after graduation of dental technology-do continuing education confirm attendance and expectation level. Methods: The subjects in this study were 151 dental technician in Seoul, Inchon, Gyeonggi and Chungcheongnam-do in province. A survey was conducted from April to May 2011, and the collected data were analyzed with SPSS 12.0 program. Results: Participation the continuing education 40.4%, do not attend the continuing education 59.6%. General characteristics of respondents according to education after graduation, participate the continuing education in career 5-10 years 54.1%. Do not attend the continuing education three-year graduation 90.6% is the most highly statistically significant survey showed significant differences(p<0.05). Through continuing education, four-point scale of satisfaction survey results, general average $3.00{\pm}0.65$, higher educational status will create more autonomy and authority in the work place $3.15{\pm}0.62$ was the highest. Conclusion: Expectation effect about continuing education and education effect after participating, the dental technician recognized that they felt pleasure and satisfaction through education.

The mathematics education reform today is undergoing in a wider era and faces its attention on innovation education individually education, flexible and diversified education, give prominence to integration of the curriculum, the integration of teaching content and information technology, and the changing of teaming methods and teaching methods.   • 본 논문에서는 환경오염이 거의 없고, 무한한 에너지 원인 태양광을 이용하여 발전하는 태양광발전장치를 이용하여, 2차전지 및 IT기술을 기반으로 태양광발전장치를 이용한 전원공급장치를 제작하였다. 이 장치를 한국기술대학교의 몽골 해외봉사단에서 직접 설치, 운용하여, 상용전원이 제한적인 개발도상국가 및 후진국에 도입하여 생활의 질을 한층 높일 수 있도록 하였다. 이 태양광발전 전원공급장치는 발전된 전기 에너지를 충전 컨트롤러를 통해 2차전지 및 독립형인버터로 전달되어 상용전원으로 사용할 수 있게 된다. 독립형 태양광발전장치는 대상 부하의 크기를 고려하여 각각의 장비를 선정하였고, 2차전지를 이용하여 주간에 저장된 전기에너지를 발전을 하지 않는 저녁에 사용하므로 단속적인 태양광에너지의 단점을 보완하였으며, 태양광 발전장치에서 실시간으로 출력되는 데이터 값을 IT기술을 통하여 감시 및 제어할 수 있게 구성하였다. 이는 상용전원 공급이 제한적인 개발도상국이나 독립적인 전원이 필요한 외진 곳의 수용가에게 전기 수요를 만족시킬 수 있을 것이라고 예상된다.

Microwave Signal Spectrum Broadening System Based on Time Compression

  • We propose and experimentally demonstrate an all-optical radio frequency (RF) spectrum broadening system based on time compression. By utilizing the procedure of dispersion compensation values, the frequency domain is broadened by compressing the linear chirp optical pulse which has been multiplexed by the radio frequency. A detailed mathematical description elucidates that the time compression is a very preferred scheme for spectrum broadening. We also report experimental results to prove this method, magnification factor at 2.7, 8 and 11 have been tested with different dispersion values of fiber, the experimental results agree well with the theoretical results. The proposed system is flexible and the magnification factor is determined by the dispersion values, the proposed scheme is a linear system. In addition, the influence of key parameters, for instance optical bandwidth and the sideband suppression ratio (SSR), are discussed. Magnification factor 11 of the proposed system is demonstrated.

  • The concerns for entrepreneurship education has increased significantly in decades. Government asking to university to teach the entrepreneurship on the undergraduate and graduate level. Existing graduate-level entrepreneurship program is not enough for the reciprocal relationship among the subjects. This study review the university's entrepreneurship program in the domestic and abroad. We suggest the process and algorithm based education program which is The Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization.

Applying Decision Tree Algorithms for Analyzing HS-VOSTS Questionnaire Results

  • Data mining and knowledge discovery techniques have shown to be effective in finding hidden underlying rules inside large database in an automated fashion. On the other hand, analyzing, assessing, and applying students' survey data are very important in science and engineering education because of various reasons such as quality improvement, engineering design process, innovative education, etc. Among those surveys, analyzing the students' views on science-technology-society can be helpful to engineering education. Because, although most researches on the philosophy of science have shown that science is one of the most difficult concepts to define precisely, it is still important to have an eye on science, pseudo-science, and scientific misconducts. In this paper, we report the experimental results of applying decision tree induction algorithms for analyzing the questionnaire results of high school students' views on science-technology-society (HS-VOSTS). Empirical results on various settings of decision tree induction on HS-VOSTS results from one South Korean university students indicate that decision tree induction algorithms can be successfully and effectively applied to automated knowledge discovery from students' survey data.

Preservice Teachers' Changing Perceptions of Technology Infusion - The Impact of Web-based Instruction in Mathematics Education

  • This study sought to examine preservice teachers' beliefs about their intent to use computers and Internet resources in mathematics classrooms. Also, web-based instruction on topics in elementary school mathematics was used to foster teachers' confidence and competence in using instructional technology, thereby promoting positive attitudes toward use of computers and Internet resources in the mathematics classroom. The results indicated that students who participated in the web-based instructions exhibited a significantly (p < 0.05) better attitude toward using computers and web-based resources in teaching mathematics than did students in the control group.
