Evaluating the Properties and Commercializing Potential Of Rape Stalk-based Pellets Produced with a Pilot-scaled Flat-die Pellet Mill (파일럿 규모의 평다이 성형기로 제조한 유채대 펠릿의 연료적 특성 및 상용화 가능성 평가)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the potential of rape stalk (RAS) as a raw material for the production of solid bio-fuels. RAS was immersed in an aqueous solution with acetic acid concentration of 1 percent, The content of reducing sugars separated from the RAS was analyzed. Glucose showed the highest content followed by xylose, galactose, arabinose and mannose. The immersed and non-immersed RAS were used for producing pellets with a pilot-scaled flat-die pellet mill. Bulk density and calorific values of the pellets improved with the use of the immersed RAS and the addition of wood particles. The values exceeded the minimum requirements for the A-grade of non-woody pellets (≧600 kg/m3 & ≧ 14.5 MJ/kg) designated by the ISO. Ash content of the pellets reduced with the immersion of RAS and the value satisfied the A-grade level (≦6.0%) of the ISO standard. The durability of the immersed RAS-based pellets was much higher than that of non-immersed IRS-based pellets, and the values were increased with the addition of wood particles. However, the durability did not meet the acceptance level for the B-grade of non-woody pellets (≧96.0%) designated by the ISO. These results suggested that the addition of binders in the production of non-woody pellets using an RAS immersed in acetic acid-based aqueous solution is required for the commercialization of the pellets.

A Study on Wearable Augmented Reality-Based Experiential Content: Focusing on AR Stone Tower Content (착용형 증강현실 기반 체험형 콘텐츠 연구: AR 돌탑 콘텐츠를 중심으로)

  • This paper proposes AR stone tower content, an experiential content based on wearable augmented reality (AR). Although wearable augmented reality is gaining attention, the acceptance of the technology is still focused on specialized applications such as industrial sites. On the other hand, the proposed AR stone tower content is based on the material of 'stone tower' so that general users can relate to it and easily participate in it, and it is organized to utilize space in a moving environment and find and stack stones based on natural hand gestures. The proposed AR stone tower content was implemented in the HoloLens 2 environment and evaluated by general users through a pilot exhibition in a small art museum. The evaluation results showed that the overall satisfaction with the content averaged 3.85, and the content appropriateness for the stone tower material was very high at 4.15. In particular, users were highly satisfied with content comprehension and sound, but somewhat less satisfied with object recognition, body adaptation, and object control. The above user evaluations confirm the resonance and positive response to the material, but also highlight the difficulties of the average user in experiencing and interacting with the wearable AR environment.

An Empirical Analysis on the Persistent Usage Intention of Chinese Personal Cloud Service (개인용 클라우드 서비스에 대한 중국 사용자의 지속적 사용의도에 관한 실증 연구)

  • With the rapid development of information technology, the ways of usage have changed drastically. The ways and efficiency of traditional service application to data processing already could not satisfy the requirements of modern users. Nowadays, users have already understood the importance of data. Therefore, the processing and saving of big data have become the main research of the Internet service company. In China, with the rise and explosion of 115 Cloud leads to other technology companies have began to join the battle of cloud services market. Although currently Chinese cloud services are still mainly dominated by cloud storage service, the series of service contents based on cloud storage service have been affirmed by users, and users willing to try these new ways of services. Thus, how to let users to keep using cloud services has become a topic that worth for exploring and researching. The academia often uses the TAM model with statistical analysis to analyze and check the attitude of users in using the system. However, the basic TAM model obviously already could not satisfy the increasing scale of system. Therefore, the appropriate expansion and adjustment to the TAM model (i. e. TAM2 or TAM3) are very necessary. This study has used the status of Chinese internet users and the related researches in other areas in order to expand and improve the TAM model by adding the brand influence, hardware environment and external environments to fulfill the purpose of this study. Based on the research model, the questionnaires were developed and online survey was conducted targeting the cloud services users of four Chinese main cities. Data were obtained from 210 respondents were used for analysis to validate the research model. The analysis results show that the external factors which are service contents, and brand influence have a positive influence to perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. However, the external factor hardware environment only has a positive influence to the factor of perceived ease of use. Furthermore, the perceived security factor that is influenced by brand influence has a positive influence persistent intention to use. Persistent intention to use also was influenced by the perceived usefulness and persistent intention to use was influenced by the perceived ease of use. Finally, this research analyzed external variables' attributes using other perspective and tried to explain the attributes. It presents Chinese cloud service users are more interested in fundamental cloud services than extended services. In private cloud services, both of increased user size and cooperation among companies are important in the study. This study presents useful opinions for the purpose of strengthening attitude for private cloud service users can use this service persistently. Overall, it can be summarized by considering the all three external factors could make Chinese users keep using the personal could services. In addition, the results of this study can provide strong references to technology companies including cloud service provider, internet service provider, and smart phone service provider which are main clients are Chinese users.

Quality Comparison of Canned ana Retort Pouched Sardine (정어리 통조림 및 레토르트파우치 제품의 품질 비교)

  • For the purpose of obtaining basic data which can be applied to evaluate the quality of the retortable pouch and tin-plated canned product, the canned sardine and the retort pouched sardine were prepared and compared in terms of thermal sterilization times required and product duality during storage. Retort pouched sardine required $20\%$ less thermal sterilization time than the canned sardine. Volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) and amino nitrogen ($NH_2-N$) contents in both canned and retort pouched sardine showed little difference during processing and storage. During storage, peroxide value (POV) and thiobarbituric acid (TBA) value of the canned sardine had a slightly higher value compared to the retort pouched sardine, but acid value (AV) revealed little difference between both canned and retort pouched sardine. Trimethylamine (TMA) content of the both canned and retort pouched sardine showed little difference during processing and storage. The inosinic acid (IMP) content in canned and retort pouched sardine was $8.39{\sim}9.80{\mu}mole/g$ range, and had no significant change during processing and storage. The retort ponched sardine revealed a smaller reduction in polyenoic acid than the canned sardine during processing and storage. Among the TPA (texture profile analysis) parameters, hardness maintained a slightly higher value in the retort pouched sardine than in the canned sardine. Color values showed that the retort pouched sardine was generally lighter than the canned sardine. In sensory evaluation, the retort pouched sardine was scored slightly higher, in most cases, for color, flavor, texture, taste and overall acceptance than the canned sardine. It was concluded from the results that the retort pouched sardine was at least equal to the canned sardine in product quality.

Determination of the Shelf-life of Pasteurized Korean Rice Wine, Yakju, in Aseptic Packaging (가열 살균 후 무균 포장한 한국 전통 청주의 저장성에 관한 연구)

  • The practical shelf-life of pasteurized Korean rice wine ‘Yakju’, aseptically packed in Tetra-pak, was determined. The test sample products were stored at $4^{\circ}C,\;20^{\circ}C,\;30^{\circ}C\;and\;35^{\circ}C$ for 19 weeks, and the quality assessment was made at two weeks interval. The quality parameters evaluated were pH, acidity, reducing sugar, absorbance at 370 nm, total and acid producing bacteria, yeast and mold, and sensory quality. No meaningful changes of pH and reducing sugar were noticed during the storage for 19 weeks at temperatures tested. The absorbance at 370 nm increased slightly during storage. The total numbers of microorganisms in the product decreased during storage and a drastical reduction of acid producing bacteria was observed after 6 weeks of storage. Both yeast and mold were not found in the pasteurized products. The sensory quality of stored rice-wine was evaluated by triangle test and scoring test. The panels could distinguish the product stored at $4^{\circ}C$ from other products stored at the higher temperatures for over 6 weeks. The overall acceptance of the product decreased gradually during storage, and the rate constants for the changes were $7.93{\times}10^{-3},\;at\;20^{\circ}C,\;9.69{\times}10^{-3}\;at\;30^{\circ}C\;and\;13.4{\times}10^{-3}\;at\;35^{\circ}C$, respectively. The activation energy estimated by Arrhenius equation was 24,795 kJ/kmol. The estimated shelf-life of Yakju pasteurized and aseptically packed was 24 months at $10^{\circ}C$, 16 months at $25^{\circ}C$ and 14 months at $25^{\circ}C$. The shelf-life of Yakju in Seoul was calculated to be 20 months, based on the monthly average temperature of the city.

Quality Characteristics of Low-Salt and -Fat Meatball Added Black Garlic (Allium sativum L.) during Cold Storage (흑마늘 첨가 저염.저지방 미트볼의 냉장저장 중 품질변화)

  • The effects of black garlic (Allium sativum L.) addition on the quality characteristics of low-fat and low-salt meatballs during cold storage were investigated. Meatballs were divided into five groups: none (control), 0.1% ascorbic acid (T1), 1% black garlic (T2), 2% black garlic (T3), and 3% black garlic (T4). pH and lightness values were lower in the treatment groups than in controls by storage time. pH and lightness values were decreased with increasing addition of black garlic (p<0.05). Addition of black garlic to meatball resulted in significantly higher TBARS values than that of control and T1 at day 1 (p<0.05). However, the addition of black garlic to meatball resulted in significantly lower VBN values than that of control after storage for 14 d. On day 14 or 21, the VBN values of meatball with added black garlic were lower than those of control and decreased with increasing addition of black garlic (p<0.05). Although addition of black garlic produced low acceptance of color scores, the flavor, tenderness, and juiciness of meatball with added black garlic were similar to those of control and T1 (p>0.05). Based on the current results, addition of black garlic could be recommended for preventing protein degradation in low-salt and low-fat meatball. Further, black garlic could be useful to the pork meat product industry as a food additive.

Preparation and Antioxidant Activity of Health Drink with Extract Powders from Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) Seed (홍화씨 추출분말 함유 건강음료의 제조와 항산화성)

  • Health drinks were prepared with freeze dried powder of 60% ethanol extract (60% EFDP), 60% ethanol extract after hydrolysis with amyloglucosidase (60% AEFDP) and 80% ethanol extract (80% EFDP) from roasted safflower seed. Quality characteristics and antioxidative properties were investigated. Yield of freeze dried powders were ranged in $4.67%{\sim}5.62%$. Brix, pH and titratable acidity of safflower drinks were ranged in $11.4{\sim}14.2%$, $2.83{\sim}3.34$ and $0.09{\sim}0.91%$, respectively. Content of total phenolic compounds was much more in 80% EFDP (117 mg/g) and safflower drink-I (SD-I, 440 ppm) than others. Content of total flavonoid was observed in higher level in 60% EFDP (49 mg/g) and safflower drink-V (SD-V, 138 ppm) than others. Antioxidant compounds such as N-[2-(5-hydroxy-1H-indol-3-yl)ethyl]ferulamide(serotonin-I) and N-[2-(5-hydroxy-1H-indol-3yl)ethyl]-p-coumaramide(serotonin-II) exhibited higher contents of 21.09 ppm, 33.56 ppm in 60% EFDP and of 3.83 ppm, 5.81 ppm in safflower drink-II (SD-II) than others. Content of acacetin was much more in 80% EFDP (13.53 ppm) and safflower drink-IV (SD-IV, 1.14 ppm) than others. From the DPPH test to measure antioxidant activity, it was shown that 80% EFDP and SD-I have stronger scavenging activities of 94.58% and 94.88%, respectively, while BHA standard solution does 93.88%. Among drinks, SD-II was revealed to have highest level on overall acceptance, color and flavor through sensory evaluation. These results induced that safflower seed can be used as natural antioxidant and functional food material.

Microbiological and Physicochemical Changes of Vegetable Juices (Angelica keiskei and Brassica loeracea var. acephala) Treated by UV Irradiation (UV 조사 신립초 및 케일 녹즙의 저장기간에 따른 미생물 및 이화학적 변화)

  • A fresh juice has become a new functional food available for dieting and health. However, the shelf-life of vegetable juice is very short because of the absence of heat pasteurization process. To elongate the shelf-life of vegetable juices, such as Angelica keiskei and Brassica loeracea var. acephala, the changes of microbiological, chemical and sensory property by UV irradiation were investigated. The total aerobic bacterial numbers of A. keiskei and B. loeracea var. acephala vegetable juices were $3.2{\times}10^5$ and $7.0{\times}10^4\;CFU/mL$, respectively, after wring process. However, the numbers were $3.6{\times}10^3{\sim}9.7{\times}10^3$ and $3.7{\times}10^3{\sim}2.7{\times}10^4\;CFU/mL$ after UV treatment on wring juice, and this lower microbial number was maintained during storage. The number of coliform bacteria also reduced significantly by UV treatment, and the bactericidal effect was higher when the flow rate is slower. The increase of lightness and yellowness, and decrease of redness were observed after treatment of UV on both vegetable juices, but the differences were not significant between flow rates. The ascorbic acid contents of vegetable juices were reduced by UV irradiation regardless of flow rate, and storage. Overall acceptance in sensory analysis revealed that there was no significant difference between the control and vegetable juice irradiated UV at 0 days, but sample with UV treatment showed higher score at 3 days. Therefore, UV treatment on vegetable juice can elongate the shelf-life without any problems in flavor and color.

  • The practical application of modern space science and technology have resulted in many actual and potential gains of mankind. These successes have conditioned and increased the need for a viable space law regime and the challenge of space has ultimately led to the formation of an international legal regime for space. Space law is no longer a primitive law. It is a modern law. Yet, in its stages of growth, it has not reached the condition of perfection. Therefore, under the existing state of thing, we could carefully say that the space law is one of the most newest fields of jurisprudence despite the fact that no one has so far defined it perfectly. However, if space law can be a true jurisprudential entity, it must be definable. In defining the space law, first of all, the grasp of it's nature iis inevitable. Although space law encompasses many tenets and facets of other legal discriplines, its principal nature is public international law, because space law affects and effects law relating intercourse among nations. Since early 1960s when mankind was first able to flight and stay in outer space, the necessity to control and administrate the space activities of human beings has growingly increased. The leading law-formulating agency to this purpose is the United Nation's ad hoc Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space("COPUOS"). COPUOS gave direction to public international space law by establishing the 1963 Declaration of Legal Principles Governing the Activities of the States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space("1963 Declaration"). The 1963 Declaration is very foundation of the five international multilateral treaties that were established successively after the 1963 Declaration. The five treaties are as follows: 1) The Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space including Moon and other Celestial Bodies, 1967. 2) The Agreement on the Rescue of Astronauts, the Return of Astronauts, and the Return of Objects Launched into Outer Space, 1968. 3) The Convention on International Liability for Damage Caused by Space Objects, 1972. 4) The Convention on Registration of Objects Launched into Outer Space, 1974. 5) The Agreement Governing Activities of States on the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies: Moon Treaty, 1979. The other face of space law is it's commercial aspect. Space is no longer the sole domination of governments. Many private enterprise have already moved directly or indirectly into space activities in the parts such as telecommunications and space manufacturing. Since space law as the public international law has already advanced in accordance with the developments of space science and technology, there left only a few areas untouched in this field of law. Therefore the possibility of rapid growth of space law is expected in the parts of commerical space law, as it is, at this time, in a nascent state. The resources of the space environment are also commercially both valuable and important since the resources include the tangible natural resources to be found on the moon and other celestial bodies. Other space-based resources are solar energy, geostationary and geosynchronous orbital positions, radio frequencies, area possibly suited to human habitations, all areas and materials lending themselves to scientific research and inquiry. Remote sensing, space manufacturing and space transportation services are also another potential areas in which commercial. endeavors of Mankind can be carried out. In this regard, space insurance is also one of the most important devices allowing mankind to proceed with commercial space venture. Thus, knowlege of how space insurance came into existence and what it covers is necessary to understand the legal issues peculiar to space law. As a conclusion the writer emphasized the international cooperation of all nations in space activities of mankind, because space commerce, by its nature, will give rise many legal issues of international scope and concern. Important national and world-community interests would be served over time through the acceptance of new international agreements relating to remote sencing, direct television broadcasting, the use of nuclear power sources in space, the regularization of the activities of space transportation systems. standards respecting contamination and pollution, and a practical boundary between outer space and air space. If space activity regulation does not move beyond the national level, the peaceful exploration of space for all mankind will not be realized. For the efficient regulation on private and governmental space activities, the creation of an international space agency, similar to the International Civil Aviation Organization but modified to meet the needs of space technology, will be required. But prior to creation of an international organization, it will be necessary to establish, at national level, the Office of Air and Space Bureau, which will administrate liscence liscence application process, safety review and sale of launch equipment, and will carry out launch service.

  • HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) is a 3.5-generation asynchronous mobile communications service based on the third generation of W-CDMA. In Korea, it is mainly provided in through videophone service. Because of the diffusion of more powerful and diversified services, along with steep advances in mobile communications technology, consumers demand a wide range of choices. However, because of the variety of technologies, which tend to overflow the market regardless of consumer preferences, consumers feel increasingly confused. Therefore, we should not adopt strategies that focus only on developing new technology on the assumption that new technologies are next-generation projects. Instead, we should understand the process by which consumers accept new forms of technology and devise schemes to lower market entry barriers through strategies that enable developers to understand and provide what consumers really want. In the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use are suggested as the most important factors affecting the attitudes of people adopting new technologies (Davis, 1989; Taylor and Todd, 1995; Venkatesh, 2000; Lee et al., 2004). Perceived usefulness is the degree to which a person believes that a particular technology will enhance his or her job performance. Perceived ease of use is the degree of subjective belief that using a particular technology will require little physical and mental effort (Davis, 1989; Morris and Dillon, 1997; Venkatesh, 2000). Perceived pleasure and perceived usefulness have been shown to clearly affect attitudes toward accepting technology (Davis et al., 1992). For example, pleasure in online shopping has been shown to positively impact consumers' attitudes toward online sellers (Eighmey and McCord, 1998; Mathwick, 2002; Jarvenpaa and Todd, 1997). The perceived risk of customers is a subjective risk, which is distinguished from an objective probabilistic risk. Perceived risk includes a psychological risk that consumers perceive when they choose brands, stores, and methods of purchase to obtain a particular item. The ability of an enterprise to revolutionize products depends on the effective acquisition of knowledge about new products (Bierly and Chakrabarti, 1996; Rothwell and Dodgson, 1991). Knowledge acquisition is the ability of a company to perceive the value of novelty and technology of the outside (Cohen and Levinthal, 1990), to evaluate the outside technology that has newly appeared (Arora and Gambaradella, 1994), and to predict the future evolution of technology accurately (Cohen and Levinthal, 1990). Consumer innovativeness is the degree to which an individual adopts innovation earlier than others in the social system (Lee, Ahn, and Ha, 2001; Gatignon and Robertson, 1985). That is, it shows how fast and how easily consumers adopt new ideas. Innovativeness is regarded as important because it has a significant effect on whether consumers adopt new products and on how fast they accept new products (Midgley and Dowling, 1978; Foxall, 1988; Hirschman, 1980). We conducted cross-national comparative research using the TAM model, which empirically verified the relationship between the factors that affect attitudes - perceived usefulness, ease of use, perceived pleasure, perceived risk, innovativeness, and perceived level of knowledge management - and attitudes toward HSDPA service. We also verified the relationship between attitudes and usage intention for the purpose of developing more effective methods of management for HSDPA service providers. For this research, 346 questionnaires were distributed among 350 students in the Republic of Korea. Because 26 of the returned questionnaires were inconsistent or had missing data, 320 questionnaires were used in the hypothesis tests. In UK, 192 of the total 200 questionnaires were retrieved, and two incomplete ones were discarded, bringing the total to 190 questionnaires used for statistical analysis. The results of the overall model analysis are as follows: Republic of Korea x2=333.27(p=0.0), NFI=0.88, NNFI=0.88, CFI=0.91, IFI=0.91, RMR=0.054, GFI=0.90, AGFI=0.84, UK x2=176.57(p=0.0), NFI=0.88, NNFI=0.90, CFI=0.93, IFI=0.93, RMR=0.062, GFI=0.90, AGFI=0.84. From the results of the hypothesis tests of Korean consumers about the relationship between factors that affect intention to use HSDPA services and attitudes, we can conclude that perceived usefulness, ease of use, pleasure, a high level of knowledge management, and innovativeness promote positive attitudes toward HSDPA mobile phones. However, ease of use and perceived pleasure did not have a direct effect on intention to use HSDPA service. This may have resulted from the fact that the use of video phones is not necessary for everyday life yet. Moreover, it has been shown that attitudes toward HSDPA video phones are directly correlated with usage intention, which means that perceived usefulness, ease of use, pleasure, a high level of knowledge management, and innovativeness. These relationships form the basis of the intention to buy, contributing to a situation in which consumers decide to choose carefully. A summary of the results of the hypothesis tests of European consumers revealed that perceived usefulness, pleasure, risk, and the level of knowledge management are factors that affect the formation of attitudes, while ease of use and innovativeness do not have an effect on attitudes. In particular, with regard to the effect value, perceived usefulness has the largest effect on attitudes, followed by pleasure and knowledge management. On the contrary, perceived risk has a smaller effect on attitudes. In the Asian model, ease of use and perceived pleasure were found not to have a direct effect on intention to use. However, because attitudes generally affect the intention to use, perceived usefulness, pleasure, risk, and knowledge management may be considered key factors in attitude development from which usage intention arises. In conclusion, perceived usefulness, pleasure, and the level of knowledge management have an effect on attitude formation in both Asian and European consumers, and such attitudes shape these consumers' intention to use. Furthermore, the hypotheses that ease of use and perceived pleasure affect usage intention are rejected. However, ease of use, perceived risk, and innovativeness showed different results.
