The purpose of this study is to develop STEAM program for gifted education by combining educational contents of humanities, arts, engineering, technology, and design into various subjects, focusing on mathematics-science curriculum of elementary school. The achievement standards and curriculum contents of elementary mathematics-science curriculum were analyzed while considering 2015 revised national curriculum. And then, a 16 class-hour convergence education program consisting of 3-hour block time was developed by applying the STEAM model with 4 steps. The validity of the program developed through this process was verified, and four educational experts evaluate whether the program can be applied to the elementary school. Based on the evaluation results, the convergence education program was finalized. As a result of implementing the gifted education program for mathematics-science, students achieved the objectives and values of convergence education such as creative design, self-directed participation, cooperative learning, and interest in class activities (game, making). If this convergence education program is applied to regular class, creative experiential class, or class for gifted children, students can promote their scientific creativity, artistic sensitivity, design sence, and so on.

This study aimed to identify the effects of using storytelling techniques in sex education, in which students are encouraged to talk about their experiences with sex and love and helps them form their own sex values and decision-making skills related to sex. A five-period teaching-learning plan covering issues including safe, considerate and responsible sex was developed using the storytelling technique for 134 first-year students in 4 classes. 134 questionnaires were administrated through pre-and post-test and 38 worksheets applying a variety of storytelling activities were analyzed using content analysis. Students were found to have gained a more positive outlook on relationships and a considerate attitude towards others in sex. There was also a significant increase in items considering safe sex, including perceptions on contraception methods and selection of safe contraception methods. The students' sense of sexual responsibility was also enhanced. Results of content analysis found students to have shifted to sex focusing on love and responsibility, and to have grown a stronger sense of responsibility in their relationships. Furthermore, the respondents expressed interest in selecting proper contraception methods and held strongly negative perceptions about abortion.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the vocational identity through the reflection of the major experience as the teacher through the life history of the technical high school. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, two technical high school mechanical and career teachers were selected as research participants and in-depth interviews were conducted with them. The data obtained through the in-depth interviews were analyzed through six steps. Six major experiences of the participants were identified as results of the research: (1) the experience of trying to train the specialist of precision machining in the beginning of teacher's life, (2) experience as a skill competition team teacher, (3) experience of innovating public education by introducing new industry field, (4) experience of constant learning new field and sharing with colleagues, (5) experience in the rapid change of the status of technical high school, (6) experience in the prevention of students' safety accidents and maintenance of the practice field. Through these educational experiences, each research participant was forming one's vocational identity as a mechanical teacher. The vocational identity of the research participants were identified as follows: (1) identity drifting phase, (2) identity stability stage, (3) transition stage of the teacher role, (4) suspended stage to preserve identity, (5) identification sublimation stage, (6) identification of the true meaning of the teacher, and integration of the identity. Through these six steps, their identities were formed, strengthened and changed at each stage.

This study analyzed how North Korean defectors recognized and overcame conflict in the South Korean job culture during the course of entering and settling into South Korea, and the association between their old career and adaptation within their new careers. The study selected 13 employed participants who entered South Korea more than five years ago and experienced working. Interviews were conducted over the course of five years. The topics were analyzed after performing interviews 60 to 120 minutes long by recording and transcribing the recordings and using semi-structured questionnaires for the 13 people. The results reflected the job environment in North Korea, their career background, factors for a successful new life, their constant efforts for employment, the difficult adaption to South Korean life, pursuing job stability, accepting South Korean culture, and career compromises. The results of this study are as follows. First, they undergo difficulty in the course of selecting jobs due to the converted environment from passivity to autonomy. Second, they cannot use their previous job history and they complained about prejudice and the lack of job information. Third, major problems included their lack of adaptability, stress, and loss of economic power. The study suggests that these North Korean defectors undergo an integrated course of cultural learning. Fourth, they were hardly able to adapt. Fifth, they tried to overcome conflicts of job culture according to their personal characteristics.
As electronic mails are being widely used for facility and speedness of information communication, as the amount of spam mails which have malice and advertisement increase and cause lots of social and economic problem. A number of approaches have been proposed to alleviate the impact of spam. These approaches can be categorized into pre-acceptance and post-acceptance methods. Post-acceptance methods include bayesian filters, collaborative filtering and e-mail prioritization which are based on words or sentances. But, spammers are changing those characteristics and sending to avoid filtering system. In the case of Korean, the abnormal usages can be much more than other languages because syllable is composed of chosung, jungsung, and jongsung. Existing formal expressions and learning algorithms have the limits to meet with those changes promptly and efficiently. So, we present an methods for recognizing Korean abnormal language(Koral) to improve accuracy and efficiency of filtering system. The method is based on syllabic than word and Smith-waterman algorithm. Through the experiment on filter keyword and e-mail extracted from mail server, we confirmed that Koral is recognized exactly according to similarity level. The required time and space costs are within the permitted limit.

In the medical field, numerical imbalance of data due to differences in disease prevalence is a common problem. It reduces the performance of a artificial intelligence network, leading to difficulties in learning a network with good performance. Recently, generative adversarial network (GAN) technology has been introduced as a way to address this problem, and its ability has been demonstrated by successful applications in various fields. However, it is still difficult to achieve good results in solving problems with performance degraded by numerical imbalances because the image resolution of the previous studies is not yet good enough and the structure in the image is modeled locally. In this paper, we propose a multi-scale conditional generative adversarial network based on attention mechanism, which can produce high resolution images to solve the numerical imbalance problem of chest X-ray image data. The network was able to produce images for various diseases by controlling condition variables with only one network. It's efficient and effective in that the network don't need to be learned independently for all disease classes and solves the problem of long distance dependency in image generation with self-attention mechanism.
One of the basic tasks for robots to interact with humans is to quickly and accurately grasp human behavior. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the accuracy of human pose recognition when the robot is estimating the human pose and to recognize it as quickly as possible. However, when the human pose is estimated using deep learning, which is a representative method of artificial intelligence technology, recognition accuracy and speed are not satisfied at the same time. Therefore, it is common to select one of a top-down method that has high inference accuracy or a bottom-up method that has high processing speed. In this paper, we propose two methods that complement the disadvantages while including both the advantages of the two methods mentioned above. The first is to perform parallel inference on the server using multi GPU, and the second is to mix bottom-up and One-class Classification. As a result of the experiment, both of the methods presented in this paper showed improvement in speed. If these two methods are applied to the entertainment robot, it is expected that a highly reliable interaction with the audience can be performed.
The automated dental cavity detection program for a new concept intra-oral dental x-ray imaging device, an auxiliary diagnosis system, which is able to assist a dentist to identify dental caries in an early stage and to make an accurate diagnosis, was to be developed. The primary theory of the automatic dental cavity detection program is divided into two algorithms; one is an image segmentation skill to discriminate between a dental cavity and a normal tooth and the other is a computational method to analyze feature of an tooth image and take an advantage of it for detection of dental cavities. In the present study, it is, first, evaluated how accurately the DRLSE (Direct Regularized Level Set Evolution) method extracts demarcation surrounding the dental cavity. In order to evaluate the ability of the developed algorithm to automatically detect dental cavities, 7 tooth phantoms from incisor to molar were fabricated which contained a various form of cavities. Then, dental cavities in the tooth phantom images were analyzed with the developed algorithm. Except for two cavities whose contours were identified partially, the contours of 12 cavities were correctly discriminated by the automated dental caries detection program, which, consequently, proved the practical feasibility of the automatic dental lesion detection algorithm. However, an efficient and enhanced algorithm is required for its application to the actual dental diagnosis since shapes or conditions of the dental caries are different between individuals and complicated. In the future, the automatic dental cavity detection system will be improved adding pattern recognition or machine learning based algorithm which can deal with information of tooth status.
Until now, various educational budgets, facilities, and programs have been put into school education, but the results have not been clearly evaluated. This study presents a model to analyze the effectiveness of educational support for students in high schools across the country. In this model, we first use EM cluster analysis to make clusters with similar inputs for school operation, and then calculate the relative efficiency in each cluster by using Network DEA analysis. The Network DEA analysis has a two-stage structure where the first stage uses six inputs in terms of school infrastructure to generate outputs such as the number of academic persistence. In the Network DEA analysis, the second stage uses 10 inputs in terms of school programs to generate outputs such as the number of enrollees to higher learning and the number of employees and per capita usage of library as the connection variable. Based on the efficiency analysis results, Tier analysis is performed by applying the Euclidean distance to select targets for benchmarking. In this study, we applied the model to analyze the efficiency of educational support by collecting data regarding student education support in general and vocational high school nationwide. The stepwise benchmarking method proposed that the target be selected for efficiency improvement step by step, taking into account inefficient school elements to complement the problem of the choice of benchmarking targets. Based on this study, it is expected that schools with low efficiency of educational support for students will be used as basic data for stepwise benchmarking for efficient operation of educational support for students.
This study examined the effects of a tablet PC-based music-making program on the executive function of adolescents with intellectual disabilities. Four adolescents with intellectual disabilities participated in this program. Each participant received 45-minute individual sessions twice a week for a total of 16 sessions. The music-making program was designed in the sequence of planning; learning table PC operations; exploring musical elements; making rhythm, melody, and lyrics; composing loop sections; and presentation of the completed music. The Stroop test, Children's Color Trails Test, and Digit Span and Letter-Number sequencing tests were measured at pretest, midtest, and posttest in order to examine changes in executive function. The participants showed increased scores on all three tests. The participants' attention span also increased and their attempts to correct errors during tasks occurred more frequently at posttest. This study supports the effects of the technology-based program on the executive function of adolescents with intellectual disabilities and presents its expanded applicability for adolescents who show low cognitive function and limited motivation for cognitive engagement.
