  • The ability of frozen-thawed fetal skin was examined to generate viable cell lines for nuclear transfer. Fetal skin frozen at -20$-20^{\circ}C$, $-30^{\circ}C$ or $-80^{\circ}C$ in the presence of 5% DMSO used as tissue explants to generate somatic cells. The resultant confluent cells were then used as donors for nuclear transfer (NT). Of the bovine NT embryos reconstracted from the somatic cells, 62.3%, 76.6% to 65% showed cleavage 70.5%, 81.9% to 78.5% reached the stage of morula formation and 39.7%, 43.2% or 47.6% reached the blastocyst stage. There was no significant difference in development when the NT embryos were compared with those reconstracted from fresh somatic cell derieved skin tissues (72%, 75.3%, and 45.2%, for cleavage, and development to morula and blastocyst stage, respectively). NT embryos were then placed in a portable $CO_2$ incubator and carried to China from Japan by air. After reaching to farm, two NT embryos were transferred to each of 5 recipients. We obtained 2 NT calves which birth weights is 30kg and 36kg female, and gestation periods is 281 and 284 days, respectively. There were no observation any abnormality from those calves. The results indicated that cell lines derieved from bovine fetal skin cryopreserved by a simple method could be used as donors in nuclear transfer using the portable $CO_2$ incubator.

  • Almost all currently available retroviral vectors based on murine leukemia virus (MLV) contain one or more viral coding sequences. Because these sequences are also present in the packaging genome, it has been suggested that homologous recombination may occur between the same nucleotide sequence in the packaging genome and the vector, resulting in the production of replication competent retrovirus (RCR). Up until now, it has been difficult to completely remove viral coding sequences since some were thought to be involved in the optimum function of the retroviral vector. For example, the gag coding sequence present in almost all available retroviral vectors has been believed to be necessary for efficient viral packaging, while the pol coding sequence present in the highly efficient vector MFG has been thought to be involved in achieving the high levels of gene expression. However, we have now developed a series of retroviral vectors that are absent of any retroviral coding sequences but produce even higher levels of gene expression without compromising viral titer. In these vectors, the intron and exon sequences from heterologous cellular or viral genes are present. When compared to the well known MLV-based vectors, some of these newly developed vectors have been shown to produce significantly higher levels of gene expression for a longer period. In an experimental system that can maximize the production of RCR, our newly constructed vectors produced an absence of RCR. These vectors should prove to be safer than other currently available retroviral vectors containing one or more viral coding sequences.

  • This research was performed for developing of biological treatment process of odor gas such as MEK, $H_{2}S$, and toluene, which is generated from the food waste recycling process. To establish the operational conditions of odor gas removal by small-scale biofiltration equipment, it was continuously operated by using toluene as a treating odor object. When the odor treating microorganisms were adhered to fibril form biofilter, high removal efficiency over 93% was obtained by biofilm formation. At 400 ppm of inlet odor gas concentration and 10 sec of retention time, the removal efficiency was 76% and 93% in 1st stage reactor and 2nd stage reactor, respectively. However, the removal efficiency remained over 97% at the operational conditions above 15 sec of retention time.

  • This paper was based on the answers of the BI(Business Incubating) managers who had been working in the business incubating field. The main purpose of this research was to figure out working conditions of those managers and to find out proper solutions. The result of the research was as follows. Overall economic rewards for those managers were relatively low level, job conditions for those managers were short-time contract-basis and those managers' ages were relatively young, 20s or 30s, and majority of the managers' working experience was usually less than 3years. Also some of the full-time managers were spending much of their working time in administration affairs rather than practical business incubating or business incubating consulting service. Therefore, the satisfaction level for their salary and working condition was quite unsatisfactory and they didn't have positive vision for their job and for their business consulting service. As a result to resolve those negative affects and to promote overall working for those BI managers, authorized certificates are necessary for those BI managers. Then they can specialize BI managing works and can improve their working conditions by blocking non -certified workers and can advance the quality of their consulting service.

  • Eoyukjang is a traditional Korean sauce made of cooked soypaste or meju supplemented with fish and meats at least 1 year of fermentation period. Eoyukjang was recovered according to the traditional method and stored under the ground in a pot without plastic packaging (13G: 13 month fermentation under the ground) or in an incubator wrapped with plastic packaging (6I, 12I, and 18I: 6, 12, and 18 month fermentation, respectively). Distribution of isoflavones and fatty acids were monitored by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography (GC), respectively. Total isoflavones in 13G, 6I, 12I, and 18I were 3.792, 0.387, 0.460, and $0.510{\mu}mol/g$, respectively. Samples of 13G had at least 8.24 times higher isoflavone contents than samples from 12I. Aglycones were the major isoflavones in eoyukjang and were found more than 92% in 13G and 39-63% in incubated samples. In fatty acid analysis, the ratios of unsaturated to saturated fatty acids from 13G were higher than those from 6I, 12I, and 18I. Traditional fermentation methods using a pot may allow more migration of air and moisture than samples wrapped with plastic packaging, which caused the difference in the distribution of isoflavones and fatty acids.

  • Korean government has invested about 400 million dollars to the business incubator using the facilities and human resources of universities and research institutes and successfully operated to contribute the economic development(1.6 billion dollars sales, 5,500 companies) and job creation(16,000 employee) in the end of 2013. Although incubators have grown rapidly, there is limited performance, like a hardware centered support, limited exploitation of resource in the university, less collaboration with the community, less star companies. This research provide a alternative capacity building direction based on the creativity and resource dependence theory. Specifically this paper suggest a building creative incubating center, traversing the valley of death, accelerator for the CPM(Capability, Product, Market) linkage, organic implementation of university resources.

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the pregnancy outcomes of in vitro fertilization with embryo transfer between embryos cultured in a time-lapse monitoring system (TLS) and those cultured in a conventional incubator (CI). Methods: The medical records of 250 fertilized embryos from 141 patients undergoing infertility treatment with assisted reproductive technology at a tertiary hospital from June 2018 to May 2020 were reviewed. The study population was divided into TLS and CI groups at a 1 to 1 ratio (125 embryos per group). The primary outcome was the live birth rate. Results: The TLS group had a significantly higher clinical pregnancy rate (46.4% vs. 27.2%, p=0.002), implantation rate (27.1% vs. 12.0%, p=0.004), and live birth rate (32.0% vs. 18.4%, p=0.013) than the CI group. Furthermore, subgroup analyses of the clinical pregnancy rate and live birth rate in the different age groups favored the TLS group. However, this difference only reached statistical significance in the live birth rate in women aged over 40 years and the clinical pregnancy rate in women aged 35-40 years (p=0.048 and p=0.031, respectively). The miscarriage rate, cleavage rate, and blastocyst rate were comparable. Conclusion: TLS application improved the live birth rate, implantation rate, and clinical pregnancy rate, particularly in the advanced age group in this study, while the other reproductive outcomes were comparable. Large randomized controlled trials are needed to further explore the ramifications of these findings, especially in different age groups.

  • The purpose of the study is to suggest ways to reduce the difference in occupancy rate and cost of incubation centers and surveyed 262 business disclosures of KBIA. the region, the subject of management, and the technology field are set as independent variables among the management disclosure items, and the occupancy rate, cost, and assigned grade are defined as dependent variables. As a result of the correlation analysis, it was found that about 19.4%($R^2=0.194$) and about 7.0%($R^2=0.059$) explain the cost of the operation, Respectively. finally Costs are high in metropolitan areas, public organizations and technology-intensive centers are inexpensive, occupancy rates are high in government and universities, and low in large cities. In order to resolve the gap, $5,720won/m^2$ is appropriate, and the center operates as a technology-intensive specialization center.
