TOF기반의 2D LADAR 센서 개발 및 1축 구동장치를 활용한 3D 정보 획득에 대한 연구 (Development of a TOF LADAR Sensor and A Study on 3D Infomation Acquisition using Single Axis Driving Device)

  • LADARs are used for important sensors in various applications, for example, terrain information sensors in self driving cars, safety sensors for factory automation, and 3D map constructions. This study develop important component technologies to improve the performance of a LADAR system under development in Korea. The component technologies include diode temperature regulation, reducing distance error in outdoor environment, and signal processing technique for better detection of distant objects. This paper explains the suggested component technologies and experimental results of the developed LADAR system. Also, the developed system is operated and tested an a single axis driving platform to acquire 3D information from 2D LADAR.

소셜네트워크사이트 사용자의 가치체계 연구 (Investigation of Users' Goals in Social Network Sites)

  • This study aims to develop a rich understanding of user goals in user-empowering information technologies which have been dominating part in the information systems environment. A particular focus is on users' goals in a social network site (SNS) which is a typical example of user-empowering technologies. Users conduct various activities in order to achieve diverse goals in SNS. Thus, investigating what goals users pursue in SNS will give insights into understanding the users. We employed the laddering interview technique and means-end chain approach. Interviews of 50 Facebook users were analyzed to produce a hierarchical goal map showing users' goal structure. The map contains 18 goals, including self-reflection, psychological stability, belongingness, improving productivity, and amusement as ultimate goals in SNS. In the map, there are varied routes from activities to ultimate goals in SNS; that is, a complex assembly consisting of activities and goals. The findings call the information systems research community to have more interests in diverse goals and values users seek with technologies.

  • Intelligent control technologies (fuzzy logic, neural network, chaos, and genetic algorithm) have been a great deal of influences and impact, especially in home appliances industry. As a result, products that utilize these technologies are pouring into the market from just about every companies. These products are getting good responses from the consumers, because they offer convenience and amenities through the intelligent self-control. In this article, the functionality of the intelligent control technologies will be explained, and how they are being applied to the consumer products developed in Samsung Electronics Co.

중소형 의료 환경에서 U-헬스케어 서비스 향상을 위한 전문가 시스템 기반 IT/의료 융합 솔루션 (An IT/Medical Converged Solution based on the Expert System for Enhancing U-Healthcare Services in Middle-sized Medical Environment)

  • 최근들어, U-헬스케어는 진료에 있어 인력 및 시간 등 많은 비용을 절감할 수 있는 연구로 주목받고 있다. 그러나, 센싱, 측정 등 헬스케어에 대한 기반 기술들은 충분히 연구된 반면, IT 기술이 의료 기술과 접목된 IT/의료 융합 기술은 아직 초기 단계에 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 이미 검증된 기술들과 전문가 시스템을 기반으로 개인 병원이나 가정 등의 중소형 의료 환경에 적용 가능한 U-헬스 케어 솔루션으로서의 헬스케어 시스템을 제안한다. 그 동안 IT 분야의 눈부신 발전으로 네트워크 및 데이터베이스 등 타 분야에 융합 가능한 IT 요소 기술들이 충분히 발전해 있고, 헬스케어의 경우 시간보다는 임무 수행이 중요한(Mission-Critical) 환경이므로, 새로운 기술 개발도 중요하지만 이미 검증된 기술들을 활용하는 것이 바람직하다. 제안된 솔루션은 전문가 시스템을 기반으로 체지방, 혈압, 그리고 혈당 등의 측정된 데이터를 이용해 자동화된 의료 서비스를 제공한다. 또한 의사와 간호사, 관계자등에게 편리한 진료 환경을 제공한다. 또한, 필요시 전문 지식이 없는 사람들도 자가 진단이 가능하므로 향 후 다양한 방면에서 의료 서비스 비용 절감이 기대된다. 특히, 각 장비들이 표준화된 블루투스 기술을 통해 통신하므로, 다양한 의료기기로 확장 가능한 솔루션이다. 이로부터, 우리는 전문가 시스템을 통한 비용 절감에 의해 U-헬스케어의 자가 측정 및 진단 서비스가 향상되었다고 말할 수 있다.

Self-Localization Algorithm for a Mobile Air Cleaner

  • The mobile air cleaner analyzes a distribution of polluted air to purify the air fast, calculates an optimal position and moves the position so that it can remove indoor dust more quickly. At this time, the self-localization is necessary to make the mobile air cleaner move accurately to the calculated position. This paper proposed a self-localization algorithm having high accuracy without complicated calculation and implemented it by combining a ultrasonic sensor and video processing technologies, so that it is suitable for a mobile air cleaner, and as a test result, the mean error of $\pm1cm$ appeared between the actually measured position and the calculated position.

  • Advanced countries in the aviation industry, especially the United States and European Union, develop and commercialize their own SBD system integrated with IT convergence technology, dominating the international market. Nevertheless, most of SBD technologies in domestic airports rely on other countries. It is imperative that internal airport operators introduce the Self Bag Drop system and produce, apply, and manage the most optimized SBD system for airports and airlines. Upon analyzing the tendency and operation of the SBD system utilized in leading international airports, this is conducted to address the possibility of the future implementation in domestic airports.

Effect of Authentic Leadership on Organizational Citizenship Behaviors through Mediating Roles of Followers' Self-awareness and Psychological Ownership

  • Purpose - This study empirically validates the theoretical argument of the effect of authentic leadership on organizational citizenship behavior, and the mediating roles of followers' self-awareness and psychological ownership between authentic leadership and followers' organizational citizenship behavior. Research design, data, and methodology - A total of 380 office workers in Korea were surveyed through on-line, and the result was analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis and structural equational modeling. Results - The authentic leadership was shown to be related positively to followers' self-awareness and psychological ownership, both of which were associated positively with their organizational citizenship behavior. The complete mediating effects of followers' self-awareness and psychological ownership were verified between authentic leadership and follower's organizational citizenship behavior. Conclusions - While followers' self-awareness was rarely studied in the authentic leadership study to date, it was found to play a role in the authentic leadership process into organizational outcome. It is argued that the followers' self-awareness as a mediating role between authentic leadership and organizational outcome seems to be more appropriate than the leader' s identification of previous thesis in explaining the authentic leadership effect.

A Study on the Implementation of RFID-based Autonomous Navigation System for Robotic Cellular Phone(RCP)

  • Industrial and economical importance of CP(Cellular Phone) is growing rapidly. Combined with IT technology, CP is currently one of the most attractive technologies for all. However, unless we find a breakthrough to the technology, its growth may slow down soon. RT(Robot Technology) is considered one of the most promising next generation technology. Unlike the industrial robot of the past, today's robots require advanced technologies, such as soft computing, human-friendly interface, interaction technique, speech recognition, object recognition, and many others. In this study, we present a new technological concept named RCP(Robotic Cellular Phone), which combines RT & CP, in the vision of opening a new direction to the advance of CP, IT, and RT all together. RCP consists of 3 sub-modules. They are $RCP^{Mobility}$, $RCP^{Interaction}$, and $RCP^{Interaction}$. $RCP^{Mobility}$ is the main focus of this paper. It is an autonomous navigation system that combines RT mobility with CP. Through $RCP^{Mobility}$, we should be able to provide CP with robotic functionalities such as auto-charging and real-world robotic entertainments. Eventually, CP may become a robotic pet to the human being. $RCP^{Mobility}$ consists of various controllers. Two of the main controllers are trajectory controller and self-localization controller. While Trajectory Controller is responsible for the wheel-based navigation of RCP, Self-Localization Controller provides localization information of the moving RCP. With the coordinate information acquired from RFID-based self-localization controller, Trajectory Controller refines RCP's movement to achieve better RCP navigations. In this paper, a prototype system we developed for $RCP^{Mobility}$ is presented. We describe overall structure of the system and provide experimental results of the RCP navigation.

A Study on the Automated Payment System for Artificial Intelligence-Based Product Recognition in the Age of Contactless Services

  • Contactless service is rapidly emerging as a new growth strategy due to consumers who are reluctant to the face-to-face situation in the global pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and various technologies are being developed to support the fast-growing contactless service market. In particular, the restaurant industry is one of the most desperate industrial fields requiring technologies for contactless service, and the representative technical case should be a kiosk, which has the advantage of reducing labor costs for the restaurant owners and provides psychological relaxation and satisfaction to the customer. In this paper, we propose a solution to the restaurant's store operation through the unmanned kiosk using a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) technology of image recognition. Especially, for the products that do not have barcodes in bakeries, fresh foods (fruits, vegetables, etc.), and autonomous restaurants on highways, which cause increased labor costs and many hassles, our proposed system should be very useful. The proposed system recognizes products without barcodes on the ground of image-based AI algorithm technology and makes automatic payments. To test the proposed system feasibility, we established an AI vision system using a commercial camera and conducted an image recognition test by training object detection AI models using donut images. The proposed system has a self-learning system with mismatched information in operation. The self-learning AI technology allows us to upgrade the recognition performance continuously. We proposed a fully automated payment system with AI vision technology and showed system feasibility by the performance test. The system realizes contactless service for self-checkout in the restaurant business area and improves the cost-saving in managing human resources.

적응적 형태학적 분석에 기초한 신호등 인식률 성능 개선 (Performance Improvement of Traffic Signal Lights Recognition Based on Adaptive Morphological Analysis)

  • 국내외적으로 무인자동차에 대한 연구와 개발이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 무인자동차를 성공적으로 구현하기 위해서는 매우 많은 요소 기술들을 필요로 한다. 특히 교통신호등의 검출과 인식 시스템은 무인자동차에서 컴퓨터 비전 기술의 핵심적인 요소기술로 주목 받고 있다. 최근까지 제안된 대부분의 교통 신호등 인식 방식들은 잡음과 환경적인 요소에 따라 의존적인 색깔 성분 분석 방법을 사용함으로써 인식률 개선에 있어 제한적인 성능 특성을 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 기존의 방식의 한계를 극복하기 위해 교통신호등이 갖는 형태학적인 특성을 최대한 고려한 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방식은 색깔 성분과 사각형 특성, 원형 특성과 같은 형태학적 특성을 동시에 고려함으로써 인식 효율을 크게 증대시킨다. 다양한 모의실험을 통하여 제안한 방식은 교통신호등 인식률뿐만 아니라 오인식률 성능을 크게 개선시킬 수 있음을 보인다.
