Nuclear Power Plants (NPP) are widely utilized around the globe from different base forms as it is one of the most dependable renewable resources that technological advancements have offered. However, different perceptions of the usage of NPPs emerged from different generations. The purpose of this study was to investigate the acceptance of nuclear energy as an alternative source of energy among Generation Z in the Philippines by utilizing an extended Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) approach. An online questionnaire which consisted of 31 items was distributed using a purposive sampling approach and 450 respondents of Generation Z voluntarily answered. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) showed that the knowledge regarding NPP had significant effects on risk perception and benefit perception which subsequently led to subjective norms. In addition, perceived behavioral control and subjective norms had significant effects on behavioral intention which led to nuclear acceptance. Interestingly, the respondents perceived the benefit of NPP as slightly higher than the perceived risk. With these, it was clear that the commissioning Nuclear Power Plant must consider as an alternative source of electric energy in the Philippines. Moreover, this study is one of the first studies that investigated the acceptance of NPP among Generation Z. Lastly, the model could be a basis to strengthen the acceptance strategy of opening NPP among Generation Z, particularly in developing countries.
Background: Despite considerable technological advancements, polyspermy remains a significant challenge in in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures in pigs, disrupting normal embryonic development. Here, we aimed to determine whether optimal fertilization conditions reduce the polyspermy incidence in pigs. Methods: In vitro-matured oocytes were co-incubated with sperm according to a modified two-step culture system. Results: In the first experiment, oocytes were briefly co-incubated with sperm, washed in IVF medium, and then moved to fresh IVF medium for 5 or 6 h. Although the 6 h sperm-free cultured group had a higher penetration rate than the 5 h cultured group, the polyspermy rate significantly increased in the 6 h sperm-free cultured group. The gamete co-incubation period was either 20 or 40 min. The 40 min cultured group had a higher rate of blastocyst formation and number of total cells in blastocysts than the 20 min cultured group. In experiment 2, oocytes were inseminated with sperm separated by Pecroll treatment. Percoll treatment increased the rate of oocyte penetration and blastocyst formation compared to the control. In experiment 3, fertilized oocytes were cultured in 25 µL microdroplets (10 gametes/drop) or 500 µL (100 gametes/well) of culture medium in 4-well plates. The large volume of medium significantly reduced the number of dead oocytes and increased the rate of blastocyst formation compared to the small volume. Conclusions: Collectively, these results demonstrate that various fertilization conditions, including modified co-culture period, active sperm separation, and culture medium volume, enhance fertilization efficiency and subsequent embryonic development by decreasing polyspermy occurrence.

This research investigates the deployment of waterproofing technologies in construction, with a specific focus on augmenting worker safety, work environment, and solve the difficulty of securing skilled workers. Implementing liquid waterproofing cement equipment resulted in a remarkable increase in adhesion performance by around 20%, coupled with a twofold acceleration in operational speed. The application of primer spraying apparatus led to a two-fold improvement in both penetration and adhesion performance, concurrently boosting the work speed by approximately the same factor. With urethane spraying equipment, the workload could be reduced to a third for the same layer thickness, adhesion performance enhanced by approximately 1.4 times, and workability improved by about 1.4 to 1.5 times. These findings suggest that such technological interventions can potentially enhance work efficiency, improve the quality of output, and mitigate safety accidents that are commonplace in manual operations. Furthermore, these advancements present promising solutions to the ongoing challenges of sourcing highly-competent workers in the industry.
Technological advancements in the field of information and communication have led to the advent and usage of various types of smart devices, which have significantly altered people's usage behaviors and environments. This change has also been applied to the learning environment, where various smart devices are appearing and the learning behavior of learners is changing accordingly. In this study, we investigate learners' perceptions of digital note-taking behaviors focusing on the recently emerged learning media, tablet PCs and digital pens. Drawing upon the expectancy-confirmation model, we conduct a study on the factors affecting the (dis)confirmation and (dis)satisfaction of undergraduate students with tablet PCs and digital pens by comparing their expectations with their actual use experiences. An open-ended survey was conducted among students at C University in Korea, and the responses were analyzed through qualitative content analysis to derive four factors of expectation-confirmation and satisfaction and three factors of expectation-disconfirmation and dissatisfaction. Based on these findings, we provide academic and educational implications.
Recently, fan out wafer level packaging, which enables high integration, miniaturization, and low cost, is being rapidly applied in the semiconductor industry. In particular, FOWLP is attracting attention in the mobile and Internet of Things fields, and is recognized as a core technology that will lead to technological advancements such as 5G, self-driving cars, and artificial intelligence in the future. However, as chip density and package size within the package increase, FOWLP warpage is emerging as a major problem. These problems have a direct impact on the reliability and electrical performance of semiconductor products, and in particular, cause defects such as vacuum leakage in the manufacturing process or lack of focus in the photolithography process, so technical demands for solving them are increasing. In this paper, warpage simulation according to the thickness of FOWLP material was performed using finite element analysis. The thickness range was based on the history of similar packages, and as a factor causing warpage, the curing temperature of the materials undergoing the curing process was applied and the difference in deformation due to the difference in thermal expansion coefficient between materials was used. At this time, the stacking order was reflected to reproduce warpage behavior similar to reality. After performing finite element analysis, the influence of each variable on causing warpage was defined, and based on this, it was confirmed that warpage was controlled as intended through design modifications.
The impact of technological advancements on employment is a matter of ongoing debate, with discussions on the effects of AI technology development on employment being particularly scarce. This study employs the natural language processing technique (SBERT) and patents to calculate an occupation-based AI exposure score and to analyze employment trends by group. It proposes a method for calculating the AI exposure score based on the similarity between Korean patent information and US job descriptions and linking SOC(U.S.) and KSCO(Korea). The analysis of domestic AI patent applications and regional employment data in the KOSIS Database since 2013 reveals a K-shaped polarization pattern in Korean employment trends among groups with above and below average levels of AI exposure.

In tandem with the advancements in the digital era, the significance of digital data has escalated, necessitating an increased focus on digital forensics investigations. However, the process of collecting and analyzing digital evidence faces significant challenges, such as the unidentifiability of damaged files due to issues like media corruption and anti-forensic techniques. Moreover, the technological limitations of existing tools hinder the recovery of damaged files, posing difficulties in the evidence collection process. This paper aims to propose solutions for the recovery of corrupted MS Office files commonly used in digital data creation. To achieve this, we analyze the structure of MS Office files in the OOXML format and present a novel approach to overcome the limitations of current recovery tools. Through these efforts, we aim to contribute to enhancing the quality of evidence collection in the field of digital forensics by efficiently recovering and identifying damaged data.
Due to technological advancements in viewing devices and the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of OTT-only content is being produced and distributed as people shift from traditional movie theater viewing and broadcasters' fixed TV viewing to free-form OTT viewing using wired and wireless internet. As a result, the ability to leverage data from OTT audiences has become critical to the competitiveness of the industry. However, third parties other than OTT content providers are facing difficulties in acquiring OTT viewer data. In this paper, as a way to overcome the shortcomings of existing viewer data acquisition, we propose a method to extract audio and video data by developing an OTT viewing data acquisition agent using Web APIs by adopting a web browser environment that does not affect the performance of OS and viewing devices, so that third-party companies that need viewing data can utilize it.

In recent years, climate change has been responsible for unusual weather patterns on a global scale. Droughts, natural disasters triggered by insufficient rainfall, can inflict significant social and economic consequences on the entire agricultural sector due to their widespread occurrence and the challenge in accurately predicting their onset. The frequency of drought occurrences in South Korea has been rapidly increasing since 2000, with notably severe droughts hitting regions such as Incheon, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Chungbuk, and Gyeongbuk in 2015, resulting in significant agricultural and social damage. To prepare for future drought occurrences resulting from climate change, it is essential to develop long-term drought predictions and implement corresponding measures for areas prone to drought. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report outlines a climate change scenario under the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs), which integrates projected future socio-economic changes and climate change mitigation efforts derived from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project 6 (CMIP6). SSPs encompass a range of factors including demographics, economic development, ecosystems, institutions, technological advancements, and policy frameworks. In this study, various drought indices were calculated using SSP scenarios derived from 18 CMIP6 global climate models. The SSP5-8.5 scenario was employed as the climate change scenario, and meteorological drought indices such as the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), Self-Calibrating Effective Drought Index (scEDI), and Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) were utilized to analyze the prediction and variability of future drought occurrences in South Korea.
