Analysis on ITU Requirements for Acquiring Space Location of Low Earth Orbit Satellite (지구저궤도위성의 우주공간 확보를 위한 ITU 요구사항 분석)

  • In order to operate Low Earth Orbit(LEO) satellite on space, technical requirements and administrative procedure which are defined by the International Telecommunication Union(ITU) should be followed on satellite development. Main technical requirements to follow are purpose of use, bandwidth, Radio Frequency(RF) intensity, and constraints on new satellite network about existing satellite networks according to frequency spectrum. Such ITU's requirements are reflected and designed on system specification and space to ground interface control document. In order to have a right and protection about using the satellite network on space, the satellite network has to be registered on Master International Frequency Register(MIFR) and procedure for this has to be followed. Coordination with countries raising objection is needed in order to register. And reference and method for coordination are also needed.

Technical Review of the Proposed Engines for SUAV (스마트무인기 후보엔진 기술검토)

  • For SUAV is required to have the capacity of VTOL and fast forward flight, the SUAV development program has decided to adopt the tiltrotor mechanism which includes helicopter and turboprop mechanisms. From the engine point of view, the key engine parameters such as engine operating mechanism, engine control scheme, the dynamics characteristic of power train, engine intake/exhaust concept, and engine installation requirements should fulfill the requirements of the two different mechanisms, helicopter and turboprop. And for the maximum efficiency of the rotor, rotational speed for the two modes are 20% different, the power train shall find a way to make it so. Meeting these specific requirements for the tiltrotor mechanism, this research begins with a conventional OTS(off-the-shelf) turboshaft engine survey and minimizes engine modification to develop an economical propulsion system. The engine technical review has been performed on the basis of those requirements and capabilities.

  • Compared with the Certification Requirements for Professional Engineer in other country, those of Korean are not satisfactory. This is due to a few facts such as no relation with accreditation of engineering education and no separation of technical field and engineering field. Eventually, this problem makes it impossible to ensure the international mobility of Korean professional engineers. This research reviews the international trends regarding the professional engineer certification requirements, compares the requirements of Korea and other countries, proposes three alternatives for improvement, and suggests two implementation plans for the alternatives.

  • Purpose One of the success factors of information system projects is to reduce requirements uncertainty through user engagement. So, in many recent IS development environment, a business analyst or business analysts are positioned between users and developers to drive user engagement to reduce requirements uncertainty. But, there are few studies that research about the competencies of business analysts for training and staffing. So, this study analyzed which underlying and practical competencies that positively influence user engagement are required. Design/methodology/approach The level of underlying and practical competencies required for business analysts and the level of user enagement in the IS development environment are collected through the survey. And, the causal relationship between the construct concepts which are underlying competencies, practical competencies and the user participation is analzed through the PLS analysis. Findings The results of this study show that the practial competencies of business analysts that positively have a significant impact on user engaement were studied as requirements development skills. Additionally, the underlying competencies of business analysts which have a significant impact on requirements development skills were examined as business knowledge and interaction skills rather than technical knowledge and communication skills.

  • With the advent of new convergence services, the requirements of 5G mobile communication systems are being newly derived. The 5G mobile communication system has been evolving to solve requirements that cannot be satisfied with existing 4G mobile communication systems, such as a high user experience transmission rate, short transmission delay, and high connection density. The evolution of a 5G mobile communication system to meet the new requirements is expected to be dominated by the UDN environment in which a number of small cells are concentrated. The 5G wireless backhaul system, which has advantages in terms of initial installation and operation cost, is expected to be an indispensable choice for connecting many small cells and core networks. This paper therefore looks at the frequency band characteristics and requirements applicable to 5G wireless backhaul systems that can accommodate new situations, and introduces key related technologies that can satisfy the 5G wireless backhaul requirements.. In addition, we describe the research and development trends of a 5G wireless backhaul system that is currently under development.

  • The acceptance of smartphone applications in the learning field is one of the most significant challenges for higher education institutions in Saudi Arabia. These institutions serve large and varied sectors of society and have a tremendous impact on the knowledge gained by student segments at various ages. M-learning is of great importance because it provides access to learning through a wide range of mobile networks and allows students to learn at any time and in any place. There is a lack of quality requirements for M-learning applications in Saudi societies partly because of mandates for high levels of privacy and gender segregation in education (Garg, 2013; Sarrab et al., 2014). According to the Saudi Arabian education ministry policy, gender segregation in education reflects the country's religious and traditional values (Ministry of Education, 2013, No. 155). The opportunity of many applications would help the Saudi target audience more easily accept M-learning applications and expand their knowledge while maintaining government policy related to religious values and gender segregation in the educational environment. In addition, students can share information through the online framework without breaking religious restrictions. This study uses a quantitative perspective to focus on defining the technical aspects and learning requirements for distributing knowledge among students within the digital environment. Additionally, the framework of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) is used to modify new constructs, called application quality requirements, that consist of quality requirements for systems, information, and interfaces.

  • Education and training of technical staff for the new generation technological equipment has a vital importance for developing countries in order to maintain sustainable development and keep up with new generation technologies. Mechatronics the synergistic combination of mechanical, electronic and software engineering from an engineering perspective to serve the purposes of controlling advanced hybrid systems is a product of new generation technology which can be given as a sample to this phenomenon. Recent marine engines are combination of heavy industry with high technology. Nowadays, ships are built in full automation and equipped with computer controlled mechatronics systems. However, finding qualified officer and engineers who can operate, maintain, control and repair when it is required such full automatic systems with knowledge of a new generation system became a serious issue. Due to importance of this fact STCW Manila amendment has new training and certification requirements for electro-technical officers. In this paper, Mechatronics applications on ship are introduced, importance of it highlighted and a new syllabus is proposed for the training of marine engineers to be nurtured with mechatronics knowledge as it is required.

The computational characteristics of thrust and propellant mixture ratio regulators for LRE using a propellant combination of methane and oxygen

  • A project where the TPUs(Turbo Pump Units) for 10tf-thrust oxygen/methane LRE (Liquid Rocket Engine) are under development is being implemented to include an experimental combustion chamber developed. In the process of it, we introduced the power-balanced engine cycles in order to substantiate concepts of the engine using the combinations of the propellants. Accordingly, the main engine parameters of nominal operating mode are resulted from the 1-Dcalculations and it is found that the regulators are needed for controlling the expected pressure levels in the characteristics of propellant mixture ratio and thrust supposing the regulator is set to analogue-typed one which is easy to develop.The technical requirements like the nominal flow rate, its deviations expected and the pressure difference In need helped the several main characteristics of regulators to be determine in this stage. Here, a dozen of deviation values in the main parameters related to engineoperation are taken into independent consideration and accepted to the results for additional regimes of the regulators.Finally, we can determine the scheme and the primary dimensions along with the calculation design of the spring acceptable for general configuration which can definitely forwarded to the autonomous tests of the aggregates, The obtained data in further will be used for successive refinement of operating mode of the engine.

  • This paper presents a requirement development process using the model based systems engineering design process to the developments of the missile Seeker. SysML Model and requirement analysis templates were used as the specific execution method for applying the system engineering process. This paper will present a process for deriving the technical requirements and derived requirements using them.

  • System requirements (SRs), which describe the technical attributes to be satisfied by a desired system, serve as a fundamental guideline for system development. Standard methods and processes to define SRs are suggested in systems engineering literature. But in practice, we encounter many difficulties in defining and managing SRs since there are few experiences on development of complex systems in accordance with systems engineering processes of development. In this paper, to expanding SRs management experiences in a working-level, we reviewed problems occured in SRs defining process in 'Urban MAGLEV Train Project', and analyzed our activities to adjust and solve the problems.
