  • Most of the known RFID applications are derived from RFID technology and its functionalities not business analysis or requirements, so that companies may not obtain real competitive edges by implementing RFID application systems. Developing successful RFID applications is one of the key elements for prevailing RFID use by industries. Research objective is to propose an effective methodology for developing RFID applications based on analyzing business processes. The approach is designed to figure out both technical and business requirements related to RFID applications based on BPR (Business process reengineering) and ISP (Information strategy planning) methodologies. To verify the effectiveness of our approach, we applied the proposed approach to real field cases. As RFID technologies get flourished, the proposed approach is expected to play a meaningful role as an effective tool for developing new RFID applications.

  • Systems engineering test and evaluation technology development program for (Korea) Express Tilting Train(TTX) system in progress is a national large system development program that is not only a large-size and complex but also muti-disciplinary in nature. For the TTX test and evaluation technology development, verification requirements that could verify system function and performance, should be derived from system specification. Hereafter, this could be listed as items of test. System engineering process establishes traceability between items of test and system requirements. These tasks could be accomplished by the schema. Using the Core, a system engineering tool, TTX program could be database and oter system related to TTX program will be developed effectively and efficiency.

  • Dynamic changes of the recent business environment draw more attention to Business Process Management (BPM). In this research, we derive a comprehensive BPM framework, define the functional and technical requirements, and classify the requirements into the framework. Based on the framework we suggest a standard procedure for BPM planning and implementation along with critical considerations. In addition, we propose an evaluation framework, which includes a comprehensive checklist and the evaluation method. The proposed evaluation framework can be used as an evaluator's useful reference.

  • All the systems can be used properly for the original purpose when they can make the functions required for the users be concrete. Especially in the case that many technical systems are integrated like railroad systems, physically useful systems could be built if requirements analyses applying systems engineering and the process of functional design had to be supported. This paper is intended to review and present the measures and procedures to correctly supply the systems to users by giving systems manufactures and suppliers requirements in order to supply safe systems using safety analysis techniques named FHA(Functional Hazard Analysis) and Hazop Study.

  • A comprehensive understanding of functions and performances enables a selection of appropriate alternatives to the existing design and can prevent defective design. A performance-based design quality management can ensure successful project completion. This study proposes a new model for design quality management in order to prevent defective design and to minimize design change. The new quality management model defines the requirement about function and performance based on technical characteristic, and assesses suitability for design alternatives. This study attempts to propose a quality matrix assessment method that can compare the alternative design and requirements defined with the new quality management model. This method can judge conformity and suitability of design quality in accordance with the requirements configured.

  • Evoked potentials (EPs) measures the electrophysiologic responses of the nervous system to variety of stimuli. In clinical practice, only a few are used on a routine basis. Because of the small amplitude of EPs recorded by noninvasive methods, computer summation or averaging generally is necessary to resolve them from background noise. Therefore, waveform acquisition under good condition according to standard method is important. We aimed to provide the standards for clinical EP equipment, technical consideration and minimal requirements for obtaining good clinical EP waveforms, and general criteria for writing EP reports in practice as Korean guidelines.

  • The paper intends to summarize some guidelines for future smart structure system application in military aircraft. This preview of system integration is based upon a review on approximately one and a half decades of application oriented aerospace related smart structures research. Achievements in the area of structural health monitoring, adaptive shape, adaptive load bearing devices and active vibration control have been reached, potentials have been identified, several feasibility studies have been performed and some smart technologies have been already implemented. However the realization of anticipated visions and previously initial timescales announced have been rather too optimistic. The current development shall be based on a more realistic basis including more emphasis on fundamental aircraft strength, stiffness, static and dynamic load and stability requirements of aircraft and interdisciplinary integration requirements and improvements of integrated actors, actuator systems and control systems including micro controllers.

  • Recently, there are many corporations, schools and institutes that apply TRIZ to solve technical problems. However, in reality, only a few cases of brainstorming applications exist in utilizing forty principles of TRIZ due to the difficulty at TRIZ problem definition. In order to facilitate TRIZ applications, this study proposes the utilization of requirement definition and description tool of systems engineering in TRIZ problem definition. No requirement definition exists in general problem types that TRIZ approach is used in implementing system solution. At most of problem situations, TRIZ users reversely infer that certain problem belongs to which requirement definition it is and recommends TRIZ tools to be used for the exact problem definition. This study also proposes TRIZ problem definition method by applying the results of requirement definition process. The application of TRIZ is demonstrated to the general situation with no problem definition where the proposed method enables the proper use of TRIZ.
