  • Microprocessor is widely used in various industries. So it is very important to learn about it. But it is very difficult because students must know about both hardware and software of it. Student usually learn about it with a complete educational product in many technical high school. It make them to have no chance to mixed various electronic parts such as sensors, motors and so on. It cause them to low the creative product making ability. So we adjust new course with the arduino instead of the complete educational product to microprocessor education. It help student to high the electronic part mixing ability and the creative electronic product making ability.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a instructive strategy model of cooperative learning for practical class in technical high school. To achieve this purpose, this study has conducted related literature investigation and interviewed with professionals for reconstruction of practice contents. As a result, 15 steps instructional strategy model of cooperative learning was designed and this model based on traditional 4 steps model, Jigsaw and STAD model which have been verified as effect. To complete the final project, all the team members must cooperate themselves and tutor their peers with learning guides which are constructed as a modular system. This instructional strategy model which is correlated with modular instruction, peer tutoring and cooperative learning is expected to enhance students' school work of psychomotor domain as well as cognitive domain and affective domain.

A Study on the Effect of the Middle School Students` Residental Environment on their Personality (중학생의 주거환경이 인성특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study researched the interrelation between the development of the middle school student\` personality and their residential environments on 406 middle school students. The purpose of this research were to suggest a better residential environment as a desirable educational condition for making juveniles\` sound self-realization. The results of this research were as follows. 1. According to the their parents\` social status on middle school students\` personality the students. especially their parents had a service and technical expert official job of a better academic career showed an excellent score in personality. 2. According to the relation between the residential environment on their personality. it was said that the students. (1) who had their own study room at their own house. (2) who had a better house equipment and relatively a safety from fire danger. (3) who were living at the house which had been equipped a ventilation and sound isolation. were higher in the Personality score than any other groups. 3. According to the neighborhood and their personality the students who were living in some comfortable environments such as the divided collect of trash and the neighborhood natural surroundings skewed a high score in personality.

  • With decreasing the number of high school graduates, it is vital for each college to maintain its enrollment number as well as to preserve its dropout rate in a lower level. It is true that all universities and colleges have experienced inevitable dropouts that were in fact more serious in 2 to 3-year colleges. There have been prior studies to examine what factors affected to students' dropout in various ways. However, no specific programs were employed to mitigate the rates of dropout. In this study, new encouraging program is introduced for the students who were not ready to study and isolated from classroom. The result showed that the program led to the GPA enhancement in larger number of participants. Nevertheless, the sustainablity of the program would be unclear unless it combines with other existing programs.

  • The improvement of abilities of utilizing information as well as information education is coming to the fore as a really significant matter to students living in knowledge and information-oriented society of the 21st century. In this respect, this study aims to develop teaching and learning model for technical high school students who need more desire and comprehensive faculty of their learning and to testify its efficiency by relating their abilities of using In to their curriculum. In addition, this study attempts to investigate how to improve their academic results and achievements by case as well as to enhance their academic interests by helping then perform continuously their learning activities on the development of the model for teaching and learning in technical high school curriculum.

A Study of Apparel Purchase Behaviors for High School Girls as determined by Attitudes toward Fashion (유행 태도에 따른 여고생의 의복구매행동에 관한 연구)

  • Apparel purchase behaviors were investigated for the high school girls grouped by attitude toward fashion. Differences in attitudes toward fashion were also investigated among the groups determined by demographic characteristics. Data were collected by a self-administered questionnaire survey to 600 high school girls living in Seoul, and 480 were used for the data analysis. Cluster analysis, Chi-sguare analysis, ANOVA, and Duncan\`s multiple range test were used for data analysis. Technical school students and those who spending higher amount of monthly allowances showed favorable attitudes toward fashion. Based on the attitudes toward fashion, respondents were classified into 3 groups : fashion-oriented(32.3%), fashion-conformed(47.3%), and unconcerned(20.4%). Among the 3 groups, the Fashion-oriented tended to make purchase decision for clothing based on there own, or peer\`s opinions, to use personal sources for information search, to spend more money for clothing, and to consider design and brand names as the most important criteria when purchasing apparel products than the less fashion-oriented did. Among clothing styles popular to students, the most appropriately perceived for student wear were semi-formal style, and the least appropriate ones were wearing bold colored and patterned underwear for the purpose of showing out. Most of the popular styles among high school girls were perceived less than appropriate student\`s attire.

Food Behaviors , Nutrient Intake , Clinical Symptoms and Hematological Findings by Smoking Status among Male High School Students (흡연여부에 따른 남자 고등학생의 식행동 , 영양소 섭취 , 임상 증세 및 혈액성상의 차이)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare food behaviors, nutrient intake, clinical symptoms, and hematological findings by smoking status. Among the third grade male students from a high school in Jinchun-kun, 31 smokers and 31 nonsmokers participated in this study. A self-administered questionnaire was used to investigate food behaviors and clinical symptoms. Nutrient intake data were collected by 24-hour recall method. Blood sample was drawn from each subject to determine the levels of hemoglobin, protein, triglyceride, cholesterol, etc. The major findings were as follows; First, smokers consumed every food group except fat & oil less frequently than nonsmokers, while they consumed instant food, coffee, alcoholic beverages more frequently than nonsmokers. Dietary habits of smokers such as regularity, balanced diet, skipping meals were worse than those of non-smokers. Second, intakes of energy, fat, carbohydrate, and β-carotene of smokers were lower than those of non-smokers. Third, smokers felt fatigue and other adverse symptoms more often than non-smokers. Fourth, the levels of hemoglobin, albumin and HDL-cholesterol were significantly lower in smokers than non-smokers. Fifth, Smoking history was negatively correlated with food behaviors, energy intake and clinical symptoms. These results suggest that food behaviors, nutrient intakes, hematological findings and clinical symptoms of male high school students were affected by smoking. Therefore, in order to decrease smoking rate of the students, the effect of smoking on nutritional and health status should be informed and nutrition education should be offered to the students.

Development and Evaluation of a Web-based Education Program on Appropriate Antibiotic Use in Korean Adolescents (청소년의 올바른 항생제 사용을 위한 웹 기반 교육프로그램 개발 및 평가)

  • Purpose: This study was done to develop a web-based education program on appropriate antibiotic use and test the effects of the program on knowledge and attitudes towards antibiotic use in Korean adolescents. Methods: The web-based education program was developed through an extensive literature review and professional advisory meetings including technical assistance from a web-based education programmer and content experts. A convenience sample of 851 students from middle and high schools participated in the assessment of effects of the program. Knowledge and attitudes of the students towards antibiotic use and satisfaction with the web-based education program were measured. Descriptive statistics and paired t-test were used to analyze the data. Results: There were significant improvements in knowledge and attitudes towards antibiotic use following self-learning via the web-based education program in both middle and high school students. High school students demonstrated higher scores in knowledge and attitudes than middle school students. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that this web-based education program on appropriate antibiotic use is a convenient and effective medium for self-learning in adolescents. Therefore the web-based program should be put into wide use as an effective and convenient teaching method for health education in secondary schools.

Development of Educational Program for Rocket Science for High School Students (로켓 추진 원리를 이용한 고등학생 대상 과학교육프로그램 개발)

  • This paper aims to design an educational science program based on rocket propulsion for high school students. Curriculum in high school physics and chemistry were evaluated to find out scientific match with basic principles in rocket propulsion. Also model rocketry was implemented as a part of the educational program. Solid propellants were prepared by the combination of sorbitol and candy after a selection process for solid propellant from several high caloric food candidates. Specially, this program was intended to give an opportunity to organize basic knowledge of high school science with model rocketry by measuring combustion temperature, thrust level of developed propellants. A pilot operation of the program was done with four high school students to evaluate the achievement of final goals of the program both in technical and educational aspect.

Prevalence of Drug Abuse and Smoking and Dietary Behavior of Male Students at Technical High School

  • To investigate the relationship between eating behavior and the prevalence of adolescents drug abuse and smoking, this survey was conducted among 349 male students(mean age ; 16.0 $\pm$0.9yrs) at technical high schools in Kyunggi-Do. It was shown that 58.7% of total subjects were smoking and 11.2% were abusing drugs. Drug abusers weighed Less than non-abusers especially, student smokers were 2.7kg lighter than non-smokers despite the same height. Although parents' education showed no relationship with drug abuse, educational level of student smokers' fathers was significantly lower than that of non-smokers' fathers. Drug abusers and smokers showed significantly higher incidence of runaway from home, absence from school without notice, and parents' divorce than non-abusers and non-smokers. Drugs abused were sleeping pills(n=20), bonds and butane gas(n=9), marijuana(n=3), tranquilizer(n=3), morphine and cocaine(n=2), and pep pills like amphetamine(n=2) 76.9% of the drug abusers had their first experience in junior high school and 81% of the smokers stared smoking as early as in junior high school. Also, 44% of the smokers reported that they smoke daily. The drug abusers tended to have more irregular eating habits than the non-abusers. The smokers showed irregular mealtime, ate either too fast or too slow, and especially, often skipped lunch or dinner. The drug abusers and smokers took little vegetable in their meals and often ate bread or noodles instead of rice for staples. In addition, they preferred taste to nutrition when they had meals. The smokers tended to ingest smaller amount of calcium source such as milk or dinner food and fish with bone although they consume more volume of total foods than the non-smokers. All subjects took less in calorie, calcium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin E, riboflavin, and folic acid than the Recommended Dietary Allowance Those findings suggest that drug abuse and smoking cause bad eating habits that influence unbalanced nutritional state. Therefore, nutrition education should be provided to the adolescents so that they can recognize the disadvantages of drug and smoking and its relation to dietary relation.
