Purpose This study attempted to predict corporate innovation and business performance using ensemble learning. Design/methodology/approach The ensemble techniques uses weak learning to create robust learning, which combines several weak models to derive improved performance. In this study, XGboost, LightGBM, and Catboost were used among ensemble techniques. It was compared and evaluated with traditional machine learning methods. Findings The summary of the research results is as follows. First, the type of innovation is expanding from technical innovation to non-technical areas. Second, it was confirmed that LightGBM performed best for radical innovation prediction, and XGboost performed best for incremental innovation prediction. Third, Catboost performed best for firm performance prediction. Although there was no significant difference in predictive power between ensemble techniques, we found that comparative analysis was necessary to confirm better prediction performance.

In this research, the world top steel companies' technical changes were measured by the nonparametric Malmquist index. Steel industry's production frontier which was composed of multiple inputs and multiple outputs was defined by using real data of the companies from 1986 to 1998, and then the variability of technical progress(or regress) was analyzed during that period. The dynamics of individual steel companies\` technical changes, periodical technical changes, and each country's technical chanties were explained. A matrix which was based on technical chanties, technical efficiency changes, and scale efficiency changes was designed to assist to find out current position and In build up future strategies. This research results will be an valuable input to the early stage of formulating competitive strategy because the technical core capability is an important source of the each companies's competitiveness.

The evolution of EDI has opened the flexible and efficient way for business to conduct a greater portion of the routine buyer-seller business activities online. This study focuses on the role of factors that change the innovation characteristics for implementation success of EDI. Three factors promotional efforts, proactive implementation strategy, and provision of technical expertise are proposed to affect EDI implementation success, as these factors directly influence three general and most important attributes of innovation relative advantage, compatibility, and complexity respectively. Hypotheses indicate that promotional efforts, proactive implementation strategy, and provision of technical expertise directly affect EDI implementation success that is represented by three variables volume, depth, and diversity. A structural equation modeling approach(LISREL) is used to analyze data from EDI adopters. The results show that proactive implementation strategy and provision of technical expertise positively affect implementation success of EDI. Given the significant impact of the wide spread use of the EDI system, this study offers quite useful insights on the factors facilitating innovation characteristics under which EDI can be successfully diffused in organizations.

This study was aimed at analyzing the structural relationship among such factors as industrial environment, technological cooperation, technological innovation performance and management performance that are essential to technological innovation of small and medium-sized companies. For this aim, an analysis was conducted to determine which of the factors in industrial environment has impact on technological cooperation of small and medium-sized companies. An empirical analysis was also performance to find what kind of effects the technological cooperation may have on technological innovation and management performance. From the analyses, it became known that: first, changes in industrial environment have influence on technical cooperation factors including production technology, technical information, technical manpower and fund for technology that are assorted by means of factorial analysis; second, the technological cooperation of small and medium-sized companies has impact on their technological innovation performance; and third, the technological cooperation of small and medium-sized companies has impact on management performance.

As results of not selecting and using farm well pump properly , it's running regime is far away from high efficient zone and running efficiency of farm well pump is lower. The paper analyses unhealthy tendencies of technical state of diving-electric pump, deep well and centrifugal pump which are commonly used in our country. The paper also summarizes several technical innovation plans to raise efficiency : stage change plan, diameter change plan, speed change plan and synthetic technical innovation . Each plan gives a detailed introduction of designing and construction manners, through practical measuring , the synthetic efficiency of innovated well pumps raise above 30 percent. Economic benefit is evident.

The purpose of this study is to present that the entrepreneurial orientation affects to management performance in the small manufacturer. In order to carry out this research, we obtained 171 survey sheets and inspected seven assumptions based on the reliability, validity of the questionnaires. The results of regression analysis are summarized as follows; First, the factor of entrepreneurial orientation, innovative-ness, influences on the technical innovation performance and financial performance significantly. Second, the element of entrepreneurial orientation, proactive-ness, has an important effect on the technical innovation performance and financial performance. Finally, the requisite of entrepreneurial orientation, risk taking, affects to the technical innovation performance significantly, but not the financial performance. Based on the results, the companies that achieve the technical innovation and financial performance have an atmosphere to encourage to perform the research and development works and find out innovative ideas and improvement points in processes. However, the entrepreneur is required to take careful judgement for determining the uncertain circumstance.

This study empirically examines the relationship between the career orientations of R&D professionals and their demographic characteristics (age, tenure, and education level), affiliated organizations (public and private organizations), reward systems. It further explores the contingent effects of the career orientation fit between leader and members on their performance. The results reveal that : 1) five different career orientations (technical, manager, project, technical transfer, and entrepreneur) are empirically distinguished, 2) technical orientation of R&D professionals is higher in public in private sectors, 3) technical, project, and manager orientation are positively associated with the education level, while technical transfer and entrepreneur orientation are negatively associated with the education level, 4) manager and technical transfer orientation is positively related with age and tenure, 5) the career orientation fit between leader and member is closely related with job satisfaction and organization commitment, and partially related with technical performance, 6) R&D professionals with different types of career orientation exhibit different preference to various rewards. Based on these findings, this study suggests several practical implications for the design of career ladder, mentoring, and reward systems of R&D professionals.

This study's purpose is to promote the development of CT industry by analizing the causal relationship between technology factor and commercialization of Tech. in CT SMEs and Ventures. The result is that Only technology experience accumulation among technical factors(technology develpoment cost, technology experience accumulation, technology concentration, technical expertise) has a significant effect on commercialization success or failure and non-technical factors have not a significant effect on.

Using the service innovation system model, the development of Korean online game industry is analyzed. The model proposed by Gallouj (2002) is modified in order to reflect IT service characteristics such as network externalities. Success factors and innovations patterns of Korean online game industry are examined. First, at the early stage of her growth, Korean online game industry was not supported or coordinated by any Government policies unlike DRAM, CDMA or TFT-LCD. Many parts of technical and service innovations were unintentionally initiated by online game developing ventures without predeterminde strategies. Second, the online game industry is basically a service industry so that users' needs and technical and service characteristics are intertwined to produce innovation. The innovation system of the online game industry is quite different from conventional product technological innovation systems in a sense that there are no blueprints for innovation as well as major players in the system. Third, Government's policies for promotion of IT industry such as the broadband infrastructure installation policy, the hi-tech venture promotion policy and the military exemption policy contributed greatly to development of the online game industry. However, these policy tools were not intended for online game industry but in the end gave a great impact on the service innovation system of the online game industry.
