The Effects of Team-Based Learning(TBL) for Edutainment Activation in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 에듀테인먼트 활성화를 위한 팀기반학습(TBL) 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of team-based learning(TBL) program on problem solving ability, self-directed learning and learning motivation of nursing students in a adult nursing course. Methods: This study was quasi-experimental study by using nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Participants were 132 nursing students consisting of each experiment group 66 and control group 66. The experiment group was provided TBL program for 2 hours per session during 6 sessions and control group was provided lecture. Data were collected by questionnaires from April 20 to June 19, 2018. Data was analyzed by a chi-square test, t-test and ANCOVA using IBM SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The mean scores of problem solving ability(F=9.179, p=.003), self-directed learning(F=7.447, p=.007) and learning motivation(F=7.974, p=.006) were significantly higher in experiment group than those in control group. Conclusion: TBL program in a adult nursing course was effective in problem solving ability, self-directed learning and learning motivation of nursing students.

Deep Learning-based Material Object Recognition Research for Steel Heat Treatment Parts (딥러닝 기반 객체 인식을 통한 철계 열처리 부품의 인지에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, a model for automatically recognizing several steel parts through a camera before charging materials was developed under the assumption that the temperature distribution in the pre-air atmosphere was known. For model development, datasets were collected in random environments and factories. In this study, the YOLO-v5 model, which is a YOLO model with strengths in real-time detection in the field of object detection, was used, and the disadvantages of taking a lot of time to collect images and learning models was solved through the transfer learning methods. The performance evaluation results of the derived model showed excellent performance of 0.927 based on mAP 0.5. The derived model will be applied to the model development study, which uses the model to accurately recognize the material and then match it with the temperature distribution in the atmosphere to determine whether the material layout is suitable before charging materials.

Kaizen within Kaizen Teams: Continuous and Process Improvements in a Spanish municipality

  • A Purpose. As organizations become more team oriented, research on teams continues to increase especially involving how teams contribute to organizational performance and effectiveness. Although there has been existing research on Kaizen teams in the private sector, very little research has included Kaizen teams in the public sector. In this paper, we present a method to study Kaizen teams in a local Spanish government that have been using Kaizen teams for more than ten years. Design/methodology/approach. Quantitative research was adopted for this study. Twenty teams participated in the study by filling out the Team Learning and Development Inventory (TLI) proposed by Lingham (2004). In addition, we interviewed members of the teams in order to clarify and assure our quantitative results. Findings Based on the findings, we propose that Kaizen teams should practice both Continuous (CI) and Process Improvements (PI) in their projects. We also propose that Kaizen teams should not be teams skilled only at developing better improvement processes (both CI and PI) for the organization but that such teams should also be skilled at engaging in team development using both CI and PI processes internally-a Kaizen within Kaizen teams approach. Research limitations. Its based in one case study. However, it is working paper and the research project still is developing. Practical Implications (if possible). Serve as a guide to practitioners (Public managers) who desire to understand how their Kaizen teams involves both internal (conversational spaces) and external (methodology) perspectives that would contribute to both team and organizational effectiveness. In this paper, we focus on the Internal Processes (both CI and PI) using the TLI as an effective method for Kaizen teams to engage in the Kaizen process. Originality/value. This study is one of the first to look at team's performance using Team Learning and Development Inventory in Spain's public sector. It is also the first to mention about the relationship of the team's performance and the implementation of process improvement methodologies in Spain local government environment.

A Comparative Analysis of Students' Evaluations of Online and Offline Capstone Design Course

  • The College of engineering's capstone design is student-team-centred learning based on project-based learning and is one of the most important courses for students aiming to be competent professional engineers capable of solving real industrial problems. Therefore, in order to resolve the capstone problems, various face-to-face contacts such as frequent industrial site visits, multiple meetings with diverse people including team members, and repeated contacts with course-supervising and team-advising professors are prerequisite processes. However, according to the transition to fully online education due to the global pandemic of COVID-19, capstone design courses for 2020 and 2021 were also conducted online. Based on the modified students' evaluations of educational quality (SEEQ) with 3 perspectives such as curriculum, teaching-staff and students themselves, this study compares their evaluations of offline capstone designs from 2013 to 2019 and online capstone designs in 2020 and 2021 in the context of COVID-19. In 3 perspectives, the difference in students' evaluation of the online capstone between the beginning and the end of the course shows a positive effect, which is better than the offline capstone. Also, in various dimensions for each perspective, the online capstone shows a better evaluation than the offline capstone. These findings suggest that the online capstone design curriculum can be expected to have educational effects as well as students' satisfaction with the online curriculum in the future.

The effects of team-based learning on nursing students' learning performance with a focus on high-risk pregnancy in Korea: a quasi-experimental study

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of team-based learning (TBL) on nursing students' communication ability, problem-solving ability, self-directed learning, and nursing knowledge related to high-risk pregnancy nursing. Methods: This quasi-experimental study used a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The participants were 91 nursing students allocated to an experimental group (n=45) and a control group (n=46). The experimental group received TBL lectures three times over the course of 3 weeks (100 minutes weekly) and the control group received instructor-centered lectures three times over the course of 3 weeks (100 minutes weekly). Data were collected by questionnaires from September to November, 2019. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test, paired t-test, and independent t-test. Results: After the intervention, the mean scores of problem-solving ability (t=-2.59, p=.011), self-directed learning (t=4.30, p<.001), and nursing knowledge (t=3.18, p=.002) were significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group. No significant difference in communication ability was found between the experimental and control group (t=1.38, p=.171) Conclusion: The TBL program was effective for improving nursing students' problem-solving ability, self-directed learning, and nursing knowledge. Thus, TBL can be considered an effective teaching and learning method that can improve the learning outcomes of high-risk pregnancy nursing in women's health nursing classes. The findings suggest that TBL will be helpful for future nursing students to develop the nursing expertise necessary for providing nursing care to high-risk pregnant women.

A Study on Effective Team Learning Support in Non-Face-To-Face Convergence Subjects (비대면 수업 융합교과의 효과적인 팀학습 지원에 관한 연구)

  • In a future society where cutting-edge science technology such as artificial intelligence becomes commonplace, the demand for talented people with basic knowledge of mathematics and science is expected to increase continuously, and the educational infrastructure suitable for the characteristics of future generations is still insufficient. In particular, in the case of students taking convergence courses including practical training, there was a problem in communication with the instructor. In this study, we looked at the current status of distance learning at domestic universities that came suddenly due to the global pandemic of COVID-19. In addition, a case study of the use of technology was conducted to facilitate the interaction between instructors and learners through case analysis of distance classes in convergence subjects. Therefore, this study aims to introduce the case of developing lecture contents for smooth convergence education in a non-face-to-face educational environment targeting the developed AI convergence courses and applying them to the education of enrolled students.

Win-Loss Prediction Using AOS Game User Data

  • E-sports, a burgeoning facet of modern sports culture, has achieved global prominence. Particularly, Aeon of Strife (AOS) games, emblematic of E-sports, blend individual player prowess with team dynamics to significantly influence outcomes. This study aggregates and analyzes real user gameplay data using statistical techniques. Furthermore, it develops and tests win-loss prediction models through machine learning, leveraging a substantial dataset of 1,149,950 individual data points and 230,234 team data points. These models, employing five machine learning algorithms, demonstrate an average accuracy of 80% for individual and 95% for team predictions. The findings not only provide insights beneficial to game developers for enhancing game operations but also offer strategic guidance to general users. Notably, the team-based model outperformed the individual-based model, suggesting its superior predictive capability.

  • With the advent of deep learning and the rapid development of ICT (Information and Communication Technology), research using artificial intelligence is being actively conducted in various fields of society such as politics, economy, and culture and so on. Deep learning-based artificial intelligence technology is subdivided into various domains such as natural language processing, image processing, speech processing, and recommendation system. In particular, as the industry is advanced, the need for a recommendation system that analyzes market trends and individual characteristics and recommends them to consumers is increasingly required. In line with these technological developments, this paper extracts and classifies attribute information from structured or unstructured text and image big data through deep learning-based technology development of 'language processing intelligence' and 'image processing intelligence', and We propose an artificial intelligence-based 'customized fashion advisor' service integration system that analyzes trends and new materials, discovers 'market-consumer' insights through consumer taste analysis, and can recommend style, virtual fitting, and design support.

The Goal of Mathematics School-Based Professional Development Program for Elementary School Teachers

  • The goal of this study was to examine the three components of a laboratory class cycle that empowered teachers to change their teaching practices. Six teachers and their administrator in an elementary school in the southeastern United States participated in the study. All the teachers were interviewed, and their mathematics lessons were observed at the end of each cycle of laboratory classes. The study revealed how planning, observing, and critiquing mathematics lessons as a team assisted the teachers' learning and teaching. We identified opportunities for the teachers to experiment with different teaching approaches, and we found that support from the team and from the school were key factors for the laboratory class cycle to function effectively.

  • 팀 프로젝트 기반 컴퓨터 프로그래밍 수업에서 팀의 동료 학습자들은 공동의 성과물을 얻기 위해 다양한 팀 활동을 하게 되며 그 과정에서 여러 학습 능력이 향상될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 팀 프로젝트에 참여하는 학습자들이 팀 구성, 주제 선정, 프로젝트 계획서 작성, 역할 분담, 팀 단위의 프로그래밍 개발 활동 및 평가에 참여하는 과정에서 얻게 되는 학습 성과를 분석해보고자 한다. 팀 프로젝트 수행과 관련 있는 창의력, 협동 능력, 의사소통 능력 그리고 문제해결 능력에 대해 학습자들 스스로 얼마나 향상되었다고 느끼는지 조사분석하여 다음 학기 수업 운영 시 교수법 개선에 반영하고자 한다.
