Finding Ways to Improve the Bilingual Teaching and Learning Method of Children of Multicultural Families Applying Waldorf Education

  • At present, our society is reducing the birth rate, and the school population is decreasing, but multicultural students are facing the increasing social phenomenon. We all need to make sure that bilingual teaching and learning is effective for children of multicultural families who need to live in the days of Phono Sapiens so that they can live confidently as members of our society. To this end, there is a great need for a bilingual teaching and learning method that enables children from multicultural families to be free from language and cultural prejudice and to actively communicate and interact. In this paper, we propose a customized bilingual education method that applies various teaching and learning methods according to the development cycle, school age, and Korean language ability of children of multicultural families. The proposed bilingual teaching method for children of multicultural families is a teaching and learning method that applies the Waldorf teaching principle.

  • To improve the elementary student's ability to classify the data and obtain the information from the data through graphics, it is necessary to use the teaching and learning material which encourage the student to study with interest and is adjacent to the student's environment. In this thesis. several materials to satisfy the condition is proposed together with some remarks to direct the teaching. These materials is recommended to use for the maturity learning and teaching in grade 6.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of learner's characteristics on the student's achievement in Information Communication Technology (ICT) teaching-learning environment. The subjects of this study were a total of 140 8th students in middle school in Taejeon province. The methods of teaching were the ICT teaching-learning, Academic achievement test. the learning style inventory. self-concept test and cognitive style test were used as the instruments to determine the effect. Such statistical analyses as the pearson co-relation, multi regression and t-test through SPSS WIN version 11.0 were used to determine the relationship between learner's characteristics and student's achievement. The results of this study were as follows: first, learner's emotional and social factor of learning style influenced positively the student's academic achievement in ICT teaching-learning environment. Second. learner's academic factor of self-concept had an positive influence on the student's academic achievement in ICT teaching-learning environment. Third, there were differences of student's academic achievements according to the student's cognitive style in ICT teaching-learning environment.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to develope elementary mathematics teaching-learning programs for pre-service elementary teachers. The elementary mathematics education program developed in this work is divided into two parts: One is the theory, the other is the practice. The theory deals with the foundations of mathematics, the objectives of mathematics education, the history of mathematics education in Korea, the psychology of mathematics learning, the theories of mathematics teaching and learning, and the methods of assessment. With respect to the practice, this study examines the background knowledge and activities of numbers and their operation, geometry, measurement, statistics and probability, pattern and function.

A Role-play Approach for Privacy Protection Inspiration of Elementary Students

  • Elementary school students have a little awareness of privacy protection since they do not have many opportunities for systematic education on information and communication ethics. Hence, they are likely to expose their own information to others and sometimes bring on a lot of misuses by using others' information. In this paper, we provide an idea for teaching and learning methods which the elementary school students acquire privacy protection and management methods and raise their practical capabilities. We develop a role play teaching and learning model in connection with various Information and Communication Technology (ICT) activities and establish the instruction plans. Moreover, we apply them to the actual classes at grade five and six of the elementary school students respectively, and finally analyze the results. The proposed teaching and learning method shows that the students participated in a series of learning activities have higher learning effects on awareness of privacy protection than those learned with the conventional methods.

  • In the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum, the system of equations is first introduced in 'Variables and Expressions' of [Middle School Grades 1-3]. Then, It is constructed that after learning the linear function in 'Functions', the relationship between the graphs of two linear functions and the systems of linear equations are learned so that students could improve the geometric representation of the systems of equations. However, in of Elective-Centered Curriculum Common Courses, Instruction is limited to algebraic manipulation when teaching and learning systems of quadratic equations. This paper presented the teaching and learning method that can improve students' mathematical connection through various representations by providing geometric representations in parallel using GeoGebra, a mathematics learning software, with algebraic solutions in the teaching and learning situation of simultaneous quadratic equations.

Proposal of Electronic Engineering Exploration Learning Operation Using Computing Thinking Ability

  • The purpose of the study is to develop effective teaching methods to strengthen the major learning capabilities of electronic engineering learners through inquiry learning using computing thinking ability. To this end, first, in the electronic engineering curriculum, we performed teaching-learning through an inquiry and learning model related to mathematics, probability, and statistics under the theme of various majors in electronic engineering, focusing on understanding computing thinking skills. Second, an efficient electronic engineering subject inquiry class operation using computing thinking ability was conducted, and electronic engineering-linked education contents based on the components of computer thinking were presented. Third, by conducting a case study on inquiry-style teaching using computing thinking skills in the electronic engineering curriculum, we identified the validity of the teaching method to strengthen major competency. In order to prepare for the 4th Industrial Revolution, by implementing mathematics, probability, statistics-related linkage, and convergence education to foster convergent talent, we tried to present effective electronic engineering major competency enhancement measures and cope with innovative technological changes.

  • Whether the engineering department of universities employs ideal usage of e-learning or not needs to be investigated as many engineering departments diversify the use of the e-learning elements for educational purpose. Applying the teaching and learning methods and characteristics would lead to better strategies which are applied to development of contents and deployment of the e-learning courses. This study examines the characteristics and approaches of the usage of e-learning elements used by some instructors who use multimedia contents in offline teaching and learning environment. The results of this study shows that the e-learning elements assist the face-to-face course and the interactions are manifested in the classroom rather than in online setting. Lecture, hands-on-practice, simulation, and PBL(Problem-based learning) are turned out to be the major teaching and learning methods. This study signifies the need for use of various teaching and learning methods by the instructors and provision of PBL environment.

  • The purpose of this study were to analyze characteristics of pre-service chemistry teachers' practice teaching and to investigate the relationship between their practice teaching characteristics and the view of learning. Three pre-service chemistry teachers were selected for this study. Their 9 practice teaching videos that recorded during practice teaching were observed, transcribed, and analyzed. Responses of questionnaires about their view of learning and interviews were transcribed and analyzed. Almost all of the characteristics of pre-service teachers' practice teaching seemed to be reflected in their view of learning. Pre-service teacher K had a lot of constructive view of learning, so comparatively many features of constructivism was presented in practice teaching. Pre-service teacher M had a lot of traditional view of learning, so many traditional features appeared in practice teaching. However, sometimes pre-service teachers' view of learning did not appear to their practice teaching because of several factors. In particular, a few cases that constructive view of learning was not reflected in the practice teaching appeared, especially pre-service teacher H. Factors were the practice school's conditions and the effects of tutors.
