As the recent demand for human resources in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), the development of professional STEM teacher is called worldwide. It is becoming a critical need in teacher education in order to educate student teachers, and prepare pre-service and beginning teachers for high quality of teaching competency. To promote the competency for $21^{st}$ century STEM teachers, the epistemology of technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) is currently considered as the essential qualities of knowledge for highly qualified teachers. The aim of this study is explore the effect of case-based learning approach on TPACK competency of pre-service STEM teachers. In order to develop the pre-service teachers' competency regarding effective integration of technologies into teaching specific content areas, a series of innovative case study teaching in science and mathematics was presented to 43 participants of pre-service physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and computer teachers during a course of information and communication technology (ICT) in Education at Khon Kaen University, Thailand. After finishing a case presentation, the pre-service teachers were encouraged into a forum of critical open discussion by considering the potential impact of the case and the TPACK framework. They were investigated instructional design competency of using ICT tools into student learning process and their personal beliefs about ICT in educational process both before and after. The participant's reactions and learning was evaluated by using a self-reported questionnaire and an implementation log of content-specific learning process design, respectively. Results showed a change of their beliefs and the transformation of their TPACK competency in STEM teaching. In an effort to better serve the needs of high quality STEM teachers, the results of this study illustrated that the competency of TPACK could be particularly considered as a core attributes for future STEM teachers. By the way, case-based learning approach can play an effective part in preparing and professing the TPACK competency for STEM teachers.
The purposes of this study were to present the learning framework and curriculum direction of the English education major and to suggest ways to enhance the English education-related curriculum and core competency more effectively. For these purposes, the needs of students in the English education department were identified and analyzed. After that, based on these results, Education 2030 Project and the 2015 revised English curriculum, the core competency-oriented education method of the English education department was proposed. The survey results are as follows: Many students in the Department of English Education were interested in their competencies, but did not know what they needed and how to actually strengthen them. They wanted to strengthen their competency with a core competency-oriented major curriculum. The results of this study, reflecting the national needs and core competencies of universities, suggested the direction for the development of the curriculum of the Department of English Education. In addition, the curriculum, teaching methods, and evaluation methods were organically linked to suggest ways to cultivate the required competencies more effectively.
This study explored the theoretical basis of the teaching competency of university professors in the future society represented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution through literature analysis and the researcher's council. To this end, this study first derived the implications for cultivating of teaching competency of university professors according to the social needs of future social universities. Next, according to the social needs of future social universities, the teaching competency required for university professors was presented. Finally, based on this theoretical argument, the concept of teaching competency of professors in the future society was defined and its sub-elements were presented. As a result of this study, the teaching competency frame of professors in the future society was proposed with 8 capabilities in 3 areas including 2 ability to respond to change, 2 ability to promote innovation, and 4 ability to instruct. Through the theoretical basis proposed in this study, it is hoped that the university professors' teaching competency development plan will be established to prepare for the instability of the uncertain future in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. In addition, it is expected that innovation and change strategies of each university will be established, and class innovation strategies will be established to meet the needs of students.

At present, universities in Korea are trying to raise the competency of university students by preparing them with abilities and attitudes required in society, and many universities are carrying out "core competency based education." Therefore, there is a need to evaluate the core competencies of students and verify educational performance. M University, which trains students in specialized marine topics, also conducts core competency based education, reflecting the specificity of the university. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a tool to measure the core competencies of M University students. First, preliminary questions were developed based on a literature review. Second, item analysis and exploratory factor analysis were conducted. As a result, six factors were identified. Finally, a total of 50 items were extracted from the final test, and validity was confirmed. The scale developed on the basis of this study can not only diagnose the core competency of students overall but also connect programs by diagnosing individual core competencies. It will be possible to use these results as basic data for honing the differentiated talents of universities specialized in maritime and ocean-related topics.

This descriptive study was conducted to examine the factors affecting core competency, learner motivation, and learner satisfaction of nursing students and to develop effective teaching methods. The subjects of this study were 134 nursing students. The core competencies of nursing students were higher in 3rd grade than in 2nd grade, and the core competency, motivation, and learner satisfaction of the nursing students were higher than those of below average students. The explanatory power of a core competency model constructed using the self-directed learning readiness, teacher-student interaction, and academic achievement was 45.1%. Additionally, the explanatory power of a learner motivation model based on self-directed learning readiness, teacher-student interaction, academic achievement, and learner motivation was 47.5%, while that of a learner satisfaction model constructed using the teacher-student interaction and learner motivation was 43.4%. In conclusion, it is necessary to improve teacher-student interaction and self-directed learning readiness to increase core competency and learner motivation. To increase learner satisfaction, it is necessary to intervene to encourage learner motivation and to make the teaching-student interaction efficient.

In connection with the OECD's core competency proposal, we would like to consider an attempt to realize this in liberal arts education at Korean universities and examine what kind of education plan it is desirable to present to learners. Universities are expanding competency-based education into human and social fields by reconsidering new talent awards and the direction of education. In this way, each university selects and organizes core competencies and incorporates the core competencies that the university pursues into educational goals. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, education centered on core competencies is exploring its potential in liberal arts courses at universities above all else. We want to explore a methodology that can achieve learner-centered teaching and learning effects in the process of incorporating and accepting this. Language acquisition along with cross-cultural understanding is above all else a part that can promote learners' competencies in terms of diversity and mutual understanding. Therefore, we reflect this in French liberal arts education and explore teaching and learning processes by incorporating respect for diversity and mutual cultural understanding competency education related to learners' motivation into lectures. We aim to supplement this through collaboration and mutual cultural understanding processes as presentation tasks in order to overcome the existing competency-based evaluation while deriving acceptance results from learners. Therefore, they recognize that the direction of core competency education naturally shifts to value-centered education.
The purpose of this study is to develop an educational model based on the capacity analysis of college students. In order to measure the learning ability of female science and engineering students, we used various tools to derive core competencies. The competency element of human resources implementation, the element of learning achievement area in the undergraduate education actual condition survey, and the analysis of the learning achievement elements of the engineering certification program were analyzed and the development of teaching method was searched to find ways to increase the competence of female students. In addition, we developed a model that can apply the development of pedagogy in the curriculum to the liberal arts, majors, and comparative courses, and presented the internship in field experience area, the improvement of on the spot learning, and teaching method and guidance to enhance the female students' competence. Also, as a case study of the proposed teaching method, new curriculum of 'Understanding of Big Data' which is the basis of the fourth industrial revolution technology in the second semester of 2016 was developed and applied to the education model. The results of this study are very positive, and we can expect the effectiveness of the new education model to enhance the learning ability and capacity of female students.
STEAM education is an effective teaching method to develop self-problem-solving skills through creative thinking. In this study, we investigated the philosophical background and progress of the 2022 revised curriculum development in the high school earth science field. Research that was not covered in the research report includes the relevance of the transformative competency of OECD Education 2030, and that core ideas and achievement standards are organized around knowledge understanding, process functions, and value attitudes that constitute the learning compass needle. In addition, the composition of core ideas and Earth science electives in light of the understanding-centered curriculum, and IB type inquiry-based teaching and learning. Main research results include that the 2022 revised Earth science curriculum emphasized the student agency to foster the transformative competency and scientific literacy, and the curriculum document system in the field of earth science uses a learning compass needle. In addition, based on the understanding-centered curriculum, core ideas of Earth science were derived, and elective courses were organized to help students reach these core ideas. Also, IB-type inquiry-based teaching and learning was emphasized to foster student agency with knowledge construction competency. Based on the research results, slimming of the national and general level curriculum, the need to develop process-centered assessment methods for value and attitudes, the need for curriculum backward design, and ways to develop student agency through inquiry-based teaching and learning were suggested.
The purpose of this study is to develop a student-led instructional strategy that is central to the teaching-learning process and to investigate its effects. For this study, we analyzed the learner-centered learning types (discovery learning, problem-based learning, inquiry learning) and extracted elements applicable to newly developed teaching-learning. Based on this, a student-led class strategy was established using pre-learning, teacher collaboration, small group composition, and limited open data and product presentation, and then science classes were conducted. As a result of the post-tests of the five science core competencies of the experimental group using the student-led instructional strategy and the comparative group conducting lecture-based classes, the experimental group showed higher scores than the comparative group in the scientific thinking, scientific communication, and scientific attitudes (p<.05). Based on these results, it was confirmed that the student-led class, in which the student self-adjusts the entire process of designing, exploring, and presenting learning, can help the student's scientific ability. In addition, I would like to discuss the implications of teachers' teaching-learning composition.
