A Hierarchical Solution Approach for Occupational Health and Safety Inspectors' Task Assignment Problem

  • Background: Occupational health and safety (OHS) is a significant interest of all governments to prevent workplace hazards. Although appropriate legislation and regulations are essentials for the protection of workers, they are solely not enough. Application of them in practice should be secured by an efficient inspection system. Fundamental components of an inspection system are inspectors and their audit tasks. Maintaining the fair balanced task assignment among inspectors strictly enhances the efficiency of the overall system. Methods: This study proposes a two-phased goal programming approach for OHS inspectors' task assignments and presents a case study. Results: The solution approach gives the balanced assignment of inspectors to the workplaces in different cities of the country in the planning period. The obtained schedule takes into account the distances covered by the work places and the number of the workplaces' employees to be audited and pays attention to the human factors by considering the preferences of the inspectors. The comparisons between the obtained optimal schedule and the implemented one that is produced manually show that the approach not only maintains the technical requirements of the problem, but also provides social and physical balance to the task assignment. Conclusion: Both the approach and the application study are expected to offer fruitful inspirations in the area of safety management and policy and they provide a good guide for social policy and organizational aspects in the field of OHS inspectors' task assignment.

여러 가지 들기 작업에서의 인체심리학적 · 생리학적 연구 (Psychophysical and Physiological Study on Various Lifting Tasks)

  • The muscular-skeletal disorders(MSDs) that have become a major issue recently in Korean industrial safety area are mainly caused by manual material handling task. The objective of this study is to provide scientific data for the establishment of work safety standard for Korean workers through the experiments of lifting task under various conditions, in order to prevent the muscular-skeletal disorders in the industrial work site. Eight male college students were recruited as participants. Three different lifting frequencies(1, 3, 5 lifts/min) and three twisting angles(including the sagittal plane and two asymmetric angles; i.e., 0°, 45°, 90°) for symmetric and asymmetric tasks, respectively, with three lifting range from floor to knuckle height, knuckle to shoulder, floor to shoulder height for one hour's work shift using free style lifting technique were studied. The maximum acceptable weight of load(MAWL) was determined under the different task conditions, and the oxygen consumption, heart rate, and RPE were measured or recorded while subjects were lifting their MAWLs. The results showed that: (1) The MAWLs were significantly decreased as the task frequency and task angle increased.; (2) The heart rate, oxygen consumption, RPE significantly increased with an increase in lifting frequency although maximum acceptable weight of lift decreased.; (3) The highest heart rate and oxygen consumption was recorded at the lifting range of floor to shoulder, followed by floor to knuckle and knuckle to shoulder.; (4) The RPE value showed that subjects perceived more exertion at the high frequency rate of lifting task and lifting range of floor to shoulder height. (5) The modeling for MAWL using isometric strength, task angle and lifting frequency were developed. It is expected that use of the results provided in this study may prove helpful in reducing MMH hazards, especially from lifting tasks for Korean, and can be used as a basis for pre-employment screening.

간호사의 윤리적 가치관에 관한 연구 (A study of the Ethical Values of Korean Nurses)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify whether ethical values of korean nurses are deontological or utilitarian. Nurse's ethical value questionnaire was developed from review of literature and interview of nurses in the clinical settings. Content validity was tested from three nursing faculties and staffs. Ethical problems are categorized into four areas : 1) human life area 2) nurse-patient relationship area 3) nurse - nursing task relationship area 4) nurse-collegue relationship area The data were obtained from the 404 nurses in the clinical settings from Feb. to Mar. in 1990 by ethical value questionnaire. The analysis of data was done by Pearson's correlation coefficient, t-test, anova. The results of this study were as follows : 1. The ethical values of human life slightly took up the position of utilitarian. 2. The ethical values of nurse - patient relationships slightly took up deontological position. 3. The ethical values of nurse - nursing task relationships slightly took up deontological position. 4. The ethical values of nurse - colleague relationships greatly took up deontological position. 5. The ethics of nurses related to demographic characteristics of religion, attitude of nursing, ethical standards, education level and post. Those who have religion took up more deontological position than those who have not. Those who have positive attitude of nursing and firm ethical standards took up more deontological position than those who have not. Those who have higher education level and post took up more deontological position than those who have not.

Mental Task 수행에 의한 전전두엽 활성 영역의 fNIRS 기반 추정 (The Estimation of Activated Prefrontal Brain Area due to The Execution of Mental Tasks using fNIRS)

  • The activation of prefrontal cortex of brain during some mental tasks like mental arithmetic induce has been studied using hemodynamic imaging modalities. In this study, we focused on the differentiation of activated area in local prefrontal brain caused by the different mental activities as well as evaluating the classification accuracy of in-house fNIRS system. The study preliminarily validated the device including the signal quality and tightness of contact between detectors and prefrontal area. Experimental results of mental tasks on 5 subjects showed the subject dependent tendencies in correlated prefrontal activation and the area of highest accuracy.

주거/사무공간의 조명환경 평가에 관한 연구 (Evaluation of Lighting Environments in Residential Area and Task Area)

  • 본 연구는 공간특성이 서로 다른 두 공간, 주거/사무공간의 조명환경에 대한 평가구조를 비교 검토하고 각 공간의 행위에 적합한 조명환경을 제시하고자 슬라이드 사진을 이용한 평가실험을 실시하였다. 평가대상 슬라이드수는 주거공간이 28장, 사무공간이 26장이다 실험은 각 공간별로 분위기항목과 행위항목에 대해 각각 실시하였다. 평가항목은 분위기항목이 21가지, 행위항목이 14가지이다. 각 공간의 평정치를 이용하여 인자분석을 실시한 결과, 주거공간과 사무공간 모두 <활동성>,<안정감),<고급감)의 3인자축이 추출되었다. 그러나, 주거공간의 경우는 <활동성>인자축이 평가축을 이루었으며, 사무공간의 경우는 <고급감>인자축이 평가축을 이루었다. 행위항목의 인자분석 결과는 주거공간의 경우, <작업행위>,<휴식행위>,<단란행위>의 3인자축이, 사무공간의 경우 <작업행위),<휴식행위>의 2인자축이 추출되어 주거공간의 경우, 활동성 평가가 높은 조명환경은 작업행위에 적합하며 반대로 활동성평가가 낮은 조명환경일수록 휴식행위에 적합한 것으로 나타났다 사무공간의 경우도 마찬가지로 작업행위에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 분위기 인자는 활동성으로 나타나 활동성평가 높을수록 작업행위에 적합하며, 후식행위는 평가성 평가가 높은 조명환경에 적합한 것으로 나타났다.

  • 고속 WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Network)은 IEEE 802.15 WPAN WG(Working Group)의 TG(Task Group)3에서 표준화되고 있다. TG3에서는 고속 WPAN을 위한 2.4GHz ISM 대역의 물리계층 및 미디어접속제어계층 연구, UWB 에 의한 물리계층 연구(TG3a) 및 밀리미터파에 의한 물리계층 연구(TG3c)로 구성되어 있다 본 고에서는 UWB 및 밀리미터파에 의한 고속 WPAN의 표준화 동향에 관해 살펴본다.

담배농가의 수확, 엮기작업 중 공기 중 니코틴 노출에 관한 연구 (A Research on Airborne Nicotine Exposure during Harvest and Weaving Tasks in Tobacco Farms)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate personal and area exposure of airborne nicotine during harvest and weaving tasks in tobacco farms. Methods: Nicotine was measured with NIOSH method 2551 and Passive sampler which was validated in previous papers for area and personal sampling. Results: The average (geometric mean) concentrations of nicotine with two different tasks in personal sample were 6.5 ${\mu}g/m^3$ (harvest), 32.6 ${\mu}g/m^3$ (weaving) and in area sample were 0.8 ${\mu}g/m^3$ (harvest), 57.2 ${\mu}g/m^3$ (weaving). There was significant difference in area sample between harvest and weaving task (p=0.000). Also, there was significant difference with personal sample (p=0.000). Conclusions: It was found that weaving task should be considered to be the first priority for reducing nicotine exposure.

급식학교 영양사의 직무개선을 위한 실태조사 및 평가 (Assessment of Dietitians in Elementary School Foodservice Program)

  • The study was surveyed to evaluate the foodservice program. The survey was conducted based on instrument which was developed by reviewing previous research. The instrument was provided to 60 nutritionists at the elementary schools in Taegu area. The data include 4 major parts of task performance rate, delivery and service, menu management, and satisfaction of foodservice facilities. Data obtained from survey are analyzed by SPSS program. These results show that the performance rates of determination of nutritional needs and menu planning is high to 98.3% both and 23% of nutritionists don't perfomed nutrition education.

통계학적 자극설계를 이용한 Event-related fMRl에서 운동과 언어과제의 최적 SOAmin에 대한 연구 (A Study of Optimal SOAmin for Motor and Language Tasks in Event-related fMRI using Stochastic Design)

  • 목적 : Event-related fMRl를 위한 통계학적 자극설계에서 최소 자극간격(Minimum Stimulus Onset Asynchronoy: SOAmin)은 중요한 요소로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 통계학적 자극설계를 이용한 event-related fMRI에서 언어과제와 운동과제의 보다 큰 활성화 신호를 얻기 위한 치적의 SOAmin을 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 4명의 오른손잡이 정상 자원자를 대상으로 운동과 언어의 event-related fMRI를 얻었다. 기능적 자기공명영상은 1.5T기기에서 EPI-BOLD시퀀스를 사용하였다. 각 과제에서 SOAmin을 2, 3, 4, 6초로 달리한 4회의 자극을 이용하여 활성화를 유도하였다. 영상 후 처리는 SPM99를 이용하였으며 활성화 신호의 유의수준은 p<0.05를 기준으로 하였다. 각 과제에서 나타난 활성화 신호를 Z값, 활성화된 화소수와 군집성을 기준으로 비교하였다. 결과 : 운동과제에서는 중심구(1차 운동영역)와 내전두엽(2차 운동영역)에서 활성화 신호가 나타났고, 언어과제에서는 좌측 하전두회 (Broca영역)에서 일정한 활성화 신호가 나타났다. 운동과 언어과제에서 활성화 신호는 SOAmin이 작아질 수록 커지는 경향을 나타내었다. 운동과제에서 1차 운동영역의 활성화 신호는 3초, 2차 운동영역에서는 2초의 SOAmin을 적용한 경우 가장 큰 활성화 신호가 나타났고, 언어과제에서는 2초의 SOAmin을 적용한 경우 가장 큰 활성화 신호가 나타났다. 결론 : 통계학적 자극설계를 이용한 event-related URI로 운동과 언어의 기능적 자기공명영상을 얻기 위해서는 2초 또는 3초의 짧은 SOAmin이 효과적이었다.

한우의 자궁내막세포에서 발현되는 Two-pore Domain 포타슘 통로 (Expression of Two-pore Domain $K^+$ Channels in Endometrial Cells of Korean Cattle)

  • 임신의 성립 및 유지에 중요한 역할을 하는 자궁내막세포에 $K_{2P}$ 통로의 존재를 확인하기 위하여 본 연구를 수행하였다. $K_{2P}$ 통로는 일반적으로 중추신경계에 풍부하게 존재하면서 세포의 안정막 전압을 유지시킨다. 역전사 중합 효소 중합 반응과 면역 세포 화학 염색 방법을 이용하여 자궁내막세포에 존재하는 $K_{2P}$ 통로를 조사한 결과, TASK-1, TASK-3, TREK-1, TREK-2 및 TRAAK의 발현이 확인되었다. TASK-3와 TREK-1은 핵을 포함한 세포 전역에 발현하였고, TREK-2와 TRAAK은 핵을 제외한 세포 전역에 발현하였다. 그러나 자궁내막염이 있는 자궁내막세포와 정상 자궁내막세포에서 $K_{2P}$ 통로의 발현 변화를 비교한 결과, 두 군간의 mRNA 발현 수준이 변화하지 않았다. 본 연구는 한우의 자궁내막세포에서 $K_{2P}$ 통로의 존재를 처음으로 보고하는데, 이를 통하여 한우의 자궁내막세포에서 확인된 $K_{2P}$ 통로들은 자궁의 생리 작용과 자궁암 등과 같은 여러 자궁 관련 질병에 관여할 가능성이 높을 것으로 생각된다.
