비위(脾胃)질환의 식치(食治)에 관한 소고(小考) - 『음선정요(飮膳正要)·식료제병(食療諸病)』, 『식료찬요(食療纂要)』를 중심으로 - (A Study on Food Cure for Stomach Diseases - Focusing on Eumsunjungyo·Singnyojaebyeong, Singnyochanyo -)

  • Objectives : This study selected the food ingredients mainly appearing in the stomach-disease-related articles from Eumsunjungyo Singnyojaebyeong and Singnyochanyo, and investigated their effects to turn these data into references for modern people, use the food therapy of ancestors for modern life, and prevent and cure stomach diseases of modern people due to unhealthy lifestyle. Methods : This study selected the stomach-related food therapies from Eumsunjungyo and Singnyochanyo, and organized the therapies by chief virtue, effect, ingredient, and recipe. Also, this study analyzed and investigated characteristics, tastes, and target organs of the food ingredients in the recipes. Results : There are 8 stomach-related recipes among 61 recipes in Eumsunjungyo Singnyojaebyeong, and there are total 34 types of stomach-related recipes in Singnyochanyo including 27 types of BiwiBuBanui Five and 7 types of GutoBuHaeyeokByeonggyeonBiwi fifteen. Both Eumsunjungyo Singnyojaebyeong and Singnyochanyo contains food therapies for diseases due to week stomach. Most recipes in Singnyochanyo uses only food ingredients, whereas most recipes in Eumsunjungyo Singnyojaebyeong uses ingredients which can be used as medicine. Conclusions : The food therapies in Eumsunjungyo Singnyojaebyeong and Singnyochanyo proves that people in all regions have used food to cure diseases from old times. On the other words, people have clinically used the characteristics, tastes, and cooking forms of food ingredients for a long time. Thus, this study can be a reference for creating another food therapy.

2016년 소양호에서 채집한 자연산 잉어과 어류와 갑각류의 법정전염병 및 기생충성 질병 모니터링 (Monitoring Pathogen Infection of Freshwater Cyprinid Fish and Crustacean in Soyang Lake in 2016)

  • The presence of pathogens in wild fish is a potential threat to the fish being raised nearby fish farm. Surveillance of these pathogens in the wild is, thus, highly important to keep fish in the farm safe from serious communicable diseases. Fish and crustacean were sampled 4 times at Soyang Lake in 2016. Pathogens for five reportable communicable diseases including KHVD (koi herpesvirus disease), SVC (spring viraemia of carp), EUS (epizootic ulcerative syndrome) and WSD (white spot disease), and parasites were investigated. In Soyang Lake, pale chub Zacco platypus was the most abundant. Forty seven pale chub, 8 Korea piscivorous chub Opsarichthys uncirostris, 3 oily shiner Sarcocheilichthys variegatus wakiyae and 2 crucian carp Cyprinus carassius were investigated for detection of target diseases of fish. Seventeen Caridina denticulata denticulata, 12 Oriental river prawn Macrobrachium nipponense and 1 Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis were used for detection of WSD. As the result, reportable communicable diseases were not detected in all the freshwater animals. Dactylogyrus was detected in Korea piscivorous chub. Copepoda was also detected in pale chub and Korea piscivorous chub. Metacercaria was detected in the pale chub sampled in September and October. Those were not metacercaria of liver fluke Clonorchis sinensis.

국내 약침 특허 현황에 대한 분석연구 (Review on the Pharmacopuncture Patent in Korea)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze the trend of pharmacopuncture in Korean patent in order to establish database for patent technology. Methods : Electronic literature searches for Korean patents related to pharmacopuncture were performed in two electronic databases (Korea Intellectual Property Right Information Service and National Digital Science Library) to June 2017. Patents that were not Korean ones, did not use medicinal herb, only described method of manufacture, or had nothing to do with pharmacopuncture were excluded in this study. The status and application date of patents, Medicinal herb, target diseases, International Patent Classification (IPC), model of experiment and extracting methods were analyzed. Results : A total of 379 patents were retrieved. Based on our inclusion/exclusion criteria, 297 patents were excluded. Of 82 included patents, 27 patents did not include experiments using pharmacopuncture, and 9 patents were invented for treating animals such as pig or calf. In IPC analysis, Bee Venom, Panax (ginseng), Angelica, and Paeoniaceae were used frequently. Musculoskeletal diseases were the most targeted diseases followed by nervous diseases. For extracting, hot water extraction, distillation extraction, and solvent extraction using alcohol, ethanol, or methanol for solvent were commonly used. Conclusions : These data are useful for inventing new patent and extending range of pharmacopuncture in clinical use, however, more systematically analyzed patent studies and pharmacopuncture-related studies for new application on various diseases are needed in further studies.

Multiplex-Touchdown PCR to Simultaneously Detect Cryptosporidium parvum, Giardia lamblia, and Cyclospora cayetanensis, the Major Causes of Traveler's Diarrhea

  • This study aimed to develop a multiplex-touchdown PCR method to simultaneously detect 3 species of protozoan parasites, i.e., Cryptosporidium parvum, Giardia lamblia, and Cyclospora cayetanensis, the major causes of traveler's diarrhea and are resistant to standard antimicrobial treatments. The target genes included the Cryptosporidium oocyst wall protein for C. parvum, Glutamate dehydrogenase for G. lamblia, and 18S ribosomal RNA (18S rRNA) for C. cayetanensis. The sizes of the amplified fragments were 555, 188, and 400 bps, respectively. The multiplex-touchdown PCR protocol using a primer mixture simultaneously detected protozoa in human stools, and the amplified gene was detected in > $1{\times}10^3$ oocysts for C. parvum, > $1{\times}10^4$ cysts for G. lamblia, and > 1 copy of the 18S rRNA gene for C. cayetanensis. Taken together, our protocol convincingly demonstrated the ability to simultaneously detect C. parvum, G. lamblia, and C. cayetanenesis in stool samples.

한방 여성의학 영역에서 활용된 약침요법에 대한 국내 연구 동향 분석 (A Review of the Domestic Study Trends on Obstetrics & Gynecological Diseases with Pharmacopuncture Therapy)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to analyze the domestic study trends of pharmacopuncture therapy on obstetrics and gynecological diseases in Korean literature, through reviewing the clinical and experimental studies. Methods: We searched for clinical and experimental studies using pharmacopuncture therapy on obstetrics and gynecological diseases, published from January 2000 to May 2019, through 5 Korean databases. The study design, target disease, type of pharmacopuncture, method of intervention, and study results were analyzed. Results: 36 experimental studies and 15 clinical studies were finally included according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. In experimental studies, there were 12 studies about postmenopausal osteoporosis, 9 studies about obesity, 4 studies about endometriosis, 3 studies about hemostatic effects and analgesic anticoagulative effects, 2 studies about ovarian function, and analgesic antiphlogistic anticoagulative effects, and 1 study about menopausal symptoms. In clinical studies, there were 3 studies about obesity, postpartum disorders, dysmenorrhea, and women's urologic disease, and 1 study about menopausal symptoms, atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS) and breast cancer. Various types of pharmacopuncture have been proved to have a therapeutic effect in each of those obstetrics and gynecological diseases. Conclusions: This study indicates that pharmacopuncture therapy could be a good treatment for obstetrics and gynecological diseases. However, more well-designed and high-quality clinical researches are needed in further studies, to prove the effectiveness and safety of pharmacopuncture therapy.

사이토카인의 소개 (The Cytokines:An Overview)

  • Having an understanding of the properties of cytokines is essential for the immunologist, the researcher and the medical practitioner who need to understand immunologic diseases and immunological therapeutic approaches. Cytokines are redundant in their actions on target cells and promiscuous in their receptor reactions. (ED note: That is some cool use of English!) Moreover, many cells concomitantly produce several cytokines that have overlapping actions. Here this review provides conceptual framework to understand the intriguing aspects of the cytokine system.

딥러닝 기반 넙치 질병 식별 향상을 위한 전처리 기법 비교 (A Comparison of Pre-Processing Techniques for Enhanced Identification of Paralichthys olivaceus Disease based on Deep Learning)

  • 과거 양식장에서 어류 질병은 세균성이었던 반면 최근은 바이러스성 및 혼합된 형태가 되면서 어류 질병의 빈도가 높아졌다. 양식장이라는 밀폐된 공간에서 바이러성 질병은 확산속도가 높으므로 집단 폐사로 이어질 확률이 매우 높다. 집단 폐사를 방지하기 위해서는 어류 질병의 빠른 식별이 중요하다. 그러나 어류의 질병 진단은 고도의 전문지식이 필요하고 매번 어류의 상태를 눈으로 확인하기 어렵다. 질병의 확산을 막기 위해서는 병이든 어류의 자동식별 시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 딥러닝 기반의 넙치의 질병 식별 시스템의 성능을 높이기 위해서 기존 전처리 방법을 비교 실험한다. 대상 질병은 넙치에서 가장 빈번히 발생하는 3가지 질병 스쿠티카병, 비브리오증, 림포시스티스를 선정하였고 이미지 전처리 방법으로 RGB, HLS, HSV, LAB, LUV, XYZ, YCRCV를 사용하였다. 실험결과 일반적인 RGB를 사용하는 것보다 HLS가 가장 좋은 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 간단한 방법으로 질병의 인식률을 향상해 어류 질병 식별 시스템을 고도화 할 수 있을 것으로 예상한다.

소아에서 사봉혈(四縫穴) 활용에 대한 문헌 조사 (A Literature Review of Application of Sifeng Point (EX-UE 10) in Children)

  • Objectives The objective of this study is to investigate the application of Sifeng point (EX-UE 10) in children and to make suggestions for domestic research and clinical application by reviewing relevant randomized controlled trials. Methods Eight electronic databases including English, Chinese, Korean databases were comprehensively searched for randomized controlled trials evaluating the effects of Sifeng point in children up to May 2, 2018. We extracted the year of publication, country, target diseases or symptoms, location of Sifeng, acupuncture method; such as acupuncture tool and depth of insertion, and frequency, number, and duration of the treatment. Results Fifty studies were included for analysis. All the included studies were conducted in China, and studies were published from 1962 to 2017. The most frequent target symptom was anorexia (46%). In addition, Sifeng point was used for digestive diseases or symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, and mesenteric lymphadenitis, as well as respiratory diseases or symptoms such as cough, cold, acute bronchiolitis, recurrent respiratory tract infections, bronchopneumonia, and asthmatic bronchitis. Also, allergic diseases such as chronic urticaria, and other variety of symptoms such as malnutrition, fever, and iron-deficiency anemia were treated with the Sifeng point. The location of Sifeng points was inconsistent, and the most common location of the Sifeng point was the midpoint of transverse creases of the proximal interphalangeal joints of the index, middle, ring and little fingers (84.2%). The most commonly used acupuncture tool was three-edged needle (40.9%). All included studies have the method of squeezing out blood or mucus from the Sifeng points. The treatment was mostly conducted once per week (35.4%), mostly repeated for 4 times (32.6%). The most common treatment duration was 4 weeks (18.6%). Conclusions We could identify acupuncture method and various indications for the Sifeng points treatment. Based on this study, there is a need for the clinical application and related researches on the Sifeng points in children in Korea. In addition, the treatment location of Sifeng point should be standardized.

감마나이프 시상하핵파괴술에서 목표물 위치측정을 위한 렉셀 감마플랜 능력의 조사 (Investigation of Leksell GammaPlan's ability for target localizations in Gamma Knife Subthalamotomy)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 기능성 질환의 감마나이프 시상하핵파괴술(또는 담창구파괴술, 시상파괴술)에서 렉셀 감마플랜의 표적 위치측정의 능력을 평가하는 것이다. 렉셀 감마플랜의 위치 설정의 정확성을 평가하기 위해 본원에서 뇌심부 자극술 수술을 받은 10명의 환자에 대해 렉셀 감마플랜(또는 렉셀 써지플랜)과 저자의 알고리즘에 의해 계산된 표적 좌표들의 차이 Δr가 평가 되었다. Δr는 0.0244663 mm에서 0.107961 mm까지 범위의 값을 가졌다. Δr의 평균은 0.054398 mm이었다. 또한 정위 공간과 뇌지도 공간 두 좌표계 사이의 위치 관계를 결정하기 위하여 좌표변환 행렬을 매스매티카(Mathematica)의 의사역행렬 또는 특이값 분해를 사용하여 계산하였다. 정교한 정위틀 장착에도 불구하고 요(yaw)는 -3.44739 도에서 1.82243 도, 피치(pitch)는 -4.57212 도에서 0.692063 도, 롤(roll)은 -6.38239 도에서 7.21426 도까지의 정렬 불량(misalignment)이 나타났다. 결론적으로, 사내 알고리즘을 사용하여 감마나이프 플랫폼에서 렉셀 감마플랜(또는 렉셀 써지플랜)의 위치 설정에 대한 정확도를 확인함으로써 뇌심부 자극술에 금기 사항이 있는 개인이나 노인과 같이 종래 수술에 고위험으로 간주되는 환자에 대한 난치성 운동이상 질환의 대체 치료법으로 안전과 효능을 가진 감마나이프 시상하핵파괴술(또는 담창구파괴술, 시상파괴술)이 추천된다. 향후 기능성 질환의 표적 위치측정을 위해 제안된 알고리즘은 여러 감마나이프 센터의 운동이상 질환 치료에 기여할 것이라 사료된다.
