Study on Reliability Evaluation for a Taper Grid Coupling (테이퍼 그리드 커플링의 신뢰성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: This paper evaluates the reliability of tapered grid couplings and presents test results through performance and life tests. Methods: The performance and life test method were presented by analyzing the failure modes for the tapered grid coupling. Zero failure test time was calculated to evaluate the reliability of tapered grid couplings and the test was performed under accelerated conditions. The nondestructive test and wear analysis using weighing were also carried out to check the failure modes of the field conditions. Conclusion: This study can be provided to improve the product reliability through failure analysis of a tapered grid coupling. The performance test results of before and after the accelerated life test were presented to confirm the improved reliability of the tapered grid coupling.

MUTUAL COUPLING EFFECTS ON THE PERFORMANCE OF A SPACE-TAPERED RECTANGULAR PHASED ARRAY (공간체감된 구형 위상어레이의 성능에 미치는 상호결합의 영향)

  • The radiating or receiving characteristics of array elements (i.e., antennas) are changed from those of isolated elements due to mutual coupling effects and the array performance becomes different from those originally designed by assuming isolated elements. The effects of mutual coupling on the performance of a rectangular array with triangular grid geometry of dipoles above a ground plane are discussed with respect to element pattern. The concept of element gain function is used to examine the effects of mutual coupling on the array performance in terms of sidelobe level in the uniformly spaced and space-tapered rectangular arrays with triangular grid geometry of dipoles. It was shown that the sidelobe performance improved in the space-tapered array compared to the uniformly spaced array in the presence of mutual coupling effects. Computer simulation results are presented.

  • Packet transmission and independent addressing in the mobile environments are very similar to the ones in the multicasting environment. So, in this paper, we propose a new scheme about how to manage the multicasting group and to set the communication path in the mobile environment by applying two-level addressing mode, which is similar to mobile If, for location-independent address setting. And we propose the smooth handoff scheme that minimizes the handoff delay for mobile multimedia services. To check the performance of our proposed scheme, we modified the NS-2 network simulator and as a result, we showed that our proposed scheme is better than other techniques in terms of handoff delay and transmitted packets' throughput.
