Take-off weight is a key factor for improving accuracy when estimating an aircraft's carbon emissions and fuel consumption. However, the takeoff weight contains sensitive payload information that can infer the airline's management strategy, making it impossible to leak it outside. Although several models for estimating takeoff weight have been presented in previous studies, the researcher points out that there are limitations of the study caused by variables at the pilot's discretion. In this paper, several variables related to takeoff weight are identified to suggest a way to control these limits. Among them, variables that can improve the accuracy of takeoff weight are selected and an estimation equation is presented by applying them to ADS-B information. The proposed estimation does not estimate the average takeoff weight but has the advantage of being able to estimate all ranges of the takeoff weight.

A drone invented for the military has been increased the range of application with the development of relevant technology, and it influences to include the private area. Currently, the use of drone has been increasing in many areas, such as agriculture, unmanned parcel service, production of image contents, and architecture. In 2021, South of Korea, a drone certificate system for drone flight is introduced and on operation. In case of drone flight with the maximum takeoff weight as 2kg or up, the flight experience and practical examination are required, whereas in case of drone lighter than 2kg, the online education qualification is enough to operate it without the flight experience and practical examination. Recently, the drone related accidents have been increasing with the rapidly supply of camera drones with the maximum takeoff weight as less than 2kg. This paper introduces the characteristics of the camera drone to meet burgeoning demand, and discusses an education plan for the camera drone.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate kinematic differences in back pike somersault in platform diving according to skill level and to apply the findings to improve performance. Method: Korean divers participating in this study were divided into a skilled group (age: $21.6{\pm}4.16y$, height: $1.68{\pm}0.03m$, weight: $62.0{\pm}3.94kg$, career: $12.6{\pm}5.13y$) and a less-skilled group (age: $20.6{\pm}2.7y$, height: $1.72{\pm}0.05m$, weight: $64.8{\pm}6.76kg$, career: $12.2{\pm}2.49y$) and an independent t-test was performed to analyze differences between groups at the moment of takeoff. Results: The two groups showed significant differences in displacement and velocity of center of mass (COM), takeoff angle, hip joint angle, knee joint angular velocity, and hip joint angular velocity at the takeoff (p<.05), and significant differences in displacement of COM, hip joint, and ankle joint during flight (p<.05). Conclusion: For a successful back pike, the COM should rise quickly in the vertical direction and the hip joint angle and angular velocity should increase. To improve performance, the back pike turn should be practiced on the ground before an attempt on a 10-m platform, to stretch the ankle and knee joints and enable quick flexion of the hip joint when turning in flight.

Cross section design of a prop-blade is carried out for VTOL(Vertical Takeoff and Landing) Quad Tilt Prop-rotor UAV with a maximum takeoff weight of 55 kg and a maximum cruising speed of 180 km/h. Design procedure for cross section design is established and design requirements for prop-blade are identified. Through the procedure, cross section design is carried out to meet the identified requirements. Main design factors including stiffness, weight per unit length, and elastic axis are obtained by using a finite element section analysis program, and the design weight of the prop-blade is predicted. The obtained design factors are used along with the rotor system analysis program CAMRAD II to evaluate the dynamic stability of prop-blade in operating environment. In addition, the prop-blade load is obtained by CAMRAD II software, and it is used to verify the safety of the prop-blade structure. If the design results are not satisfactory, design changes are made in an iterative manner until the results satisfy the design requirements.

The target system is a middle size UAV, which is a low-speed long-endurance UAV with a weight of 18 kg and wingspan of 6.4 m. Three electric power sources, i.e. solar cells, a fuel cell, and a battery, are considered. The optimal takeoff time is determined to maximize the endurance because the generated solar cell's energy is heavily dependent on it. Each power source is modeled in Matlab/Simulink, and the component models are verified with the component test data. The component models are integrated into a power system which is used for power simulations. When takeoff time is at 6 pm and 2 am, it can supply the power during 37.5 hrs and 27.6 hrs, respectively. In addition, the thermostat control simulation for fuel cell demonstrates that it yields more power supply and efficient power distribution.
To perform realistic air traffic control (ATC) simulation in various air traffic situations, an aircraft dynamic model that is accurate and efficient is required. In this research, an improved five degree of freedom (5-DOF) dynamic model with feedback control and guidance law is developed, which utilizes selected performance data and operational specifications from the base of aircraft data (BADA) and estimations using aircraft design techniques to improve the simulation fidelity. In addition, takeoff weight is estimated based on the aircraft type and flight plan to improve simulation accuracy. The dynamic model is validated by comparing the simulation results with recorded flight trajectories. An ATC simulation system using this 5-DOF model can be used for various ATC related research.

In this research, the initial sizing of a HALE(High Altitude Long Endurance) UAV which uses solar power and hydrogen fuel cell as an alternative energy was performed. Instead of a wing box type, a glider type was chosen since it is relatively easy to get a data thanks to many researches abroad. Maximum takeoff weight is around 150Kg and the propulsion system is composed of motor, propeller, solar cell, and hydrogen fuel cell which can be recharged through electrolysis. Maximum takeoff weight was estimated as aspect ratio, wing span, wing area change while considering energy balance of required energy which is necessary for flight during the entire day and available energy which can be taken from the solar cell.
The estimation of hovering flight time of multicopters using the battery power propulsion system is important for the development and design of the aircraft and its operation. For a given operational weight, the maximum possible battery weight can be decided using both a conventional energy density method and a new Peukert law. In the present study, the hovering flight time is predicted using both methods. The specific data of multicopters in the published literatures were employed for the computation of the hovering flight time. The results were validated with the measured data. The effect of figure of merit of propeller, battery discharging process on the hovering flight time was evaluated, Finally, the effect of the battery cell and package connection types on the hovering time was investigated. It was found that the combination of serial battery cell connections and parallel package connection is the bast in the endurance maximization aspect. As the cell number increases in a package, the hovering flight time is increased. There exists the max. battery ratio for the given takeoff gross weight.

KARI has been conducting R&D for independent development of KSLV-II since 2010. Vehicle holding device is a device for vertically standing SLV on the launch pad of launch complex and fixing the lower part of vehicle in order to firmly fix vehicle so that SLV does not fall from an external load such as a wind load. When thrust generated after the 1st stage engine ignition of SLV must exceed the takeoff weight of vehicle, and holding device should be quickly released so that it does not interfere with takeoff of vehicle like other ground equipment at the beginning of the launch. Pyro-valve is one of the key components constituting VHD, and it should have high reliability and quick response characteristics with similar functional parts applied to launch vehicle separation device and satellite separation device. Through this paper, I intend to broaden the overall understanding of the development process of pyro-valve for VHD and KSLV-II.

Reinforcing steel work plays an important role in terms of its structural performance or weight of construction cost for reinforced concrete structures. Precise estimation of re-bar quantity gives a basis for managing the reinforcing steel work effectively. However, the estimation process is still performed ineffectively based upon the expert's experience or manpower in spite of the advanced technology or improvement efforts. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to develop a prototype system for taking-off the quantity of reinforcing steel bars quickly and accurately in an order consistent with the specific members identified on the drawings. An estimate algorithm considering the connection, settlement and coating thickness of re-bars was suggested regarding to their replacement conditions which places more emphasis on constructibility. Also, this system produces the shop drawings automatically with the calculation results.
