To obtain low resistance and high efficiency energy-saving ship, minimum total resistance hull form design method is studied based on potential flow theory of wave-making resistance and considering the effects of tail viscous separation. With the sum of wave resistance and viscous resistance as objective functions and the parameters of B-Spline function as design variables, mathematical models are built using Nonlinear Programming Method (NLP) ensuring the basic limit of displacement and considering rear viscous separation. We develop ship lines optimization procedures with intellectual property rights. Series60 is used as parent ship in optimization design to obtain improved ship (Series60-1) theoretically. Then drag tests for the improved ship (Series60-1) is made to get the actual minimum total resistance hull form.
In general, the aluminum extrusions are used to the light construction of the high speed rail vehicle structures. However, the research works ok the crashworthy design of the high speed rail vehicle structures are not published sufficiently because the crash test of high speed rail vehicle structures costs high and is complicated. So, a method that can predict crash characteristics of a large size structure like a high speed tail vehicle should be suggested. In this study, the scale model studies are performed to predict the impact energy absorption characteristics of full scale model. In the first place, we verified the theory of scale law using FE-simulation from the crashworthiness point of view. Secondly, we performed the crush test using scale model, made of aluminum sub structure. As a result, we could predict the crash characteristics using scale model by 10∼20% error.
Interest in hydrogen production to respond to climate change is increasing. Until now, hydrogen has been mainly produced through the SMR (Steam Methane Reforming) process using natural gas. A large amount of CO2 is emitted in the hydrogen production process through SMR, and the gas flow including CO2 generated in the SMR process has different characteristics for each emission source, so it is important to apply a suitable CO2 capture process. In the case of PSA tail gas or synthesis gas, the applicability of an amine-based process has been confirmed or demonstrated close to a commercial level. However, in the case of the flue gas generated from the reformer, it is still difficult to apply the conventional amine-based process because the partial pressure of CO2 is relatively low. Energy-saving innovative absorbents such as phase separation absorbents can be a solution to these difficulties.

The micro-patterning by a Bow energy FIB whish has been conventionally utilized far mask-repairing was investigated. Amorphous Se$\_$75/Gee$\_$25/ resist irradiated by 9[keV]-defocused Ga$\^$+/ ion beam(∼10$\^$15/[ions/$\textrm{cm}^2$]) resulted in increasing the optical absorption, which was also observed also in the film exposed by an optical dose of 4.5${\times}$10$\^$20/[photons/$\textrm{cm}^2$]. The ∼0.3[eV] edge shift for ion-irradiated film was about twice to that obtained for photo-exposed. These large shift could be estimated as due to an increase in disorder from the decrease in the sloop of the Urbach tail. For Ga$\^$+/ FIB irradiation with a relatively low energy, 30[keV] and above the amount of dose of 1.4${\times}$10$\^$16/[ions/$\textrm{cm}^2$], the irradiated region in a-Se$\_$75/Ge$\_$25/ resist was perfectly etched in acid solution for 10[sec], which is relatively a short development time. A contrast was about 2.5. In spite of the relatively low incident energy,∼0.225[$\mu\textrm{m}$] pattern was clearly obtained by the irradiation of a dose 6.5${\times}$10$\^$16/[ions/$\textrm{cm}^2$] and a scan diameter 0.2[$\mu\textrm{m}$], from which excellent results were expected fur incident energies above 50[keV] which was conventionally used in FIBL.

As utilization of radiation in medicine, industry and biochemical research increases, the protection against radiation damage has become an important issue. Natural products such as herbal medicines are beginning to receive attention as modifiers on the radiation response. In the present study, the protective effect of a herb, Menthae Herba, against radiation-induced DNA damage was evaluated using alkaline single-cell gel electrophoresis (SCGE; comet assay) in the mouse peripheral blood Iymphocytes and the micronucleus formation test in the Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. The tail moment, which was a marker of DNA damage in the SCGE, and the frequency of micronuclei was decreased in groups treated with Mentae Herba extract before exposure to 200 cGy of gamma-ray. We also confirmed its activities to scavenge DPPH and hydroxyl radicals. These experiments demonstrated that Menthae Herba was effective at reducing the radiation-induced damage of DNA and scavenging free radicals. It is plausible that scavenging of free radicals by Menthae Herba may have played an important role in providing the protection against the radiation-induced damage to the DNA. These results indicated that Menthae Herba might be a useful radioprotector and that radical scavenging appears to be one of the mechanisms of radiation protection.

The alkaline single-cell gel electrophoresis (SCGE) assay, called the comet assay, has been applied to the detection of DNA damage from a number of chemical and biological factors in vivo and in vitro. The comet assay is a novel method to assess DNA single-strand breaks, alkali-labile sites in individual cells. The effect of peach kernel extracts on radiation-induced DNA damage in human blood lymphocytes was evaluated by the SCGE assay. The lymphocytes, with or without pretreatment of the extracts, were exposed to 0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 Gy of $^{60}Co$ gamma ray. Significantly increased tail moment, which was a marker of DNA strand breaks in the comet assay, showed an excellent dose-response relationship. The treatment of the peach kernel extracts reduced the DNA damage by 30 % in irradiated groups as compared to that in non-treated control groups. The result indicates that the extracts shows radioprotective effect on lymphocyte DNA when assessed by the comet assay.

Fluorescent yield X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectroscopy is useful for analyzing local structure of specific elements in matrices. We developed an XAFS apparatus with a 100-pixel superconducting tunnel junction (STJ) detector array with a high sensitivity and a high resolution for light-element dopants in wide-gap semiconductors. An STJ detector has a pixel size of $100{\mu}m$ square, and an asymmetric layer structure of Nb(300 nm)-Al(70 nm)/AlOx/Al(70 nm)-Nb(50 nm). The 100-pixel STJ array has an effective area of $1mm^2$. The XAFS apparatus with the STJ array detector was installed in BL-11A of High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, Photon Factory (KEK PF). Fluorescent X-ray spectrum for boron nitride showed that the average energy resolution of the 100-pixels is 12 eV in full width half maximum for the N-K line, and The C-K and N-K lines are separated without peak tail overlap. We analyzed the N dopant atoms implanted into 4H-SiC substrates at a dose of 300 ppm in a 200 nm-thick surface layer. From a comparison between measured X-ray Absorption Near Edge Structure (XANES) spectra and ab initio FEFF calculations, it has been revealed that the N atoms substitute for the C site of the SiC lattice.

We have investigated effects of local damage accumulation for ultra-low energy As and B ion implant using highly efficient molecular dynamics(MD) scheme. We simulated ion implantation by MD simulation using recoil ion approximation (RIA) method and local cell damage accumulation (LCDA) model proposed in the paper. Local damage accumulation probability function consisted of deposited energy in a unit cell, implant dose rate, target material, projectile atom, and recoil event number. The simulated results were good agreement with the experimental and other simulated results. The MDRANGE results without damage accumulation were different from SIMS data in the tail region. We also simulated 2 dimensional dopant and damage profiles using the local damage accumulation model and recoil ion approximation method.
Blades of horizontal axis are nowadays made of composite materials. Generally, composite materials satisfy design provides lower weight and good stiffness, while laminate composites have often damages as like the delamination and cracks at the interface of laminates. The box spar and tail parts of a blade are composed of the CFRP/GFRP hybrid laminate composites. However, delamination and the interfacial crack often occur in the interface of CFRP/GFRP hybrid laminate composites under the mixed mode fracture condition, especially mode I and mode II. Therefore, there is a need for the evaluation of the mixed mode fracture behavior during the delamination of CFRP/GFRP hybrid laminates. This study shows the experimental results for the delamination fracture toughness in CFRP/GFRP hybrid laminate composites. Fracture toughness experiments and estimation are performed by using DMMB(Dissimilar mixed mode bending) specimen. The materials used in the test are a commercial woven type CFRP(Carbon fiber reinforced plastic) prepreg(CF3327) and UD type GFRP(Glass fiber reinforced plastic) prepreg(HD224A). A CFRP/GFRP hybrid laminate composite is composed by the 10 plies CFRP and GFRP prepreg for DMMB. A thickness of CFRP and GFRP layer is 2.5mm and 3.0mm, respectively. Also the fulcrum location which is a loading parameter is changed from 80 to 100mm on the specimen of length 120mm because it defines the ratio of mode I to mode II. In this study, the effects of the fulcrum location are evaluated in the viewpoint of energy release rate in mode I and mode II contribution. The results show that the delamination crack initiates at higher displacement and lower load according to the increase of the fulcrum location ratio. And the variation of the energy release rate for mode I and II contributions for the mode mixity are shown.

D.c conductivity and optical transmittance of amorphous ($As_2Se_3$)Ag, (x =0, 2, 5, 10mol%) thin films were measured in order to find effects of Ag additives on electrical and optical properties of the films. The d.c. activation energy and the optical gap decreased with increasing Ag contents the Urbach tail was approximately unchangeable for variation of Ag contents. For Ag contents of 5mol% and less, the rate of decrease of the d.c activation energy was more rapidly than that of the optical gap with increasing Ag contents. For Ag contents more than 5mol%, the rate of decrease of the d.c activation energy and the optical gap were nearly the same each other with decreasing Ag contents. So it was appeared that the Fermi level of the films comes close to the mobility edge for Ag contents of 5mol% and less, and the mobility edge comes close the Fermi level for Ag contents more than 5mol%.
