  • This paper is concerned with the compression test and forming process of flange by using virtual reality and analysis(simulation) program. This virtual manufacturing can be carried out one personal computer without any expensive devices for experiment. The virtual manufacturing composed of three modules such as the imput, calculation and the output modules on internet. Internet user can give the material's property and process parameters to the sever computer at the input module. On the calculation module, a simulator computes the virtual manufacturing process by analysis program and stores the data as a file. The output module is the program in which internet user can confirm virtual manufacturing results by showing tables, graphs, and 3D animation. This programs is designed by an internet language such as HTML, CGI, VRML and JAVA ,while analysis programs use the finite increasing, the virtual manufacturing technique will substitute many real experiments in the future.

  • The index file has been used a access database records effectively. The join operation in a relational database system requires a large execution time, especially in the case of handling large size tables. If the indexes are available on the joining attributes for both relations involved in the join and the join selectivity is relatively small, we can improve the execution time of the join operation. In this paper. we investigate the performance trade-offs of parallel index-based join algorithms where different indexing schemes are used. We also present a comparison of our index-based parallel join algorithms with the hash-based parallel join algorithm.

  • Since the pressure for recycling has been increasing, the disassembly, which is pre-process of recycling, has been becoming very important process. The goal of disassembly for recycling is to separate different materials to the greatest extent with least effort. DFD (Design for Disassembly) is a design philosophy for improving product designs for simpler or less costly disassembly operations. This paper proposes a new DFD methodology that can estimate the standard disassembly time and evaluate the disassemblablity of parts. We select some determining and influencing factors related with disassembly process, and estimate the assembly time using motion analysis. By the levels of the determining and influencing factors, the disassemblability is evaluated, and finally, the tables that include the time and score of disassembly are suggested.

  • A few commonly used correlation equations of the enthalpy of vaporization essential to the analysis of refrigeration cycles are reviewed. A new four-parameter correlation equation is proposed assuming that the enthalpy of vaporization could be represented with a linear form of the temperature and an additional function which slowly decreases as the temperature increases. It is not a common practice to measure the enthalpy of vaporization by experiment; therefore, performance of the new correlation is examined using numeric data from the ASHRAE tables for 22 pure substance refrigerants. The new correlation equation and other existing ones are fitted to the data optimizing the root mean squared deviation. All data points are weighted equally and NBP (normal boiling point) is used as a fixed point since the NBP is important for refrigeration application. The new four-parameter equation yields an average absolute deviation of 0.05% for 22 refrigerants which is smaller than those of other four-parameter equations, such as Guermouche-Vergnaud (0.08%), Aerebrot (0.13%), Radoz-Lyderson (0.08%), and Somayajulu four-parameter equation (0.08%).

  • This paper proposes context-based coding methods for variable length coding of inter-frame DCT coefficients. The proposed methods classify run-level symbols depending on the preceding coefficients. No extra overhead needs to be transmitted, since the information of the previously transmitted coefficients is used for classification. Two entropy coding methods, arithmetic coding and Huffman coding, are used for the proposed context-based coding. For Huffman coding, there is no complexity increase from the current standards by using the existing inter/intra VLC tables. Experimental results show that the proposed methods give ~ 19% bits gain and ~ 0.8 dB PSNR improvement for adaptive inter/intra VLC table selection, and ~ 37% bits gain and ~ 2.7dB PSNR improvement for arithmetic coding over the current standards, MPEG-4 and H.263. Also, the proposed methods obtain larger gain for small quantizaton parameters and the sequences with fast and complex motion. Therefore, for high quality video coding, the proposed methods have more advantage.

  • For electrical machine designers, core loss data are usually provided in the form of tables or curves of total loss versus flux density or frequency. The aim of this work is to propose a mathematical model for the iron losses prediction in soft magnetic material$ with any frequency and flux density. In this paper, three formulas for calculating the iron loss coefficients are discussed. And the coefficients are applied to calculate the iron loss of the 25kW high speed motor.

  • A complete study of the nutritive value of foods in Korea is required as essential basic data in the planning of food supply and demand, the implementation of national nutritive survey and the development of dietary improvement, nutritional education and various nutritional administration projects. The kinds, numbers and nutritive value of foods we consume in our everyday life vary markedly according to the weather, soils, and the economic system of the region. A study of the current status of Korea in terms of the nutritional value of foods consumed is urgently required. For this reason, a study was conducted of 29 kinds of foods including 5 kinds of mushrooms, 19 kinds of vegetables and 5 kinds of seafoods. The foods examined were randomly collected from major markets in Seoul. The results are summarized in the accompanying tables.

  • In this paper we calculate the subgroup size necessary for detecting the change of percent defective with several detection probabilities for orginal population fraction nonconforming p, changed population fraction nonconforming $p^*$, and the ratio k=$p^*$/p in the usage of p control charts. From our calculation we can know the error level of normal a, pp.oximation in detection probability calculation and recommend the subgroup size with lower error levels of normal a, pp.oximation, and then we show the reasonable subgroup size necessary for p, $p^*$, k, and the detection probability of the change of fraction nonconforming in a process. The information that we here show in tables will be useful when p control chart users decide the subgroup size in the p control chart users decide the subgroup size in the p control chart.

  • Tabulated results by Pode are used for computing the cable shape and cable tension in static equilibrium. This paper describes a technique using the integral form by Pode to give a simplified calculation of the cable functions at any desired value because in most practical cased the points of interest on the cable are not the points of reference on which the tables are based. Solving the nondimentional tension, $\tau$, defined by Pode in closed form reduces the integral in cable functions to a single integral. The technique using the integral form enables us to calculate the cable functionsin at any critical angle and at any point in case of a towing cable or certain cable-buoy systems.

  • The Plan for effective usage of living room must be suggested because families primarily use living room for public space. And from the viewpoint of function and decoration. the kind of furniture. furniture occupancy quantity. and the arrangement of furniture have much affect on using a dwelling space. So this study will suggest basic data for a good furniture usage through experiment using scale down models. To analyze the data. frequency and percentage were used by running SPSS $PC^+$ program. The major results are as follows. In an experiment using living room and furniture models(Scale 1/20). according to the size of space. TV sizes and furniture occupancy quantity were in proportion to size and space of the living room. Also they chose various types of tea-table and side-tables. In small spaces. subjects chose simple arrangement types (no sofa or I type sofa and cabinet). but in large spaces. they chose \ulcorner type or \ulcorner type sofa and cabinet.
