  • It is thought as more important for us to understand foreign countrie's culture in the modern society. because the world is becoming closer day by day thiough the develepment of communication and mass-media. Cross-cultural study could play a role to give an opportunity for people to understand foreign countrie’s culture easily. In this respect, this study was planned to find out similarity and difference between Danish and Korean folk tables made and used before the 20th century during the 18th-l9th century as a part of the comparative study of folk furniture between the two countries. It would be very interesting if we could find something valuable between Danish and Korean folk furniture. because they are located very far away each other geographically with less cultural communication before. There were more differences than similarity between the folk tables of the two countries and major findings were as followings : Firstly, there were many kinds of space-saving tables in Denmark. whereas only a few kinds of tables which could be removed easily after their usage were found in KoreaSecondly, Banish folk tables were more emphasized on the function rather than decoration. Whereas Korean folk tables were smaller lower and more decorative than Danish ones to fit their life-style of sitting on the floor.Thirdly, many Danish folk tables were made of bare wood. while Korean ones were finished by transparent lacquer or vegetable oil. Stone tops if tables were rare in both countries. Lastly. there were common factors in the design of legs of folk tables in both countries. It was interesting that animal legs such as deg tiger cat. lion, and eagle were used for design motif of the table legs. But trestle leg, cross leg and gate leg were not found in Korean folk tables. As a conclusion, throughout this study, it became obvious that life-style was one of the most important factor influencing on the design of furniture.

  • In the Web, the data is generally gathered automatically by Web servers and collected in server or access logs. However, as users access larger and larger amounts of data, query response times to extract information inevitably get slower. A method to resolve this issue is the use of summary tables. In this short note, we design a prototype of summary tables that can efficiently extract information from Web log data. We also present the relative performance of the summary tables against a sampling technique and a method that uses raw data.

  • Keys play a fundamental role in all data models. They allow database systems to uniquely identify data items, and therefore, promote efficient data processing in many applications. Due to this, support is required to discover keys. These include keys that are semantically meaningful for the application domain, or are satisfied by a given database. We study the discovery of keys from SQL tables. We investigate the structural and computational properties of Armstrong tables for sets of SQL keys. Inspections of Armstrong tables enable data engineers to consolidate their understanding of semantically meaningful keys, and to communicate this understanding to other stake-holders. The stake-holders may want to make changes to the tables or provide entirely different tables to communicate their views to the data engineers. For such a purpose, we propose data mining algorithms that discover keys from a given SQL table. We combine the key mining algorithms with Armstrong table computations to generate informative Armstrong tables, that is, key-preserving semantic samples of existing SQL tables. Finally, we define formal measures to assess the distance between sets of SQL keys. The measures can be applied to validate the usefulness of Armstrong tables, and to automate the marking and feedback of non-multiple choice questions in database courses.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop internal tables in Christian religion in the 5th edition of Korean Decimal Classification. The scope of the Christianity, its structure of various classification schemes, and the concepts of internal tables were analyzed. The contents of several textbooks were analyzed for the scope of the discipline and the classification schemes and internal tables of DDC, UDC, NDC, LCC, Classification of the Library of Union Theological Seminary and the Classification of the Korea Theological Library were compared. And then, internal tables in Bible, sermon, worship, church history were built and those tables were evaluated by librarians and experts in the fields. And finally, internal tables of the Christiainity and new headings were suggested. New internal tables in Christianity will increase the effectiveness of information retrieval and it will provide a foundation for developing internal tables in other disciplines.

  • Very accurate calibration is needed to index tables which are necessary for precision angle measurement. The repeatability of index table is less than 0.2 second, so that attentions should be paid to choosing devices to be used in the calibration of index tables. The auto- collimators have been used in the calibration of index tables, but the repeatability of auto- collimators is bad compared with that of index table. In place of autocollimators, we described a method which uses electric comparators which are possessed by most precision measurement laboratories. Electric comparators are set to measure small angle displacement without interrupting the rotation of index tables and the signals of two electric comparators are added to remove the run-out errors of the shafts of index tables. Two index tables have been calibrated simulataneously by this method and the measurement data have been analyzed by the least squares method. We compare the calibration results with those of methods using autocollimator and auto- matic autocollimator and are able to know that the data of electric comparator method lie between the data of autocollimator methods. The repeatability of measurement is less than 0.02 second. The electric comparator method is economical and capable of reducing the uncertainty of the measurement.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the faceted navigation function of next-generation library catalogs(NGC) using the tables in a classification scheme. Because the tables provide forms or contents of materials systematically, faceted navigation based on the tables can be as effective as faceted navigation based on language, publishing date, or class-level subject facet. Therefore, class numbers based on the Korean Decimal Classification (KDC) were examined and the characteristics of schedules and tables were analyzed. As a result, suggestions to improve faceted navigation was provided. Moreover, the method using the tables does not need additional resources to derive facets because the facet analysis process is always carried out in the classification process.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of implementing the HACCP system on foodservice establishments. At first, the hygienic conditions were measured by microbiological hazard analyses of the cooking utensils and working areas. In order to solve the detected problems, the HACCP system was implemented, after what was considered a sufficient settlement period following the initial assessment, then microbiological verification was performed again. In relation to the cooking utensils and equipment(kitchen knives, cutting boards, knives for shredding vegetables, refrigerators, baskets, barts, working tables, preparation tables, tungs, dish-clothes and drains) the microbiological inspection on the Total Plate Count, Coliforms, Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes, were conducted with regard to the working areas(working tables, preparation tables, seasoning's shelves, serving tables, drinking water tables, refrigerators, storage rooms and dining tables), the Total Plate Count and Fungi were also examined. According to the microbiological hazard analyses there were many problems, especially with cutting boards, baskets, barts, dish-clothes and sinkballs. However, by introducing the HACCP system, the microbiological hazard levels were able to be controlled and lowered, and the total aerial bacteria in the working areas of the foodservice establishments were detected at levels below 6 CFU/plate.

  • The lift table summarized and calculated the life expectancy at each ages according to aging. In this study, we tried to re-classify and summarized the application of the life table because the life table can be applied to several research and industry area. We utilized the whole papers published in Korea and international until 2011 and we considered several classification standards based on application, base period, gender, and observation period. Each standard divides the life tables into two or three categories. The standard of application groups them into general and applied life tables. The standard of base period is divided into two parts: abridge life table using the unit of 5 years and complete life table of one year. According to gender, life tables are classified in male, female, and unisex life tables. According to complete life table, they are period life tables and cohort life tables. This study contributes to inform how life tables can be employed in many other areas by analyzing how the life tables are constructed.
