Recently, regulations of the government and concerns of people give rise to the interest in exhaust and intake noise of passenger car as much as other vehicles. In these demands, performance prediction software with hybrid method was developed at first. Secondly, robust design was used for improving the noise reduction capacity of intake system with the performance prediction software. On the basis of the existing design, length and radios of each component that was thought to effect on the capacity of intake system was selected. The factors were arranged by using L18 table of orthogonal array and optimum value was obtained.

This study aims to separate hydrograph into baseflow and event water to calculate baseflow rate during a rainfall in small catchments, Yuseong, Daejeon, The hydrograph of stream during a period with no excess rainfall will decay. The discharge is composed entirely of groundwater contributions. During the period, the Cl concentration of the stream water can be regarded as being in equilibrium with that of the groundwater. Using Cl as a conservative tracer, two-component hydrograph separations were performed from end point of the period to next end point. The required data were obtained by monitoring of the surface water table, along with discharge rate of stream. Cl concentration of rainfall, surface water were measured and recorded. Hydrograph separation, a mixing model using chemical tracer is applied to chemical hydrograph separation technique. These results show that baseflow rates are 31.6% of rainfall in the catchments during study period.

The predictions derived from Sternberg's triangular theory of love were tested in order to explain the love relationships in marriage among Korean people. We were first interested in whether the subjective love experiences of respondents could be characterized by three components: intimacy passion and commitment we then attempted to examine the time course of each component as the marital relationships continued. 16897 married men and women were asked to complete the questionnaire including the love scale developed by researchers based on Sernberg's and other researchers' work. The results are as follows: First the love experienced by Korean men and women in their marriage can be classified by 3 dimensions: intimacy passion and commitment. Secon intimacy is the most powerful indicator of love in marital rlationships follows bgy passion and commitment. Third each of the 3 dimensions of marital love showed a U-shaped pattern as the marriage continued. Fourth commitment was more table than the other 2 dimensions throughout the marriage. The resultso f the study showed that Sternberg's triangular theory of love is useful to explain the marital love among Korean people.

General components, free sugars, and free amino acids about Zostera marina which is much distributing and producing along the coastlines of Korea have been separated and identified through Ion exchange resin and Paper chromatography method. So distrigushed are sugars contained that this was quantitated by Bertrand method. 1) The result of the general component analysis of Zostera marina shows that there are much free sugars. 2) According to Bertrand method sugar containment quantitated from terrestrial stem and subterranean stem on Po-hang and Ko-hung areas is much more in terrestrial stem than subterranean stem. 3) Seven kinds of sugars are used in experiments(Table 2) among there glucose, fructose and sucrose which keep the sweetness are very much contained. 4) Shown in Fig. 3 ten kinds of free amino acids inspected from experimental liquid by Paper chromatography are separated, which are known, and one spot which in unknown is additionally separated, and in which four kinds of essential amino acid to nutrient are contained.

In this study, an innovative computer support has been suggested to improve differential perception of the students. Research has been conducted on a calculus class which has 35 students. A semi-structured interview has been reported in the study. By this interview, it was tried to make differential concept more understandable by using Micro Soft Excel component of the well-known MS Office software. By this aim, students have been asked to integrate a simple function by using MS Excel. At the end of the study, it was observed that differential concept made more sense in students' minds than previous.

In this paper, we descried a bottom-up document structure analysis method in bilingual Korean-English document. We proposed a character segmentation method based on the layout information of connected component of each character. In many researches, a document has been analyzed into text blocks and graphics. We analyzed a document into four parts: text, table, graphic, and separator. A text is recursively subdivided into text blocks, text lines, words, and characters. To extract the character in bilingual text, we proposed a new method of word of word separation of Korean or English. Futhermore, we used a character merging and segmentation method in accordance with the properties of Hangul on the Korean word blocks. Experimental results on the various documents show that the proposed method is very effectively operated on the document structure analysis and the character segmentation.

An experiment was performed using the large-scale test facility (LSTF), which simulated a 1% vessel upper head small-break loss-of-coolant accident with an accident management (AM) measure under an assumption of total-failure of high-pressure injection (HPI) system in a pressurized water reactor (PWR). In the LSTF test, liquid level in the upper head affected break flow rate. Coolant was manually injected from the HPI system into cold legs as the AM measure when the maximum core exit temperature reached 623 K. The cladding surface temperature largely increased due to late and slow response of the core exit thermocouples. The AM measure was confirmed to be effective for the core cooling. The RELAP5/MOD3.3 code indicated insufficient prediction of primary coolant distribution. The author conducted uncertainty analysis for the LSTF test employing created phenomena identification and ranking table for each component. The author clarified that peak cladding temperature was largely dependent on the combination of multiple uncertain parameters within the defined uncertain ranges.

There occurred a moderate size earthquake of Magnitude 5 in Whagae-Myun, Hadong-GUn, Kyongsangnam-Do on July 4, 1936. It caused severe damage to the buildings and other structures in Sang-Gye-Sa, a Buddhist Temple. The top component of a five-story stone pagoda was tipped over and fell down to the ground during the earthquake. In order to have accurate and quantitative estimate of the peak acceleration level of that earthquake, a full-scale model was constructed through rigorous verification process. The complete model was mounted on a shaking table and subjected to the dynamic tests. Two kinds of tests were performed: exploratory test and fragility test. The exploratory test was done with low acceleration level. In the fragility test, the behavior of the model was carefully monitored while increasing the acceleration level. The construction details of the model are provided and test procedures are reported. Finally important test results are presented and their implications are discussed.
