  • Generally a TV broadcast video of ball sports is composed from those of multiple cameras strategically mounted around a stadium under the supervision of a master director. The director decides which camera the current view should be from and how the camera work should be. In this paper, such a decision rule is based on the 3D location of ball which is the result of multi-view tracking. While current TV sports broadcast are accompanied with professional cameramen and expensive equipments, our system requires few video cameras and no cameraman. The resulted videos were stable and informative enough to convey the flow of a match.

  • In recent years, researches regarding optimal placement of CCTV(Closed-circuit Television) cameras via architecture modeling has been conducted. However, for analyzing surveillance coverage through actual human movement, the application of VA(Video Analytics) function of IP(Internet Protocol) cameras has not been studied. This paper compares two methods using data captured from real-world cameras and data acquired from a virtual environment. In using real cameras, we develop GUI(Graphical User Interface) to be used as a logfile which is stored hourly and daily through VA functions and to be used commercially for placement of products inside a shop. The virtual environment was constructed to emulate an real world such as the building structure and the camera with its specifications. Moreover, suitable placement of the camera is done by recognizing obstacles and the number of people counted within the camera's range of view. This research aims to solve time and economic constraints of actual installation of surveillance cameras in real-world environment and to do feasibility study of virtual environment.

  • A three dimensional vision is obtained by stereoscopic view using a modified commercial TV set and matching color filter glasses. Two video signals from two CCTV cameras are connected to the RGB (red, green, blue) inputs of picture tube selecting two different colors for two video signals. A synchronizing signal drives a CCTV camera and the color TV set. On the other hand, a delayed synchronizing signal drives the other CCTV camera shifting its image on display. This shift is used in correcting image distortion.

  • Nowadays there are various smart devices and development with the development of smart phones and that can be attached to the human body wearable computing device has been in the spotlight. In this paper, we proceeded developing wearable devices in watch type which can detect user's movement and developing a system which connects the wearable devices to smart TVs, or smart phones so that users can save and manage their physical information in those devices. Health care wearable devices already existing save information by connecting their systems to smart phones. And, smart TV health applications usually include motion detecting systems using cameras. However, there is a limit when connecting smart phone systems to different devices from various companies. Also, in case of smart TV, because some devices may not have cameras, there can be a limit for users who wants to connect their devices to smart TVs. Wearable device and user information collected by using the smart phone and when it is possible to exercise and manage anywhere. This information can also be confirmed by the smart TV applications. By using this system will be able to take advantage of the study of the behavior of the future work of the user more accurately be measured in recognition technology and other devices.

  • The CCTV, closed circuit television, system is the most popular method to monitor some specific area. The CCTV-based monitoring system is composed of a lot of cameras installed the areas, and monitors to display the vision through the cameras. However, these systems have limitations to prevent some problems or to cope with the problems promptly, because they can carry out only the function that shows us the analogue images of the cameras. Especially, urban transit service area is the space where many people crowd in all at the same time and the space is not only wide but also distributed sporadically. This paper presents the efficient plan for video-based monitoring system to monitor urban transit service area. To build the efficient monitoring system, it is necessary to devide the monitoring area to appropriate sectors that should be composed to be displayed at a time. If the proposed method is used to construct the video-based monitoring system, the operating officers in the urban transit have the more direct and real images.

  • In stereoscopic television, there is a trade-off between visual comfort and 3-dimensional (3D) impact with respect to the baseline-stretch of a 3DTV camera. It is necessary to adjust the baseline-stretch at an appropriate the distance depending on the contents of a scene if we want to obtain a subjectively optimal quality of an image. However, it is very hard to obtain a small baseline-stretch using commercially available cameras of broadcasting quality where the sizes of the lens and CCD module are large. In order to overcome this limitation, we attempt to freely control the baseline-stretch of a stereoscopic camera by synthesizing the virtual views at the desired location of interval between two cameras. This proposed technique is based on the stereo matching and view synthesis techniques. We first obtain a dense disparity map using a hierarchical stereo matching with the edge-adaptive multiple shifted windows. Then, we synthesize the virtual views using the disparity map. Simulation results with various stereoscopic images demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed technique.

  • The most important subject in developing agricultural robots for fruit harvesting is to detect accurately the location of a fruit about the given coordinate system. This study was carried out to develop an image processing algorithm which enables finding out the three dimensional locations of a fruit. The digital image processing device consisted of an optosensor (Closed-circuit TV camera), image processing interface board (Digitizer) and microcomputer (IBM PC/AT). A stereo-image processing method using the two cameras attached to the manipulator was evaluated through experiment with apples. The accuracy and quickness of detecting the location of apples by this method was not satisfactory. The maximum errors of the detected locations by the stereo-image processing method in x-, Y-, and z- directions were 3, 4 and 4 cm, respectively. The maximum time required to get the rectangular coordinate data of a fruit was about 2 minutes.

  • Nowadays, people get images from various media like TV, magazines, newspaper, internet. Such images directly influence people's thoughts and lives, either consciously or unconsciously. In the past, reproduction devices have been mainly used in reproducing an original scene accurately. Lately, the cognitive preference became a key value in the scene reproduction, and it was affected by the surrounding media. Recently, the most commonly used device in reproducing an original scene is the camera. The core of an image is the light, in other words, the exposure. Most digital cameras are set to adjust exposure automatically in order to reproduce a scene physically as identical as possible. However, physically right exposure does not always give images that people prefers. Numbers of tests were done to find the exposure value that makes an image cognitively more preferred. Skin tones which are highly sensitive to color and changes in density has been used in the tests. A male and a female model have been used to classify changes in cognitive preference due to gender differences.

  • When an applicant requests the emergency situation call or safe return service using a smart device, the smart surveillance service can select the CCTV(closed circuit television) cameras around the applicant using applicant's location information, then automatically takes a photograph to track the applicant. Since the surrounding CCTV camera shoots the applicant continuously using location information and the applicant can be observed by the monitor agent in real time, this service can be very helpful in an applicant's emergency situation or safe return. The existing smart surveillance service does not consider the priority of the emergency situation call and safe return service. Therefore, there is the disadvantage that the applicant who requests an emergency situation call service can not be photographed when safe return service has already preoccupied CCTV cameras which are capable of taking a picture of the applicant. The proposed smart surveillance service improves this disadvantage by using service priority.
