In this paper, we propose a multi-view video codec for 3DTV system. The proposed algorithm is not only to reduce the temporal and spatial redundancy but also to reduce the redundancy among each view. With these results, we can improve the coding efficiency for multi-view video sequences. In order to reduce the redundancy of each view more efficiently, we define the assembled image(AI) that is generated by the global disparity compensation of each view. In addition, the proposed algorithm is based on MPEG-2 structure so that we can easily implement 3DTV system without changing the conventional 2D digital TV system. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs very well. It also performs better than MPEG-2 simulcast coding method. The newly proposed codec also supports the view scalability, accurate temporal synchronization among multiple views and random access capability in view dimension.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the nurses' image perceived by nursing and health allied college students in Korea. Method: The data was collected from October 15th to November 15th, 2004. Subjects were composed of 679 students in three-year Junior College. The data was analyzed by SPSS 12.0 PC+ Win. The difference of nurse' image among departments and locations of Junior College were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA and Tukey test. Result: The mean score of nurses' image 3.1 point of the total 5 point. Nurses' image is showed significantly difference according to the departments; the department of nursing (3.54), physical therapy (3.01), radiology (2.97), emergency medical technology (2.76) and clinical pathology (2.67). Nurses' image was significantly differed among the 4 domains according to 5 departments; 'the qualification of nurse', 'the role of nurse', 'the interpersonal relationship of nurse', 'the social participation of nurse'. Nurses' image formed through directly contacting with nurses' and seeing nurses' action (69.1%), watching nurse in TV drama (15.9%). Conclusion: It is considered that nursing and health allied college students were affected by inter-communications with nurses' more than by mass media.

3D stereoscopic display is becoming increasingly common. Most stereoscopic displays still require the viewers to wear 3D glasses to watch 3D contents. As it is widely known, especially in shutter glass method, 3D glasses normally cause to reduce the perceived colorfulness and sharpness considerably as well as brightness. In this paper, we have estimated and analyzed the degradation of perceptual brightness in 3D images viewed through the shutter glasses by using CIECAM02 model. This study focuses on loss of colorfulness and sharpness when PDP-TV is watched at 3D mode in shutter-glass type 3D-TV. We analyze perceptual colorfulness and sharpness of 3D display with glasses and propose a method to compensate 3D colorfulness and sharpness for the best 3D experience.

Research on recovering original images from captions has been widely done in a reusability point of view. In usual, dynamic images imported from foreign countries often have captions of foreign languages, so it is necessary to translate them into one's language. For the natural exchange of captions without loss of original images, recovering the images corresponding to captions is necessary. However, though recovering original images is very important, systematic analysis on the characteristics of captions has not been done yet. Therefore, in this paper, we first survey the classification methods of TV programs at academic worlds, broadcasting stations, and broadcasting organizations, and then analyses the frequency of captions, importance of caption contents, and necessity of recovering according to their types. Also, we analyze the characteristics of captions which are significantly recognized to be necessary to recover, and use them as recovering information.

Since eco friendly and power saving products recently got into the limelight for the protection of environment, LED light technology has caught much of attention as the next generation broadcasting lighting. The newly introduced light source has such advantages as higher efficiency, longer life and its slim and compact forms leading to conveniency in installations. When combined with digital light control it gives more dynamic and various features to lighting. In this paper, used CIE standard for measuring light sources by their purposes and forms to make a comparative analysis of spectral distribution and color rendition of LED light source to those of existing lighting systems. By means of the cast shadowing and color reproduction tests I also tried to figure out the effects of LED lighting design on TV visuals where higher quality is crucial with the audience's increasing demands for quality image.

Problems and improvemental measures for the historical inquiry of TV drama costumes and for the reproduction of them were investigated. For this study, the MBC historical drama 'The way of the Great King' started on march 24 in 1998 and ended on september 26 in 1998 was selected as the subject. The reasons why the drama was selected are as follows. First, the historical background was the time of King Young ＆ drama introduced various kinds of costumes Joungjo, which is the starting era of traditional costumes peculiar to Korea. Second, the based on the historical inquiry of that time. There is a limitation in the process of historical inquiry about the costumes of that time because we don't have enough research data such as relics, remains, references, literary works, pictures, etc. Although, in some cases, exact historical inquiry about the costumes were made, they could not be reproduced in the original forms due to several reasons: the absence of the materials of that time, structural changes including length and size for convenience of action, alterations of the manufacturing method for the reuse, addition of the gorgeous and various olors for the enhancement of image quality, variations in colors according to the actor's character, modulations of the structures and colors by the producer's intention, and the restraints in time and money for manufacturing. In view of these situations, it seems to be difficult for us to settle the problems occurring between the historical inquiry about the traditional costumes and the reproduction of them in drama. However, the costumes presented in historical drama have the meanings to provide informations of that time with TV audience. Therefore I think that it is necessary to narrow the gap between the historical inquiry of TV drama costumes and for the reproduction of hem, First, It should be restrained that each broadcasting stations show the costumes under the similar situations of the same age in different ways. Second, We need to unify the inquiry systems concerning historical drama costumes, In addition to this, it is also necessary for broadcasting stations to establish internet sites of traditional costumes for communication.

In this paper, the subjective video quality assessment of the content quality was to examine by the assessors about the three content quality of HD, Up-scaling UHD, 4K UHD Native that is currently broadcasted. The comparative assessment was conducted using three types of TV sets, 55, 65, 75 inches, at a distance of 2.5 meters which is the distance of watching TV in general households. Among the participants who took part in the video quality evaluating experiment and the questionnaire survey, the answering data of the final 169 persons were adopted after removing the data of 4 persons who answered inadequately in the evaluation of the video quality. The effects of gender, preference of program genre, size of TV sets were analyzed statistically using SPSS 25.0 analysis package. In addition to these, the objective video quality assessment through the measuring instrument was performed, and compared with the results of subjective video quality assessment.

The results of 2000 Population Census explains the context of a series of incidents happening in the Latino television broadcasting market recently. That is, the rapid growth of Latino population so fast as overtaking the Black population has needed media as a means of Latino's own social interests and communication. In this context, the television broadcasting market as a marketing means of capitals targeting for the Latinos has experienced more rapid changes. In other words, there has been some changes in the Latino television broadcasting market which divided by two major networks, Univision and Telemundo. It was 1970s when Latino media started to be considered as an important framework to understand the problems of the Latinos in American society. Experiencing the human rights movement of the 1960s, the Latino communities' sense of identity realized the importance of media as an expression of themselves from the interest on the factors which directly determine the quality of their life such as the immigration, education, health, and employment. The anglo media plays a role in introducing the Latinos and forming the images of the Latinos to the non-Latinos. It can be possible to criticize that the anglo media propagates the unilateral image of the Latinos by the mainstream white society, the stereotyped images of the Latinos. The spanish media targeting for the Latinos has grown continuously, combining the inside needs of forming the identity of the Latinos and communication and outside needs of commercialism. On the other hand, the needs for the programs based on the American Latinos has been increased, along with the increase of the Latino media based on the dual languages or English. This paper reviewed the history of the Latino media briefly, and then examined the relationship between the Latinos and the media through the television broadcasting which influence the Latino's everyday life enormously.

Media like TV programs and movies has deeply rooted in the public and it can supply affluent informations on special tourist attractions during short time relatively. Media can make the image of special objects and destinations recreated and viewers induced to the special places. Because of these positive effects, many countries and self governing bodies having tried place marketing through media have done their best to raise the image of their tourist attractions and induce a visit. So, most of studies about the effect relations between media and tourist attractions have been done about the confirmation of the impact relation between media and the image raising of tourist attractions and between media and the tourists's visit inducement. This study reconfirms the results of the existing studies and confirms whether the difference of media program genre causes that of the impact relation between media and the image raising of tourist attractions and between media and the tourists's visit inducement. In order to confirm these purposes, 3 assumptions are established and are proved through statistical analyses based on a questionnaire. According to the results of these analyses, all of 3 established assumptions : assumption 1, the impact relation between media program genres and the image of tourist attraction, assumption 2, the impact relation between the image of tourist attractions and behavior intention, and assumption 3, the impact relation between media program genres and behavior intention, are partly accepted.

Characteristics of digital broadcasting are multi-channel, high-definition and multi-function. especially, multi-function is enable us to do a variety of services except for an image and a voice. This paper, therefore, is analyzed propagation environment in Busan into ETRI model application about 지상파 DMB service. It takes to be simulated in Busan area around the mountains area and high building. So it measures the electric field strength in standards. Distribution pattern are similar with mutually in the 이론 and real measurement. Even areas are almost the same, but urban areas and mountains are different with mutually. Therefore, we conclude that ETRI propagation model and theoretical modeling in a free space in Busan area is not suitable.
