The major purpose of this study is to exactly purpose of this study is to exactly measure the impacts of tourist industry on regional development. Through the regional input-output analysis, we found some critical facts: (1) Input coefficients are relatively high in those industries as fish products, food and drink products, and printing and publishing. (2) Input coefficients are high in fiber and apparel products, and other manufac-turing. (3) Induced production effects are high in chemical and coal products, fish products, food and fish products, printing and publishing, and public administration for Sokcho. (4) As for the induced employment effect, food and lodging, other services, wholesale and retail show high coefficients. (5) As for the location quotients, food and lodging, fish products, transportation and ware housing are identified as basic industries. Through the questionnaire survey, we also found some important facts: (1) Residents tend to evaluate employment effects higher than the income effects from resort-related development. (2) Pollution, forest demolition, general price increase, and traffic congestions are more serious than ever reported. (3) Willingness to participate in resort development is high, but is discouraged by the lack of regional capital. Based on these findings, we suggest some future directions of tourist industry: (1) blocking the leakage of income produced in tourist and tourist industry, (2) connection between fishery and tourist industry, (3) development of tourist route, and (4) administrative reshuffling that helps joint development between private and public sectors.

  • As the quality and level of life rise, many people are doing search for various pieces of information about tourism. In addition, users prefer the search methods reflecting individual opinions such as SNS and blogs to the official websites of tourist destination. Many of previous studies focused on a recommendation system for tourist courses based on the GPS information and past travel records of users, but such a system was not capable of recommending the latest tourist trends. This study thus set out to collect and analyze the latest SNS data to recommend tourist destination of high interest among users. It also aimed to propose an altered TSP algorithm to recommend the optimal routes to the recommended destination within an area and a system to recommend the optimal tourist courses by applying the Elasticsearch engine. The altered TSP algorithm proposed in the study used the location information of users instead of Dijkstra's algorithm technique used in previous studies to select a certain tourist destination and allowed users to check the recommended courses for the entire tourist destination within an area, thus offering more diverse tourist destination recommendations than previous studies.

This research was conducted at the tourism sector in West Java, Indonesia. The participants were Muslim foreign tourists who were traveling to West Java, Indonesia. The total number of participants in the research was 200. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. Hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling methods with AMOS version 23. The exogenous variables in this research consisted of the quality of the destination and Islamic attribute of destination. Tourist satisfaction was an endogenous variable in this research. We used a quantitative approach and structural equation modeling to examine the research hypotheses. The results showed that there was a positive and significant effect of the quality of destination on the tourist satisfaction, and the quality of destination positively affected Islamic attribute of destination, but Islamic attribute of destination had no significant effect on tourist satisfaction. We also found that Islamic attribute of destination did not mediate the relation between quality of destination and tourist satisfaction. We provided recommendations to strengthen or improve the quality of destination in order to increase tourist satisfaction.

  • The purpose of this study is to figure out the place characteristics of preferable city tourist attractions through the contents analysis of non-academic literatures such as tourist guidebooks and web materials. The most preferable Seoul tourist attractions were selected by their frequency in literatures including Namsan and Hangang as 'natural' places, Dugsu Palace and Gyungbok Palace as 'historical' places, Itaewon and Daehak-ro as 'lively-cultural' places that were classified by their relativistic character. The main findings of the research are as follows. The essential place characteristics of tourist attractions were synthesized in urban, regional and place scale respectively. While 'contrast' was found to be the most distinguished character of the tourist attractions in the urban context, 'connectivity' was found to be the most distinguished character of the tourist attractions in the regional context. In addition, both 'visibility' and 'experience' were found to be the most distinguished characters of the tourist attractions in the place context. The characteristics of these places seem to be the universal fascination factors of city tourist attractions currently recognized by ordinary citizens. We expect to further strengthen the city identity and the city tourism effect by adopting those research results systematically to the urban environment. Therefore, it is needed to vitalize the urban tourist attractions that we make them to be more 'contrasting' with urban areas surrounding them, more 'connective' with vicinity areas and more 'visibly fascinating' and 'experienced actively and meaningfully' in each place of tourist attractions.

  • The development of the fourth industry has enabled users to quickly share a lot of data online. We can analyze big data on information about tourist attractions and users' experiences and opinions using artificial intelligence. It can also analyze the association between characteristics of users and types of tourism. This paper analyzes individual characteristics, recommends customized tourist sites and proposes a system to provide the sacred texts of recommended tourist sites as AR services. The system uses machine learning to analyze the relationship between personality type and tourism type preference. Based on this, it recommends tourist attractions according to the gender and personality types of users. When the user finishes selecting a tourist destination from the recommendation list, it visualizes the information of the selected tourist destination with AR.
