Synthesis and Hydroxyl Radicals Scavenging Activity of 2-Pyridine-acetyl-N-trimethyl Chitosan Chloride

  • A novel chitosan derivative with double quaternary ammonium salt-2-pyridine-acetyl-N-trimethyl chitosan chloride (PATMCS) was synthesized and the antioxidant activity of PATMCS against hydroxyl radicals was assessed. The results indicated that PATMCS had potent hydroxyl scavenging activity. The $IC_{50}$ of PATMCS was 0.13 mg/mL. PATMCS showed 100% scavenging effect at a dose of 0.8 mg/mL which markedly better than that of N-trimethyl chitosan chloride (TMCS). It was confirmed that quaternary chitosan derivatives showed potent antioxidant activity. PATMCS has double quaternary ammonium salt structure in the molecules. Therefore, the antioxidant activity of PATMCS was better than TMCS. The above results are theoretically fundamental for further development and making use of chitosan resources to prepare new antioxidants.

Synthesis of spherical silica aerogel powder by emulsion polymerization technique

  • Spherical silica aerogel powders were fabricated via an emulsion polymerization method from a water glass. A water-in-oil emulsion, in which droplets of a silicic acid solution are emulsified with span 80 (surfactant) in n-hexane, was produced by a high power homogenizer. After gelation, the surface of the spherical silica hydrogels was modified using a TMCS (trimethylchlorosilane)/n-hexane solution followed by solvent exchange from water to n-hexane. Hydrophobic silica wet gel droplets were dried at 80 ℃ under ambient pressure. A perfect spherical silica aerogel powder between1 to 12 ㎛ in diameter was obtained and its size can be controlled by mixing speed. The tapping density, pore volume, and BET surface area of the silica aerogel powder were approximately 0.08 g·cm-3, 3.5 ㎤·g-1 and 742 ㎡·g-1, respectively.

상입하에서의 실리카 에어로겔의 합성 및 박막코팅(I) (Synthesis of Silica Aerogel and Thin Film Coating at Ambient)

  • TMCS(Trimethylchlorosilane)로 표면개질한 습윤겔을 에탄올에 재분산시켜 코팅용 재분산 실리카 졸을 제조하였고 제조된 졸을 실리콘 기판에 스핀 코팅한 후 상압 하에서 건조(8$0^{\circ}C$) 및 열처리(>25$0^{\circ}C$)하여 열처리온도에 따른 박막의 물성 변화를 관찰하였다. 습윤겔의 재분산시 안정한 재분산 실리카 졸의 제조를 위한 최적 재분산 조건을 습윤겔:에탄올=1g110$m\ell$로 하였고, 이렇게 제조된 재분산 실리카 졸의 농도와 점도는 각각 0.11 M, 2.0-2.2cP였으며 평균 졸 입자크기는 약 30nm정도였다. 1500rpm, 10회 스핀 코팅한 후 8$0^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 건조, 45$0^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 열처리에 의하여 굴절율이 약 1.14, 두께가 400nm정도인 균열이 없는 박막을 얻을 수 있었다.

차세대 전술이동통신체계 무선 MSAP 메쉬망을 위한 혼합형 인증기법 (A Hybrid Authentication Scheme for Wireless MSAP Mesh Networks in the Next-Generation TMCS)

  • 본 논문에서는 차세대 전술이동통신체계에서의 무선 MSAP 메쉬망에서 효율적으로 인증키를 관리하고 전술이동 통신체계의 부하를 줄이는 새로운 혼합형 인증기법을 제안한다. 또한 각각의 MSAP와 TMFT가 인증받는 알고리즘이 다르므로 인증요청 받은 MSAP의 제어대(ACR)에서 EAP 패킷의 Code 부분을 확인하여 처리하는 방안도 제안한다. 기존의 방식에서 각 MSAP가 체계접속을 위해서는 중앙집중형 인증기법과 분산형 인증기법을 활용할 수 있는데 각각은 문제점을 안고 있다. 즉, 중앙집중형 인증기법은 MSAP의 빈번한 가입 및 탈퇴로 인한 과다한 지연 문제가 있고 분산형 인증기법은 인증에 필요한 정보를 사전에 공유해야 하는 문제점이 있다. 이러한 문제점을 보완하는 동시에 전술적인 환경에서 악의적인 MSAP의한 접속거부와 네트워크 보안성을 극대화하기 위해서는 보다 효과적인 인증기법이 요구된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 미 인증된 MSAP가 EAP-TLS 기법을 기반으로 전술이동통신네트워크 진입시 초기 인증과 이웃 MSAP간의 상호인증 등 다양한 시나리오를 군의 특수한 환경에 맞추어 구체적으로 제시하고 성능평가를 통해 혼합형 인증기법이 군 전술환경에 효율적으로 적용될 수 있음을 보였다.

방전플라즈마 소결 공정 적용 전이금속 카바이드 서멧의 소결 및 기계적 특성 (Sintering Behavior and Mechanical Property of Transition Metal Carbide-Based Cermets by Spark Plasma Sintering)

  • Transition metal carbides (TMCs) are used to process difficult-to-cut materials due to the trend of requiring superior wear and corrosion properties compared to those of cemented carbides used in the cutting industry. In this study, TMC (TiC, TaC, Mo2C, and NbC)-based cermets were consolidated by spark plasma sintering at 1,300 ℃ (60 ℃min) with a pressure of 60 MPa with Co addition. The sintering behavior of TMCs depended exponentially on the function of the sintering exponent. The Mo2C-6Co cermet was fully densified, with a relative density of 100.0 %. The Co-binder penetrated the hard phase (carbides) by dissolving and re-precipitating, which completely densified the material. The mechanical properties of the TMCs were determined according to their grain size and elastic modulus: TiC-6Co showed the highest hardness of 1,872.9 MPa, while NbC-6Co showed the highest fracture toughness of 10.6 MPa*m1/2. The strengthened grain boundaries due to high interfacial energy could cause a high elastic modules; therefore, TiC-6Co showed a value of 452 ± 12 GPa.

Functionalized magnetite / silica nanocomposite for oily wastewater treatment

  • A new magnetite-silica core/shell nanocomposite ($Fe_3O4@nSiO_2@mSiO_2$) was synthesized and functionalized with trimethylchlorosilane (TMCS). The prepared nanocomposite was used for the removal of diesel oil from aqueous media. The characterization of magnetite-silica nanocomposite was studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), surface area measurement, and vibrating sample magnetization (VSM). Results have shown that the desired structure was obtained and surface modification was successfully carried out. FTIR analysis has confirmed the presence of TMCS on the surface of magnetite silica nanocomposites. The low- angle XRD pattern of nanocomposites indicated the mesoscopic structure of silica shell. Furthermore, TEM results have shown the core/shell structure with porous silica shell. Adsorption kinetic studies indicated that the nanocomposite was able to remove 80% of the oil contaminant during 2 h and fit well with the pseudo-second order model. Equilibrium studies at room temperature showed that the experimental data fitted well with Freundlich isotherm. The magnetic property of nanocomposite facilitated the separation of solid phase from aqueous solution.

유-무기 하이브리드 코팅액 제조를 위한 지르코니아 표면의 소수화 개질 연구 (Study on the hydrophobic modification of zirconia surface for organic-inorganic hybrid coatings)

  • 백색을 띄고 물리적 화학적으로 안정한 지르코니아는 열전도도가 낮고 강도와 인성, 내식성이 우수하여 단열재, 내화물과 같은 고온 재료와 각종 산업용 구조세라믹스에 사용되고 있다. 이러한 지르코니아를 낮은 경도 및 굴절률 등과 같은 단점을 가진 고분자 코팅제에 도입하게 되면 화학적, 전기적, 광학적인 특성이 향상된다. 이와 같이 유기 소재에 무기 소재를 혼합하여 사용하는 유-무기 하이브리드 코팅을 목적으로 본 연구에서는 지르코니아 표면에 trimethylchlorosilane(TMCS)과 hexamethyldisilazane(HMDZ)을 사용하여 실릴화반응을 통한 $-CH_3$기를 도입하여 소수성을 나노지르코니아 표면에 도입하였다. 소수화된 지르코니아 표면에서의 TMCS와 HMDZ에 의해 도입된 $Si-CH_3$의 존재는 FT-IR ATR spectroscopy를 통해 확인하였고, silicon 원소의 존재를 FE-SEM/EDS와 ICP-AES를 통해 확인하였다. 또한, 개질 전후의 지르코니아를 아크릴레이트 단량체에 분산하여 침강속도를 확인하여 분산성이 향상되는 것을 확인하였다. 지르코니아 입자의 크기 및 분포는 입도 분석기를 통해 확인하였으며, BET 분석을 통해 개질 반응 전후의 비표면적은 $18m^2/g$ 정도로 큰 변화가 없었다.

Preparation of Cucurbituril Anchored Silica Gel by Cross Polymerization and Its Chromatographic Applications

  • A new chromatographic stationary phase has been prepared by cross polymerization between allylsilica and perallyloxycucurbit[6]uril and characterized by elemental analysis and FT-IR spectroscopy. The double endcapping has been proven to improve the separation efficiency of the cucurbituril-based stationary phase material. The first end-capping was carried out when allylsilica was made. The second end-capping was done as the final step of the whole process, and the use of a mixture of hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) and trimethylchlorosilane (TMCS) as an end-capping reagent was found better than the use of only HMDS or TMCS. Our stationary phase has shown generally good results in separation of nonpolar and polar analytes. This phase showed even better separation performance than the commercial C18 phase for the case where hostguest chemistry was properly incorporated in solute retention.

GC-MS를 이용한 담즙내 유리 지방산 및 인지질 지방산들의 동시 분석 (Simultaneous Determination of Biliary Free and Phospholipid Fatty Acids Using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry)

  • 담즙내 지방산의 농도와 그 조성이 콜레스테롤의 과포화와 마찬가지로 담석 형성 과정에 관련이 있는 것으로 여겨지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS)의 selected ion monitoring (SIM) 방법을 이용하여 담즙내 23종의 지방산 동시 분석을 시도하였다. 전처리 과정의 첫 단계로 유리 지방산과 인지질 지방산을 분리하기 위해 aminopropyl column을 사용하였고 GC-MS에서의 검출을 위하여 유리 지방산은 MSTFA/TMCS 혼합액으로 유도제화를 실시하였으며 인지질 지방산의 경우는 염기를 이용한 가수분해를 실시한 뒤 위와 동일한 과정으로 유도제화하였다. 이 때의 회수율은 61.1-99.0% 이었으며 각각 3.1-25.6%와 3.8-27.0%의 within-a-day와 day-to-day 분석의 RSD 값을 얻었다. 이 방법을 적용하여 정상인과 담석증 환자의 담즙내에 존재하는 유리 및 인지질 지방산의 농도를 알아보았으며 이 때 각 물질들의 농도와 분포가 두 군간에 차이를 나타냄을 알 수 있었다.

Comparison of Clinical and Radiologic Results between Expandable Cages and Titanium Mesh Cages for Thoracolumbar Burst Fracture

  • Objective : A thoracolumbar burst fracture is usually unstable and can cause neurological deficits and angular deformity. Patients with unstable thoracolumbar burst fracture usually need surgery for decompression of the spinal canal, correction of the angular deformity, and stabilization of the spinal column. We compared two struts, titanium mesh cages (TMCs) and expandable cages. Methods : 33 patients, who underwent anterior thoracolumbar reconstruction using either TMCs (n=16) or expandable cages (n=17) between June 2000 and September 2011 were included in this study. Clinical outcome was measured by visual analogue scale (VAS), American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) scale and Low Back Outcome Score (LBOS) for functional neurological evaluation. The Cobb angle, body height of the fractured vertebra, the operation time and amount of intra-operative bleeding were measured in both groups. Results : In the expandable cage group, operation time and amount of intraoperative blood loss were lower than that in the TMC group. The mean VAS scores and LBOS in both groups were improved, but no significant difference. Cobb angle was corrected higher than that in expandable cage group from postoperative to the last follow-up. The change in Cobb angles between preoperative, postoperative, and the last follow-up did not show any significant difference. There was no difference in the subsidence of anterior body height between both groups. Conclusion : There was no significant difference in the change in Cobb angles with an inter-group comparison, the expandable cage group showed better results in loss of kyphosis correction, operation time, and amount of intraoperative blood loss.
