Pipe thinning is one of the major issues for the structural fracture of pipes of nuclear power plants. Therefore a method to inspect a large area of piping systems quickly and accurately is needed. In this paper, we proposed the method for monitoring pipe thinning. Our basic idea come from that a group velocity of impact wave is different as wall thickness. If the group velocity is measured, wall thickness can be estimated. To obtain the group velocity, time -frequency analysis is used. This is because an arrival time difference can be measured easily in time-frequency domain rather than time domain. To test the performance of this technique, experiments have been performed for a plate and U type pipe. Results show that the proposed technique is quite powerful in the monitoring pipe thinning.

In this paper we implemented the fast thinning unit by modifying the pipeline architecture which was proposed by Stanley R. Sternberg. The unit is useful in preprocessing such as image representation and pattern recognition etc. This unit is composed of interface part, local memory part, address generation part, thinning processing part and control part. In thinning processing part, we shortened the thinning part which performed by means of look up table using window mapping table. Thus we improved the weakness of SAP, in which the number of delay pipeline and window pipeline are equal to image column size. Two independent memorys using tri-state buffer enable the two direction flow of address generated by address generation part. This unit avoids the complexity of architecture and has flexibility of image size by means of simple modification of logic bits.

Pipe wall thinning is one of severe problems on structural safety in nuclear power plants. A guided wave can be a proper tool for the fast evaluation or monitoring. As for gradual wall thinnings, however, low sensitivity caused by the low reflection coefficient limits the use of the guided wave. In this work, instead of the guided wave reflection at the wall thinning, the variation of dispersion characteristics is concerned. SH waves were employed due to several advantages and the magnetostrictive patch transducers were used for the excitation and sensing of the SH waves. The proposed method were verified with some experiments and showed the feasibility as an effective tool for the inspection of gradual wall thinning.

The generation of axisymmetric Lamb waves and interaction with wall thinning (corrosion) defects in hollow cylinders are simulated using the finite element method. Guided wave interaction with defects in cylinders is challenged by the multi-mode dispersion and the mode conversion. In this paper, two longitudinal, axisymmetric modes are generated using the concept of a time-delay periodic ring arrays (TDPRA), which makes use of the constructive/destructive interference concept to achieve the unidirectional emission and reception of guided waves. The axisymmetric scattering by the wall thinning extending in full circumference of a cylinder is studied with a two-dimensional FE simulation. The effect of wall thinning depth, axial extension, and the edge shape on the reflections of guided waves is discussed.

This paper presents plastic limit loads of piping branch junctions with local wall thinning under combined pressure and in-plane bending, based on systematic three-dimensional finite element limit analyses using elastic-perfectly plastic materials. An ideal branch junction without weld or reinforcement around the intersection is considered with two locations of wall thinning; one in the run pipe, and the other in the branch pipe. Based on FE results, effects of thinning geometries on plastic limit moments are quantified and simple approximations of plastic limit loads are proposed.

This paper proposes an effective fingerprint identification system with hardware block for thinning stage processing of a verification algorithm based on minutiae with 39% occupation of 32-bit RISC microprocessor cycle. Each step of a fingerprint algorithm is analyzed based on FPGA and ARMulator. This paper designs an effective hardware scheme for thinning stage processing using the Verilog-HDL in $160{\times}192$ pixel array. The ZS algorithm is applied for a thinning stage. The logic is also synthesized in $0.35{\mu}m$ 4-metal CMOS process. The layout is performed based on an auto placement-routing and post-simulation is performed in logic level. The result is compared with a conventional one.

This work was done to investigate problems of cashew coating in a wooden-art industry such as ritual vessels and to improve a curing property of cashew film. The main problem in the cashew coating industry was a small-scale business, insufficiency of facilities, lack of knowledge about cashew resin and painting, and lack of a technology of productivity improvement by accelerated drying time of cashew film. In present, cashew coating for ritual vessels mostly used the petroleum as a thinner. The time of set to touch of cashew film thinning with petroleum on glass plates was increased with the increasement of the thinning proportion, but retarded from 3 to 11 times compared to that of an exclusive thinner according to thinning level. The addition of 20% aceton to petroleum contributed to the high reduction rate up to about 60% at the thinning level of 100%, which was effective to accelerate the drying time of cashew film. Even though only the petroleum or the petroleum-aceton(20%) mixture was used as a thinner, it did not exhibit any distinguishable differences in crack and appearance of cashew-film coated on Frexinus rhynchophylla after 5 cycles of soak under the vacuum-drying treatment.

8-이웃 연결값을 이용한 세선화알고리즘은 각 화소들 간의 연결성을 나타내는 연결값을 이용하여 원래의 형태에 가장 근접한 문자의 골격을 추출할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 골격소멸현상이 없는 8-이웃 연결값을 이용한 세선화알고리즘에서 나타나는 침식현상에 관하여 고찰하였다. 제안된 세선화알고리즘은 직선선분이나 곡선선분 모두에 잘 적용 될 수 있음을 실험 결과로 나타내었다.

The feedwater heaters are Critical components in a nuclear power plant. As the operation years of heaters go by, the maintenance costs required for continuous operation increase. When the carbon steel components in nuclear make contact with running fluid, the wall thinning caused by FAC (flow accelerated corrosion) can be generated. Local wall thinning is inevitable at the area around wet steam entrance to be attacked due to the long term operation. Sometimes the shell with thinned wall is eventually ruptured. To identify the relationship between the local wall thinning and fluid behavior of the feedwater heater, the practical data of a plant, which were based on ultrasonic thickness measurement tests, were analyzed and CFD(Computed Fluid Dynamics) analyses were performed.

세선화 알고리즘은 문자 인식에서 인식율을 높이기 위한 매우 중요한 과정이 된다. 본 연구는 다양한 문자 인식에 적용 가능한 8-이웃 연결값을 이용한 병렬세선화 알고 리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘의 특징은 병렬성 구현이 용이하며, 세선화된 결과 는 완전 8연결이 되고, 수치 정보로 표현된다. 특히 곡선 선분의 골격이 정확하게 표 현되므로 영문, 일어 등 곡선이 많은 문자에 더욱 적합함을 보인다. 성능 평가는 기준 골격선과 유사도 측정 방법에 의해 수행되었다.
