와이어 어레이 형태의 내부 도체를 갖는 W-TEM cell의 전자계 분포 특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the electromagnetic field distributions in a W-TEM cell having wire array as an inner conductor)

  • The subject of this paper is the analysis of a Wire-TEM cell(W-TEM cell) which has an inner wire array rather than a metallic septum;its basic structure is similiar to a NBS TEM cell. To verify improved performances of this W-TEM cell as a standard EM field generator, well-known quasi-static approximations are employed and their resultant ingegral equations are numerically analyzed by moment method. Although the electric field strength of a W-TEM cell is 1.4 dB lower than tht of a NBS TEM cell, the uniformity of EM field patterns in a W-TEM cell is improved. It is also shown that the EM field distortions resulting from loading by the conditing objects under test(loading effects), are decreased considerably. This paper also deals with the investigations about relationship between the EM field distributions and the number of wire composing the inner conductor. Finally, the experimental analysis is performed on the practical model which is built on the basis of the design variables brought out by the theoretical andnumerical analysis.

정량 구조 분석을 위한 Gibbsite 분말의 TEM 시편 준비법 (TEM Specimen Preparation Method of Gibbsite Powder for Quantitative Structure Analysis)

  • 입자 크기에 따라 상전이 경로가 달라지며 매우 큰 응집체로 존재하는 gibbsite 분말과 같은 재료의 정량적인 전이 구조 분석의 전제로서 입자 크기가 선택적인 TEM 시편의 준비가 절실히 요구된다. 입자 크기 선택성을 실현한 TEM 시편 준비의 방법론을 확립하기 위한 방안으로서 본 실험이 전개되었다. 약 1 wt%의 gibbsite 원료 분말을 에탄올 용매에 혼합 한 뒤, ball-milling에 의해 조분쇄 처리를 하고 증류수에 1 : 19의 비로 희석된 분산 조제, Darvan C, 0.25 vol%의 첨가와 함께 ultrasonic 처리를 하여 gibbsite suspension을 만들었다. 제조된 gibbsite suspension의 누적 농도 변화 관찰에 의한 침강 시간의 조정 후 정적 침강 분리에 의해 nm 크기별로 분리된 TEM 시편을 만들 수가 있었다. 시편의 전체적인 양상은 SEM으로 관찰하였고 개개 입자들의 morphology 는 TEM으로 분석하였다. 또한, 공정 과정 중의 상변화 가능성을 검토하기 위해 XRD 분석을 실시하였다.

  • In this paper, the analysis o fthe electric field distribution for TEM cell which is matched iwth 50 is performed, and the relations of variables for characteristic impedance are derived. Quasi-static approximations are used to calculate the fiedl strength of the internal field of TEM cell. The results of the improved method for analysis of the electric field is compared with that of R.J. Spigel. and the improved method for characteristic impedance and the results of numerical analysis are shown.

  • A shortcoming of using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) for structural analysis via electron diffraction is the relatively large error of the measurements as compared to X-ray diffraction. To reduce these errors, various internal standard methods from earlier studies have been widely used. We developed a new device to facilitate the application of internal standard methods in preparation of TEM grids used for nanopowder analysis. Through the application of a partial mask on the TEM grid, both the internal standards and the research materials can be loaded on the same grid. Through this process, we conducted a TEM analysis that compared synthetic hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanopowder to bone apatite from a bovine femur. We determined that the accuracy of the d-spacing measurements of the HAp and bone powders could be improved to better than 1% after statistical treatments of the experimental data. By applying a quarter mask, we loaded four different nanoparticles on a single TEM grid, with one section designated for the internal standard.

  • Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is a powerful tool for analyzing a broad range of materials and provides localized information about the microstructure. However, the analysis results are strongly influenced by the quality of the thin foil specimen. Sample preparation for TEM analysis requires considerable skill, especially when the area of interest is small or the material of interest is difficult to thin because of its high hardness and its mechanical instability when thinned. This article selectively reviews recent advances in TEM sample preparation techniques using a tripod polisher. In particular, it introduces two typical types (fl at type and wedge type) of TEM sample preparation and the benefits and drawbacks of each method; finally, a method of making better samples for TEM analysis is suggested.

  • 본 논문에서는 FDTD법을 이용하여 TEM Cell의 차단주파수를 분석하고, 모드를 확인하기 위하여 FDTD 에 맞는 경계조건 등 분석방법을 제시한다. 그리고 이전에 발표된 논문들과의 결과비교를 통해 FDTD의 효율성을 확인한다. 그와 더불어 이전에 발표된 논문들 중에서 TEM Cell 특히 symmetric TEM Cell의 차단주 파수에서 논쟁이 되었던 부분에 대해 FDTD 결과를 이용해 의견을 제시한다.

  • Kaolinite분말 시료를 이용한 TEM 직접 가열 실험에서 얻은 결론은 아래와 같다. (1) Gatan사의 가열 시료지지대에서 사용하고 있는 증류수 순환장치는 $500^{\circ}C$이상의 가열 실험에서 시료의 유동을 막는 필수적인 장비이다. (2) $600^{\circ}C$이하의 가열 실험에서는 분말의 두께에 따른 상전이 진행정도의 차이가 나타나기 때문에 앙은 시편과 두꺼운 시편을 고루 관찰하는 노력이 필요하다. (3) $900^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온 가열 실험에서는 융점이 높은 Mo-grid의 사용이 필수적이다. 전체적으로 온도 상승률이나 온도 지속 시간이 상전이 과정에 미치는 영향이 증가하기 때문에 이들의 정량적인 제어가 가능한 자동제어방식의 사용이 필요하다. (4) 단면 관찰을 위해 고온용 epoxy에 포매된 kaolinite분말의 TEM가열 실험은 고온 가열시 epoxy의 유동 문제를 극복할 새로운 방법의 개발이 필요하다.

Transmission Electron Microscope Specimen Preparation of Si-Based Anode Materials for Li-Ion Battery by Using Focused Ion Beam and Ultramicrotome

  • A successful transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis is closely related to the preparation of the TEM specimen and should be followed by the suitable TEM specimen preparation depending on the purpose of analysis and the subject materials. In the case of the Si-based anode material, lithium atoms of formed Li silicide were removed due to ion beam and electron beam during TEM specimen preparation and TEM observation. To overcome the problem, we proposed a new technique to make a TEM specimen without the ion beam damage. In this study, two types of test specimens from the Si-based anode material of Li-ion battery were prepared by respectively adopting the only focused ion beam (FIB) method and the new FIB-ultramicrotome method. TEM analyses of two samples were conducted to compare the Ga ion damage of the test specimen.

TEM CELL에서의 전자장 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis of Electromagnetic Fields in TEM Cells)

  • The electromagnetic field distribution within rectangular coaxial transmission lines (RCTL:TEM cells) is calculated using a numerical method. Boundary integral equations(BIE) considering equivalence theorem and extended boundary condition(EBC) in tapered region are used, thereby restricting the operational frequencies (0~130 MHz) below the cell cutoff frequency(130 MHz). The EM fields within NIST TEM cell ($1\times0.6\times2m$) are calculated by this method. The results of the numerical calcuation have a good agreement in the cross-sectional EM field distribution of TEM cell with 2-dimensional analysis results. Based on this method, the first cutoff freque- ncy in high order modes in the cell and the electric field polarization are considered.

  • To provide a design direction for high efficiency thermoelectric module(TEM) dehumidifiers, the effects of design factors of TEM dehumidifiers on dehumidification energy efficiency and performance were numerically investigated. The design factors considered in this study are the TEM capacity, the performance of heat exchangers on the heating and cooling surfaces of the TEM. The higher capacity of the TEM results the higher dehumidification energy efficiency and performance at some operating voltage. The enhanced performance of the heat exchanger on heating surface increased the dehumidification energy efficiency and performance at all the operating voltage. The enhanced performance of the heat exchanger on cooling surface decreased the dehumidification energy efficiency and performance at all operating voltage.
